Custer Star Valley Campsite
Denny and Cindy are great hosts. They met us when we got there to show us everything and answer any questions. The site was great. We have a Toyota Tundra with a 28' travel trailer and had no issues. The site felt very private in a nice quiet area. Full hookups was great, good water pressure, 50/30/20 power, and internet access as well was a plus! The site is in a great location. Right in the middle of major attractions(Wind Cave, Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Jewel Cave, and a couple hours from Badlands NP and DevilsTower. It's a pull in site and I had no issues backing out. Demny offered to help if needed when we were ready to go, so they are there if you need help. We would definitely stay there again.

Great place and a great set of hosts. Very friendly but aren’t overbearing. Our dog got loose and they just asked his name and gave him some pets. Our family really like the location and it’s very peaceful.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The campsite was clean and exactly what was presented. This might be my lack of camping experience... I would suggest a portapotty on site.
Private perch overlooking a beautiful valley with ponds, egrets and other soaring birds. Host was very responsive. A lovely find, close to the charming town of Custer and the spectacular Black Hills.

This is our 2nd time there. Peaceful spot. Close to Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse etc.
Wonderful area.
The campsite was perfect. Beautiful spot on a hill. Convient to all the attractions and cute town of Custer.

What a great spot. Beautiful property with a view of trees and two ponds. Easy access to Custer and very convenient to all the sites in the area. We spent six days there and was able to see Mount Rushmore, Badlands, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, Rapid City, Wind Cave and Custer State Park along with a half of day in the town of Custer. Deer walked close to our trailer one night and all we heard at night were birds. It really is the perfect spot!
You have everything you need but will have to back trailer out which was very easy with my 24 ft Mini-Lite. Denny and Cindy were excellent hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. Everything is well kept and beautiful. It is a must stay if you are in the area.

Denny and Cindy’s spot was a great little place for our first Hipcamp experience. The site was just as described, quiet, peaceful, with easy access to the George Mickelson trail. We saw lots of geese with their little goslings near the ponds, and white tail deer near our camp in the evening. Denny checked in with us before our arrival to make sure we got to the site ok and afterward to make sure we had everything we needed. This was a great first time Hipcamp experience. Not only was this an extremely beautiful & safe place to stay, but it also has the best hosts, hands down! They made sure we had everything we needed, made some accommodations for our situation, and helped us find a way to the nearby hotsprings. Really went above & beyond, yet gave us the privacy we desired. So happy we met them & stayed there!

Private yet vast. The sky was amazing at night! Denny was responsive and quick to communicate. He wasn’t around when we booked the site (at the last minute) so he had his neighbor (Bob- a friendly older gent) get us all set up. It was accommodating and a perfect holdover spot for us for the night. Interesting to learn the history of the area!

The place is very clean and well kept. The view is very charming ,peaceful and quiet We came to Custer Star Valley as guests. When we left we have gained a new family. Mr Denny and Ms Cindy are very genuine loving and personal. The accommodation and hospitality are extremely warming. Highly recommended and it’s feels like home away from home.

Very nice spot. Convenient to town, Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore etc. Clean and quiet. Denny and Cindy were very helpful. Would definitely stay there again while in Custer.
We stayed there for the last two nights and what a fantastic location! Only a few miles from town, but the site was remote enough to where we could hear coyotes howl at night and see the stars…. Mount Rushmore & Crazy Horse Memorial’s and Custer State Park are definitely worth visiting. The site had full hookups, (power, water & dump), a fire pit and a picnic table. The Wi-Fi was fast: 200 Mbps downlink & uplink, so uploading pictures to the cloud was fast.
The only problem that we ran into was the site is a pull-in site, (and we’re fairly new to RV camping) but the host was gracious enough to help us back-down the driveway.
We plan to return, next time we’re in the area!

My wife and I loved our stay at Denny and Cindy’s location. They were incredible hosts and enjoyed meeting them. Beautiful location and views. Great setup with full hookups. Perfect location between Custer and Hot Springs. The perfect spot if you would prefer a little more seclusion.

They greeted us when we arrived and as the site is up a slight hill they helped with directing our trailer up the hill to a level portion on the site then helped us back down as we were leaving.
I seriously loved this spot and would absolutely recommend it to anyone and everyone who is visiting the Black Hills. It’s quiet and beautiful and Denny and Cindy are so nice and you can really tell they care so deeply about doing this and their land! This was also my cats favorite spot we’ve ever stayed as they absolutely loved watching the birds from the windows. Seriously don’t skip this spot when you’re visiting the area! :)

This has truly been an incredible place to stay, so much so that I even booked an extra night to be here a little longer! Denny and Cindy are so kind and you can really tell they love doing this and love their land so much and it really shows!
I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Fantastic RV spot with full hookups and excellent internet! The hosts, Denny and Cindy, were a true delight and so accommodating. Private area and amazing star gazing! We will be back next year!

Perfect quiet spot with quick access to Custer and easy drives to Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore and the Crazyhorse Memorial.
Although Denny and Cindy were not home when I arrived their neighbor came rushing over when he noticed I was a bit confused about the entry.
The driveway is a bit long and you pull in and then back out. Denny was super helpful in guiding us back out. It was nice to have full hook ups. Just know that you need long water hoses and electric if you want to access all three at once. The pad is gravel.
There was a fire ban in effect so we couldn’t use the fire ring Denny and Cindy provided along with the picnic table and chairs. Ci day offered use of her washer and drier as well.
We would certainly camp here again.

Super clean, great hookups, host and neighbors extremely helpful and friendly. Wildlife every evening. Easy drive to all things Custer.
We loved our stay at Denny & Cindy's spot. Beautiful, convenient to town and all sites & the hosts are the nicest folksee've met in quite some time. We highly recommend thisHipcamp to anyone seeking authentic hospitality in the beautiful Black Hills.
Our 1st trip to Black Hills & could not have picked a better hip camp. Beauriful, peaceful location 5 miles from town. 1/2 mile pedal to Mickelson Trail. Electric, water & sewer with fireplace & chairs and a nice picnic table. But the greatest part was the kind hosts, Cindy & Denny. I wished we lived closer as we really hit it off with those folks. Very accomodating and our dog is now in love with them. I highly recommend reserving this site if visithe area.
This was an amazing property! The best part about it is the amazing couple that owns and runs it, Denny and Cindy! They were very friendly, generous, and informative! We enjoyed getting to know them and their story! The site was level, had full hook ups, and was very peaceful. We enjoyed it so much we stayed a second night! Two great sunsets, some deer passing by, and South Dakota wilderness. We would definitely stay again!
It’s in the middle of a very nice subdivision is very safe. Kind of unlevel, but very quiet secluded and the host were very helpful.

Custer Star Valley Campsite
This was, by far, the best place we have camped. With full hook up, a peaceful setting, kind generous hosts and an excellent location we didn’t want to leave. The hosts created a lovely flat, gravelly spot that is perfect for any RV with lots of room to relax and enjoy. We were inadvertently there during Sturgis and it was nice to have a quiet spot to get away from it all. Cindy and Denny were such a pleasure and kind to us and our dogs!
