We needed a electric hookup in the area and Big Pine campground was a good place to stay. We had no hot water in the morning but Jennifer had someone fix it and we were able to shower before we left!

It was a good spot very accommodating for staying in Custer. The shower and bathroom was very clean. Shower had very hot water. There was a burn ban going on during my stay so I was not able to have a fire but the campground had a food truck for that reason so it all worked out. The food truck was very good! Overall would definitely recommend this to someone
Beautiful property, set back in the trees. Feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but just a few minutes from Custer, and easy drives to Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore. Lots of cool rocks to pick up and cool rock shops to purchase rare finds if you’re into that. Deadwood is just a little over an hour away. Will definitely come back in the future.

The campground was nestled in the woods and situated where there was privacy and comfort for every spot. The bathroom and shower house was clean and inviting. Jennifer and her staff were so friendly and helpful!

We just stayed four nights at Big Pine Campground while exploring Custer State Park and the area around it, and honestly, we loved it. There were afternoon thunderstorm with hail but it was quick and didn't bother us.
The owner, Jennifer, is super helpful and easy to get ahold of. The camp hosts, John and Gary, are just awesome to chat with. They both gave us some really great tips on local places to visit and eat. I'm a fellow retiree/veteran, so I especially loved swapping stories with John.
Jennifer completely nailed our campsite recommendation. We have three kids and two puppies, and I originally asked for a secluded spot far away from everyone because our pups like to bark at people walking by. But she suggested site #44 instead, and it was perfect. We were just a stone's throw from the bathrooms—which is a lifesaver with three kids—but we still had plenty of space. We even set up two hammocks at the site!
If you need a friendly, family-and-dog-approved place to stay in Custer, definitely book here. We'll be back for sure!

We showed up just before quiet hours, and left early for our travels, so we didn't get to fully experience the Campground. However we liked the campground, the showers were cool, and the sites were nice.

We had a very pleasant stay! I really appreciated that Jennifer placed us away from the other tent campers, so we had plenty of privacy. Our site was well prepared and clean, and the bathrooms were also neat and well maintained.
One small note: when we were there, 2 of the 3 washing machines were out of order, so we had to use a laundromat in town. Honestly, it wasn’t a big issue. Overall, we would definitely recommend this place!

I cannot say enough good things about Jennifer and her campground. They made a couple of exhausted moms with 3 kids and a senior dog feel so welcomed and comfortable in their campground even after we had a scheduling mix up. 100% 10 outta 10 will stay again!
We stayed in a comfortable tent site with two tents and a utility trailer. Even with extreme downpours the campground remained relatively clean with minimal mud. The store was so cute with ice, fire wood, and smore supplies to compete the camp experience.

I had to cancel my reservation. Because I was in another town with a vehicle overheating. I could not check in. I explained my situation to the host. However, nothing was mentioned in regards to a refund.

We are so grateful that we chose Big Pine Campground. The host was very helpful in responding and giving us confirmation and directions to the campground.. Upon arrival, they showed us our site. We set up quickly and decided to head up to Custer State Park and drive along the Needles Highway when our tow vehicle decided to break down. After sorting out a tow to a local mechanic and getting a lift back to the camp we found a compassionate host in Jennifer, her husband, Bill, and daughter Arianna. They were able to work with us and arrange for an extra night and even block the next night just in case. We found the whole family kind and helpful. I know there are a lot of campsite options but what I loved about their campground is that it feels more organic with campsites well organized but spread around on the hilly property. They even have a tent circle section. I think this place would be wonderful for families to come together and stay.. The property is well kept, the bathroom very clean and in the evening I was able to get some great photos of the night sky. I can't say enough good things..

Fantastic camping spot! Beautiful and very accommodating. Would 10/10 recommend if you’re in the area.
Our overall experience of Big Pine Campground was one of convenience. Close to Custer State Park, Michelson Bike Trail, Mount Rushmore…all of which we did experience. The campground is surrounded by tall pines & quiet at night. The only drawback was that we had to wait 30 minutes for the office to open after a long day of driving. The showers/bathrooms could be cleaner. Disappointed we did not get to meet Jennifer but John who showed us to our site was very pleasant. I would recommend staying here for the Custer experience.

I’ve camped here twice. Once on a solo journey and once with my family because I wanted to share it with them. The staff is the most responsive and helpful I’ve encountered on all my Hipcamps. It’s a great spot tucked in a draw that leads up to the park (but also just a few minutes outside of town)!

This place is absolutely great! The hosts are wonderful.
Wooded, quiet campground with very clean restrooms and hot showers! Jennifer and her husband are super sweet, helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay there again.
