Bearlodge Mountain Resort

28 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents10 acres · Sundance, WY
The Bearlodge Mountain Resort can be a quiet getaway from a hectic lifestyle, a base camp for hunting, an adventure-packed vacation, or a great spot to stay while you tour area attractions. Where "networking" is two pickups parked in the middle of the road so that their drivers can visit. Where we go grocery shopping in the woods during the fall. Where "neighbors" might live two hours away or just down the road. Where directions are given in "north and south" instead of "right and left". Life's a little slower, people a little more sincere and a handshake still means something! PLEASE READ: IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TENT CAMPING: I don't have any shower or bathroom facilities. The closest place I know of is the Conoco a mile north of my place on Cleveland St. They have a truck stop and I'm told the shower is nice. There is a chance I won't be on site to greet you, but so far everyone has been incredibly respectful and found some great places to put up a tent. I trust you!

Camping in Rocky Point Recreation Area guide

Overview

About

Local anglers love this new addition to South Dakota’s arsenal of parks, and it’s easy to see why. The 8,000-acre Belle Fourche Reservoir is full of fish, with walleye being one of it’s main attractions. The reservoir’s name means “beautiful forks” in French, referencing the confluence of the Redwater and Belle Fourche Rivers. If you’re curious about the dam’s history, be sure to head over to the south side to check out the exhibits and displays. You’ll find tons of info about how the dam was built, and will also snag some insight into a spot that was once a World War II Prisoner of War camp. When you’re done swimming, boating, fishing, lounging, and learning…just head back to camp, it won’t be far away!
