The resort is located off Highway 385, the main thoroughfare through the Black Hills National Forest, yet is peacefully nestled in a quiet valley, completely surrounded by national forestland with a tranquil year-round creek meandering throughout the property. Rock outcroppings, hiking trails and offroad trails are within footsteps of every cabin. The serene space is an outdoor sanctuary centrally-located within 20 miles of Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Needles Eye Tunnel / Highway, and Black Elk Peak. Your adventure will also take you near Hill City, Keystone, Custer, and Historic Deadwood. Drive a little further, and end up in Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Sturgis, or Devils Tower National Monument.

Multiple Creekside RV sites

Very nice, quiet spot in a valley just north of Sheridan Lake. We enjoyed a full hook up creek side site. Convenient bath house. It’s a short drive to Mount Rushmore and Iron Mountain Road.

We loved camping at Horse Creek Camp! The lower site was perfect for our little Happier Camper and Garrett was a gracious host. The bathrooms were simple but clean with awesome shower heads. There are hiking trails nearby and beautiful Sheridan Lake. We’ll be back!

Open Creekside Camping

Garret is the loveliest host we’ve ever met. He’s a passionate traveller himself and knows precisely what other travellers may want when getting accomodation. Highly recommend the entire resort,no matter if you choose a tentsite or a cabin-all key amenities are here,including great communication and flexibility addressing one’s specific needs!

Open Creekside Camping

A charming, new favorite spot!

We loved the dispersed camping at Garret's and Horse Creek Resort!! The site is adjacent to an RV/cabin area, but just on the other side of a small creek in a nice open space. The place is easy to find, but nestled back off the road. Garret was friendly and helpful in his communication before we arrived. It felt safe, was quiet, clean, and had bathrooms/showers. We slept amazingly with the creek running just outside and only wish we could've stayed longer. It's too bad we don't live closer or we'd become regulars. We can't recommend this place enough and really hope to come back again!
