We are a 107-acre forest and farm animal rescue. Sleep with the sheep, alpacas, donkeys, potbellied pigs, and rabbits when you pitch your tent or park your camper on our Vermont Farm! Reserve the group site and sleep in the middle of the action! Co-located in the open, grassy area with the free-roaming farm rescues is our RV site. Co-located sites share a community fire ring so it's a great way to meet and make new friends! Don't have a tent or RV? Spend a magical night in "The Greenhouse" (it's a real, working, greenhouse that doubles as accommodations for those looking for a more "glamping" experience). Want a little privacy? Reserve one of our two tricked-out Tent Deck sites, (Buddha North & Grandmother Pine) each with its own picnic table, private fire ring, and commercial-grade park grill. Nestled, discretely in the forest adjacent to the area where the animals are, you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere even though you are less than a 5-minute walk from your car! Looking for something a bit more remote and spectacular? Hike a half-mile to the Big Sky Tent Deck. An incredible vista awaits you for just a little effort! We are a small non-profit (501c3). When you stay with us, rent equipment from us, or take a tour with us, 100% of money you pay goes directly for the care and feeding of the rescue animals. Thanks for supporting us in making a difference in the lives of neglected, abused, and abandoned farm animals! ----- NOTICE: PROOF OF COVID-19 VACCINATION STATUS IS REQUIRED. Please be prepared to show your vaccination card or a digital copy of your vaccination card when you arrive. If you arrive without a vaccination card you will not be permitted to stay with us and will not receive a refund. ----- CHECK-IN TIME: 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Please arrive within this time window. You may purchase a check-in extension for $15 in advance or $30 on arrival if absolutely necessary.

So many animals and amazing hiking
We’ve visited the farm for an hour with a day pass but did a quick hike, interacted with the host and some animals. Highly recommend

Let me be clear
I did not make it to my destination. I apparently took a wrong turn using the Google map directions I had opened directly from the link on the Greenhouse hipcamp page. I couldn’t paste my entire correspondence with the host, Scott, but needless to say, it wasn’t what one would expect from a host (ordained minister, life coach, meditation instructor=peace & tranquility). Especially knowing how stressed I was from being lost & alone 250 miles away from home AND stuck on a backwoods road in the middle of VT with no cell phone reception to call anyone. Sure I might’ve made the mistake of getting lost, but his response to my message was immediately condescending, snotty, unconcerned, accusatory, disconcerting and 100% opposite of what his page claims to be all about. He might’ve sounded like Bernie Sanders in his response by overusing derivatives of the word “clear”, but Bernie Sanders he CLEARLY is NOT. Here’s my 3rd and final message to Scott. “The map I used was directly from your page for the Greenhouse. That’s where the instructions came from. And I didn’t say to put signage around the entire state of Vermont. Just the road that people tend to get misdirected to on the way to your sanctuary. I told you I downloaded & read everything. The map directions looked pretty straightforward. You really need to work on your “kindness” instead of patronizing someone who simply got lost. Pretty sure you’ve taken some misguided turns in your life.”

Love the donkeys!
This is the second time my partner and I have stayed at Scott’s property. This time we stayed in the greenhouse and it was awesome! Love seeing all the animals and spending time with them

Thoreau Stream Tent Site
Staying on the property of an animal sanctuary was a really neat experience. It was nice to see the animals freely roam. Our particular camping spot was on a bit of an incline and so it wasn't so comfortable. It was going to rain on one of the days we booked and we had concerns that our tent would get flooded. Given that additional people were staying on the property, I think I'd have liked to have seen a photo of the outhouse in advance since it was pretty exposed if you were on the trail. That said, our hosts were very kind and gave suggestions for trails to hike. :)

Exhausting walk but beautiful site!
We had a wonderful stay, the campsite was clean and well equipped, but it is a REALLY long walk up to Big Sky Tent Deck. If you have to carry anything more than a backpack, you really need to rent the cart. Good experience overall, but we didn’t feel prepared for the walk up.

Scott and the farm were wonderful!! The land is beautiful and the animals are great to hang around. Scott provides a whole handbook of necessary information and great nearby attractions. It's extremely helpful and makes for a painless weekend away. The greenhouse was super cute and felt safe and sturdy. 10/10 would recommend!

Thanks!
Cool spot! Scott was fun to talk to. Buddah platform may not be the best place to stay if you are going car camping, like we thought we were. It took a while and some effort to get all of our crap up there, but once we were moved in, it was great. The platform was invaluable, especially during the rain! Thanks!

Family camping with animals!
We loved camping in our travel trailer at Willoughby Rescue! If you love animals I would definitely recommend checking this place out. There were a few other tent campers there and the place was amazingly quiet and peaceful. The animals were incredibly friendly and my 3 and 6 year old truly enjoyed being able to pet some of their favorite farm animals. Scott and everyone we came across were incredibly helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend!

Our experience at this campsite was great! We loved that the site had it's own grill so we could make a delicious dinner and the green house had a lot of charm. The animals were all super friendly as well.

Great camping - with animals!
Camping at the animal rescue was magical for our kids, who loved feeding carrots to the donkeys and pigs. Scott was an excellent host, who made sure we felt welcome and had everything we need. He even taught us some things about RV camping that we didn't already know. We're already planning a return trip!

We enjoyed our stay at the farm! The animals are very friendly, we fed them and enjoyed the landscape. We stayed at the RV spot and the electrical and water hookups were great, especially since it was hot, we appreciated being able to use our AC. Anyone who is wanting a unique camping experience and loves the outdoors should stay here.

Grandmother Pine Tent Deck
I camped the first night on the Grandmother Pine Tent Deck. It was a crisp but beautiful evening and I arrived near to dark, so I only really more fully encountered all the animals when I woke the next morning and walked around (and got to feed the llamas, donkeys, and pigs!). The next evening I heard it was going to be pouring, so Scott very graciously let me switch to the greenhouse -- which being 100% made of windows, is a gorgeous place to listen to and watch a rainstorm. I very much enjoyed my stay.

This place was great, the host was great, views up at the top of the mountain were great, animals were very friendly, Lily the pig was my best friend. I would roccomend this place 100%. Just understand its a farm not a petting zoo so the animals are just strolling around. Its what makes it a great place

Paradise for animal lovers!!!
It was the perfect place for our family to land and play this weekend despite cold November rains. Our daughter is animal crazy and she lived a dream come true with the world’s friendliest donkeys who let her hug and pet them for literally hours. We had a little fire in the circle, our son practiced his archery, and we fed sheep, alpacas, and, of course, donkeys. Scott was lovely and helpful. He’s got a great thing going there. We’ll be back.

Wonderful, Relaxing Experience
This is a great place! Scott was very friendly, as were the animals. My wife loved feeding the herd! (Bring carrots, lettuce, and apples!) Once you were done feeding them, the animals would get the message and never pestered us. The overall vibe was very relaxed and peaceful. The wind-chimes near the main house were perfect for mid-afternoon naps. When not feeding the animals or napping in the sun, we wandered around the land and found a ton of cool “easter eggs” hidden around the farm. If you go, try to find all of the Buddhas, including the huge one in the woods! Every time we took a walk around the land, we’d find ones we missed earlier. FYI: There is no cell service, but the wifi works fine. It will make things easier if you are already set up for the wifi (ie have the password saved or written down). Scott sends that out prior to arrival. That being said, we didn’t have any problem with our GPS finding the place and it’s pretty easy to find from 91, even if we did lose GPS. Scott will also give you directions with the welcome packet you get before arrival. Overall: A+ experience, and definitely recommended for anyone trying to relax off the beaten path.

We went late at night but we got clear instructions from the host about the location and how to find the site. We booked the green house for the night which is built with just glass. The view of the stars at night is amazing and such a cool experience. The farm has some sheeps, donkeys and alpacas to entertain us. Overall a very good stay and would recommend. Make sure you have enough toilet paper and drinking water in hand.
