Camping near Spearfish guide

Overview

Sitting in the Black Hills, Spearfish boasts a bounty of wildlife, scenic campsites, and local events open year-round. Head into Black Hills National Forest, known as the “Island of the Plains,” to see rock formations, open grasslands, canyons, and waterways. Hundreds of miles of biking and hiking trails surround tent campsites, while nearby RV parks come with dump stations, restrooms, and firepits. Travel south to Mount Rushmore or Wind Cave National Park, full of vast prairies and grasslands above a complex cave system. Tent and RV campsites are available at the national park, while full-service cabins and glamping rentals come with fully stocked kitchens, wifi, and easy check-in during off-season camping. Badlands National Park, a rugged world of geologic deposits and desert populated by bison, bighorn sheep, and prairie dogs, is also close by. Campers can explore the world’s richest fossil beds and stargaze during some of the clearest night skies from tent campsites and RV parks in and around the park with full hookups (including 50-amp electricity).
