This ranch is the home of children's book author Cowgirl Annie. This property is a working Ranch. Some of the campsites are in an abandoned gravel pit so you will be parking on a sandy gravel base. I like to let my guests decide where they want to park. I may have to move guests to a different site than the one they booked depending on what is happening on the ranch or the weather. There are cottonwood stands close by that you can hike through to the river. A wide variety of wildlife live in this area, so no telling what you may see or hear. You will have a big area to yourselves. I have tried to plan areas so you won't be disturbed by other campers. I do not groom hiking trails. You will be at one with nature. You may want to bring bug spray, sometimes the mosquitos and horseflies are bad. Wall Drug and the Badlands National Park are about a twenty-minute drive. Mount Rushmore is about an hour and 15 minutes.

This is a top notch hip camp! The owners property is just stunning and it's so convenient to all the local tourist spots. It's also priced great for full hook ups which was a nice change from so many hip camps that want $70/night for nothing. About 15-30 min to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Jewel Cave and Wind Cave. It snowed the few days we were there which was just beautiful and so peaceful. You're also about 5 min from Custer where you have plenty of shopping and restaurants. Really just a perfect location, they also have a little cabin so if you had a group with an rv and without this spot can accommodate either. Highly recommend and if we're ever back in the area will definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Star Valley RV Camp Spot

We stayed at the property for 4 nights in our Motor Home and it was a perfect location to use as home base for all the things in the area to do. We saw Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Jewel Cave, Wind Cave and even made the 2 hour drive to Badlands. Other than Badlands, everything else was about 15-30 min away. Little town of Custer provided some places to eat and shopping. The property is in the most beautiful and secluded location. It snowed when we were there which just added to the beauty. And lots of deer all the time. We were the only ones staying there so it was really quiet, even Kurt was out of town. They have a little cabin adjacent to the rv parking spot but no one there while we were staying. Would have been cool to have other family in the cabin and sharing the fire pit area. The rv space was pretty level, full power, water and sewer hook ups which are awesome to have. Price was very reasonable for that as well. Would definitely recommend Kurt's place! Beautiful spot!

This is the best Hipcamp place I've stayed! The host met me and gave me a choice of locations; I picked a spot near the river with beautiful views of the breaks to the north. It was quiet and peaceful and I got the best sleep of my my entire trip! My dog loved it too.
