Sightseeing near Custer, S. Dakota

Very nice and helpful hosts. Lent us a battery charger when our Jeep wouldn’t start. Beautiful land and property near all the wonderful sights to see in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Easy in and level spot. Trash can for your use at end of driveway a plus. Trail at end of driveway for bike riding or for walking dogs. Full Hook Up! They had cabins too! Great Place! Cool to watch Horse “Dakota” out our window in the morning! Great recommendation for restaurant The Alpine Inn in Hill City! Thanks so very much for a wonderful visit!

Beautiful Hipcamp

We loved camping on BethAnn’s Hipcamp. Her spot is beautiful and located in close proximity to Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and Crazy Horse. If you enjoy bicycling, the Mickelson trail is located next to BethAnn’s drive and offers beautiful scenery and a lovely ride into the town of Custer and other areas.

Very nice spot.

This is an RV spot on a property very centrally located in the Black Hills. The area is beautiful, and the space is very clean and attractive. Full Hookups, nice gathering area. We had a great evening at this RV spot.

A perfect little spot.

Exceptionally friendly hosts with an extraordinary view. Very quiet even though there is truck traffic (far enough away that it is barely noticeable). Definitely recommended!

We had such a special weekend at Beth Ann’s property. It was the perfect place to visit the local attractions. Our spot was spacious with plenty of room to navigate our 43’ fifth wheel in and out. Beth Ann and her husband are wonderful hosts who instantly made us feel like family. Our children said it felt like they were at Grandma and Papa’s house! Highlights from our stay were feeding Dakota apples, playing fetch with Cash, and evening bonfires with other Airbnb guests staying in the cabins. Thank you again, we look forward to another stay!

A South Dakota Gem

This Hipcamp is in my top three that we’ve stayed at on our two week roadtrip across the Midwest! The host was exceptionally welcoming and accommodating. I loved being able to visit the horse on the property and that they provided firewood!

Pretty location, but noisy

This is a good site for an RV, but is close to the highway which was too noisy for our van setup. The site is open and sunny with a nice view of rocky cliffs, and the hosts are very helpful and friendly.

We loved camping at redblue in our pop-up. Electric and water hookups were great. WiFi was great. Portapotty was quite clean and totally fine. The location has some noise due to proximity to the road but it was not a big thing. There are two Airbnb cabins right next door who share the fire pit. Our host invited the kids to give their gentle horse some apple pieces which was lovely. And their sweet dog came over to say hi to us also.

Best Hipcamp Site Yet!

This is the best Hipcamp site that we have ever used. Highly recommended! There are two neat cabins and two well kept RV sites. Don and BethAnn are wonderful hosts. Very helpful and accommodating. Their property is beautiful, conveniently located, and very neat and clean. Don greeted us when we arrived and helped us get our camper situated. BethAnn shared a lot of good information on local attractions, scenic drives, and dining options. We really enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful Quiet Spot!

BethAnn was a great host. Everything was as advertised. Easy to find and back in. Internet was fast! Beautiful yard our children to play in, and even some toys and games provided! I would definitely recommend!

Perfect location, welcoming hosts

Beth Ann and Don are very welcoming and accommodating hosts with great knowledge of the local area. The nice level gravel pad with full hookups sits right beside 2 AirBnB cabins and shares a large communal fire pit with chairs and plenty of wood for campfires. The property is right on the George S Mickelson Rail Trail and we were able to ride 36 mi RT to Crazy Horse from the site. Perfect location to explore the Black Hills.

Black Hills Beauty

This Hipcamp is a little slice of heaven in the southern part of the Black Hills, convenient to many scenic, historic, and popular places. We were able to visit: Crazy Horse Memorial, Mt. Rushmore, Hill City, Custer, Deadwood and Wind Cave Nat’l Park. We also took a drive to Full Throttle Saloon which was empty but still cool to see. Devil’s Tower is within a couple hour drive ,too. We were surprised by the warm temperatures in early May and serenity of the area. The campsite is located on a beautifully landscaped property with full hookups. Everything is in exceptional, like-new condition. There are two adorable cabins nearby on the property, along with a big central campfire ring. Beth Ann and her husband are very friendly, kind, helpful and great company. Don’t hesitate to book this Hipcamp. You won’t regret it!

This was a great place to stay. BethAnn and her husband were fantastic hosts. They have 2 back in spots with full hook ups. It took as an attempt or 2 to get backed in and leveled up, but once we were in, the stay was fantastic. It is quiet and well maintained. I was able to message BethAnn with immediate response, while we were out exploring. Great stay, highly recommend.

Perfect spot near Custer

BethAnn’s land was a great site! Her husband was very friendly & met us when we arrived. He also told us of a great breakfast spot too. It had everything we needed! It was a gravel pad that was freshly grated, had a light up pole with hookups for electric & water & a spot to dump. They had a communal fire pit that was groomed with small rocks & patio chairs available. Location was perfect, right outside Custer. I would highly recommend BethAnn’s land & we would stay here again!

Perfect Black Hills Base Camp spot!

If you are searching for a place to use as base camp for a Black Hills adventure, look no further! It’s all about location, location, location and Don and Beth Ann’s place is perfect! We were a short drive away from practically anywhere we wanted to visit (Custer State Park, Black Hills National Forest, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Keystone, Spearfish, you name it!), but the absolute icing on the cake was how nice the campsite was. They have paid close attention to detail and have taken good care in thinking of everything that a camper (or glamper!) could want! We were traveling with my hubby’s elderly parents, I reached out to Beth Ann and asked For a hotel recommendation for them to stay in. What a blessing for us when she responded with “I’ll do you one better - we have a small cabin that is available “! When I say it was “perfect”, I mean that in every sense of the word. Again - no detail was overlooked, and Our parents were able to be quite Comfortable yet still have the camping experience they were longing for. Thank you Don and Beth Ann for providing such a glorious canvas for us to paint this special family memory on. We will be forever grateful that you decided to share your sweet space with others to enjoy! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Great Location!

Very private and quiet. Hosts were friendly and responsive. Loved cooking outside and admiring the views. Internet a plus after being without for many days. Leashed pet friendly and good exposure for our pup. Close to Custer and entertainment. We hope we would be allowed to stay in the future. Thank you.

Felt like visiting old friends

Like the title says. We felt like we new beth and Don for years. I guess it's karma and that doesn't happen often. It's a beautiful site and close to custer and all the fun things that are there and ven up in the woods right in the back yard.

A must stay for anyone in Custer!

This was an incredible place to stay and we wish we had planned for more than one night! The site was most impressive, with lovely views, and all the accommodations you could need, including a table for dinner. Our host greeted us upon arrival and was kind and helpful. They had fun toys for our kids and the host even brought out some apples for us to feed the horses. We enjoyed a fire at their nicely built fire pit and looked at more stars than I’ve ever seen! This camp is perfectly located for anyone traveling to Mt. Rushmore or Windcave, it took us about 10 minutes from Windcave to get here. We were lucky enough to make friends with the family renting one of their small cabins the same evening! It was everything you could hope for when camping. We hope to return again. The host was also very responsive! This spot is a must stay if you’re in Custer!

This RV spot was on a beautiful property, just a few miles from town. There was plenty of outdoor space for our dog and us! A patio table and chairs were provided for our spot. We were greeted as we pulled in and had help backing into our spot! I would love to come back and stay again!

Best Campground Ever!

We had wonderful time! The area where the campground is its pristine and beautiful. 12 min to Wind Cave NP and 25 to either Mount Rushmore, Crazy horse or Custer State Park. The hosts were incredible nice and of course we loved the horses! If I would have a chance I will absolutely book a night over there again.

Don and BethAnn were amazing, friendly, and gracious hosts. The RV space was super long, a 40’ rig easily could pull in. The view across the small valley was stunning at sunset. Their horses loved apples and carrots, and were also friendly. The property is very conveniently located just south of Custer, close to caves, Rushmore, Hot Springs, and more. I very Highly Recommend.
