Unspoiled vistas, brilliant night skies, and vast wildlife are waiting to be discovered at the Dakota Prairie Grasslands. Uniquely laid out, the grasslands are actually individual areas dispersed throughout the state, so you can throw a dart at the map and choose! The antelope laden tallgrass prairie of the Sheyenne National Grassland is wildly different than the badlands of the Little Missouri Grasslands, but we guarantee the variety, scenery, and killer camping at each is reason enough to visit them all! Try the groovy Denbigh Experimental Forest, horseback riding in the Grand River National Grassland, or coyote spotting at sunset at Buffalo Gap. You seriously can’t have a bad time here, it’s impossible. The friendly rangers, down home feel, and stunning sunsets all over the Dakota Grasslands will leave you wondering what took you so long to make it out to these one of a kind adventures.

Of the five campgrounds we stayed at in North Dakota, we liked this one the best, as it was the most secluded. There are 13 spaces, and my brother and I were the only campers there!
It was in early August, which can be extremely hot, and I understand why there may have been no other campers: no shade! Actually, two of the sites had partial shade, and my brother and I occupied them.
There was a pump for water, the outhouse building looked pretty new and was clean. The whole area was just beautiful, surrounded by bluffs. Like I said, it was very private, great place to get away from civilization.
About 20 minutes from the North Unit of TRNP. We had no problems with ticks or other bugs.

Most sites are level, but there are a few that could be a challenge. Every site has a relatively large grassy lawn, picnic table, and fire ring. This is completely dry campground. Water was not available at the time this review was written. Internet was a bit of a challenge. We were able to get 4 bars of AT&T voice, but no data. On Verizon, our standard reception was ranging between 1 bar of 1x to 2 bars of 3G, also with no data. Once we hooked up our range extender though, we were able to get a solid 2 bars of Verizon LTE and data that was fast enough to stream movies with little to no lag.
