Overview

About

Indian Hills State Recreation Area and Resort, located 30 miles west of Garrison and 30 miles south of Parshall, is a special place. Not only because of its scenic location on Lake Sakakawea, but because of it’s management—it’s operated by a private leasee, and is a unique business venture between a family, the state, and other groups. Visitors can camp, stay in modern and primitive cabins, and enjoy their boats on the lake thanks to the full-service marina. The best part? The feeling of peace that you’ll get being here. Consider strolling along the Nux Baa Ga Trail (it means “All the People” in Arikara), and soaking in the views of the lake as you hike, bike, or horseback ride along it’s six lovely miles.
