What a wonderful spot! Tucked away and private, but an awesome, central base camp for the Black Hills. The tent we stayed on was super clean and well-maintained, and even in October we stayed toasty warm with the provided bedding. There's an area to cook, and a place to wash dishes. Would highly recommend - Tammy was so kind and accommodating, her and Tim truly have a little slice of paradise.

Our stay was perfect. Our host Tammy is a gem, she made quick friends with our sons and is really great to get to know. The site is impeccable clean and convenient. We had a relaxing fun week and will be back again.

Tammy was so warm and welcoming and her love of the land was infectious!! It was such a treat to stumble upon her space, would absolutely book here again :)
We had the best time at Tammy & Tim's property. The glamping tent was so comfy and in a beautiful setting. There are pavilions with BBQ grills and some shade when needed. The bathhouse is spotless and has everything you need. The highlight of the property is Tammy! She is such a gracious hostess and made sure we had everything we needed. We can't wait to go back for another getaway!

Lil' Bear Cabin
A beautiful space that is ideal for some time away! Tammy was friendly and very accommodating.
We had an amazing stay, it was such a peaceful and relaxing experience. What set this place apart is the hospitality we received from Tammy and Tim. They truly shined and made the occasion second to none. We will definitely be back, and we even discussed making a stay here a yearly tradition.
What a great find! I never know what to expect when I arrive at my campsites, but I knew this one was special from the moment I arrived. The facilities were very clean and the attention to detail is top notch. The host was very helpful throughout my stay and I can’t say enough about her, the location and my experience.
We had a wonderful stay at Bear Den. We stayed three nights in the Lil Bear Cabin with a family of five and a dog. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep and there was plenty of space inside the cabin. Tammy went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The cabin was cozy, the pavilion was a wonderful spot to wind down in the evening, and the bathrooms/showers were very clean. The location was great and close to so many attractions. It was a great base camp for Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Needles Highway, and so much more.

Amazing value for the price: clean showers, laundry access, and more, all while lodging rates everywhere else have skyrocketed from Sturgis. Tammy was a wonderful and responsive host. Location is perfect for Black Hills activities. I'd 100% stay here again if I ever come back.
This place is amazing! We actually extended our stay here the rest of the week! It’s close to all the amazing riding this area has to offer. And Tammy is sooo sweet! She always checks on us if we need anything and bends over backwards for you! First night we got there she actually brought us dinner because she knew we had been on the road for 2 days straight. I will be coming back and feel like I made a new friend!

This was such a unique experience, mostly thanks to Tammy and Tim's hospitality. They made us feel like we were old friends. Everything was clean and organized. We'll have to use the grill next time.

Tammy and Tim offer a home away from home. Personalized greeting a tour of their property. And immediate access to them for emergencies. The site is clean with plenty of amenities. Clean, private showers. Linens supplied. Drought friendly cooking options. Serene and comfortable cabins and tents.
This place is a gem! Will be back! Super clean, and lots of added touches that were impressive and appreciated. Need some ice, in freezer. Forgot sunscreen, in the bathroom. Local coffee. Shared BBQ area. Water hose to cool down the dog. And Tammy, wow, the sweetest host ever!
This was the BEST place we have stayed in a long time! Bear Den Cabins and Camp was the friendliest, cleanest, comfortable rental. Tammy greats you upon arrival and gives a tour of the grounds, which includes the cleanest bathrooms and showers. A washer and dryer are available, and ice is available for campers to use.
The cabins and tents are extremely comfortable. The beds are great! Two pavilions are available to grill in, or sit and talk to other campers if you choose.
The only thing that I would change is that they move the camp to New York. But we will drive 1700 miles again to stay there.
It’s so convenient to Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Highway, Sylvan Lake. If you’re lucky, you might come up on some kids selling iced tea during your travels. We can’t say enough about Bear Den Cabins and Camp. You definitely would enjoy your stay.

I loved camping here! Great location, and Tammy was great. I’ll be staying here if I’m ever back in South Dakota.
Tammy met us when we arrived and showed us around. She is very hospitable. We were in Lil Bear Cabin. It was clean and very quiet. The scenery was wonderful. Short walk to the bathroom/shower room which is new and very clean.

Perfect spot for the 4 of us to stay (2 adults, 2 kids) while exploring the black hills. Very comfortable campground, excellent location, and Tammy was very friendly and helpful.

This place is officially my favorite hipcamp! When we arrived we were greeted and given a tour by Tammy, who obviously puts a lot of time and energy into caring for this place and her guests. She was around talking to us and the other campers and getting to know everyone individually. The bathrooms were super nice and clean, she provides ice, coffee and tea, a microwave, soap, and amazing tasting water! We spent most of our time in the covered picnic table area which was great for the heat! We would love to come back here when there isn’t a heat advisory going on someday!

Tammy is a wonderful host! It's clear that she care a great deal about her business and puts effort and care into making it meaningful! Make sure your dog is friendly and non-reactive to help Tammy out!! She's great. Highly recommend.
What a gem of a hip camp spot (so is Tammy). 10/10 for communication with Tammy! Glamping for the win. Great rate, roomy camp tent, queen size bed was very comfy, stylish furniture; grilled our steaks in a full size covered area with light, tables, and chairs! The bathrooms are better than any camp ground we have EVER stayed at. We will stay here again when in the area and bring more people and spend more time in the area!

I LOVED camping at Bear Den and I wish I had a longer trip! Tammy has a very clean and well-stocked campsite which completely exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend staying here and I hope I can come back!
We saw the northern lights here on our first night. I loved it so much that I did end up staying an extra night, and knowing I had a comfy bed with a hot shower to come back to was just the best. That last day of my trip made all the difference in turning a good trip into a great one. Thank you so much Tammy!

We just can't say enough positive things about Tammy and her Bears Den camping site. Shes a genuine caring person who has created a beautiful property.
We stayed in the Nutty Bear site, that literally had everything we needed. From clean soft towels to spotless bathrooms and showers, everything is provided. Since there was a burn ban, she provided a propane fire bowl. You can tell she really cares and this stay is on par with the best B&B's.
In addition, the location is fantastic- near all the major parks, yet its far enough away to keep it peaceful and relaxing. We just loved our stay.
We stayed in the glamping tents at Bear Den and absolutely loved it! Tammy was an amazing host and the amenities were above and beyond. Can’t wait to come back!

Lil' Bear Cabin
I can't recommend this place enough. It's one of those places that is so great, you want to keep it to yourself. And at the same time you want to shout it from the mt tops!
Tammy and Tim are fabulous hosts that know the area really well. They have created a beautiful little spot with many amenities. It's cozy, inviting and so clean!
We are already making plans to go back.
WOW, WOW, WOW what can I say. This place totally met and far exceeded my expectations. If you are looking for a comfy and cozy stay look no further.
Yes its off the beaten path and yes its secluded but man oh man does that make it perfect.
Pair that with amazing bathrooms and showers and laundry services its 10/10 for me.
I have stayed at MANY Hipcamp locations and this quickly became my favorite. Amazing hosts as well that go above and beyond. Please do not change anything !

The most serene camp I’ve ever been to! Tammy is a sweetheart and provides everything you could think of! I’ve stayed in both the big cabin and a glamping tent and they were both amazing!! Bathhouse is always sparkling clean! The environment is truly so peaceful and all other campers have been so kind. Also such a great location to stay if you’re interested in visiting Custer and surrounding areas! Definitely will be back and recommending to others!
