They let me adjust the night I stayed there when I accidentally messed up and booked a night early and only realized it the next day! I asked if I could still come and they let me even though it was my mistake. Thank you!! Everything was good except please note that the showers are lukewarm rather than hot.
It was so wonderful! Can’t wait to make it back out and stay some more. So peaceful, spacious, and accommodating. Amenities wonderful. About a 10-15 min drive to Sylvan Lake depending on traffic, 4 min away from Custer. Literal perfect location. Thanks so much for a great stay, gentlemen!

We loved our stay at Fort Welikit!!
We appreciated it being tucked away in the woods with sightings of deer and wild turkey. The private bathroom and showers were great. The camp sites were spacious, felt private.

Still peaceful even close to the road. Nice bathrooms and showers and space to walk around.
I stayed with my two kids (9 & 12) in the large wooden keg for one night at Fort Welikit and had the best time there. Check-in was so easy and quick, had no trouble finding the campground whatsoever, and the staff were very kind and accessible. Staying in a wooden keg was a vibe- it rained while we were resting during the afternoon and it lulled us into a delightful nap from the sounds of the raindrops hitting the roof- it felt very secure as well in case the winds picked up or it would start hailing we felt protected from the elements and all-around cozy. The beds had mattresses that were cushy enough for us to sleep soundly through the night as well. The electric outlet was a bonus to have-as was the fan and lights. We didn’t pack light (I lack that gene it would appear🤔) and there was more than enough storage for all of our gear. The stars at night were the best I have ever seen. The bathrooms were clean and the hot showers on demand were lovely. I checked out by handing back my key a few minutes past 11am (I also lack the genes that allow people to be on time for everything) and was not scolded or put on the spot/fined which I really appreciated. The price was very reasonable for what we got- during peak summer season during sturgis- location was unbeatable. Can’t recommend Fort Welikit enough-book the keg NOW!

Campground was fully stocked, including a laundry room, shower rooms and septic toilets, and play structure/area. Our tent site included a picnic table and was near water. The hosts were really approachable and helpful. Would definitely stay again, thank you so much!
Check in was super easy. Campground was quiet and clean. bathrooms were fantastic!

Spacious campsite, with multiple full bathrooms nearby.
Good CG with ample services, shade and quiet time as all sites have power, no generator disruptions. This site backed up to a field with wildlife wandering through. on occasion. Be aware all dirt/gravel, no pavement and plenty of trees to watch for staging with pop outs and awnings.

Loved the cover over the picnic table at our site! We were sure to bring an extension cord so that the electricity could reach our tent, which helped to keep our electric cooler on for the 3 days we spent in the Black Hills. We loved how close this campground is to everything - downtown Custer, Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore, Custer National Park. We were lucky enough to see some wildlife running through the campsite. I was hesitant that the tent loop would be too close to the main road, but you could hardly hear any noise from the main road. Overall - a great stay!! Plus - clean bathrooms 😊
Stayed here a total of 3 nights, twice in lots of 4, once in 82 while truck camping. Both were great and didn’t take much work to get comfortably level at either. Everytime we stayed here we were booking short notice day of and they had no problem accommodating that. Amenities are very nice and clean.

Me and my boyfriend were planning on tent camping, saw the wagon listing and couldn't resist! It was pretty spacious with storage. We easily fit a full air mattress, probably could fit a queen. There was a cute little park and dog park. There were many bathrooms and they were all clean from what I saw. It was busy being 4th of July weekend, but it was still pretty private. They had ice and firewood for sale which was super convenient. Definitely would recommend in the future!

The staff were friendly, and both the camp area and bathrooms were clean. We have no complaints and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Easy to find place to camp! A little bit closer to the road than we would’ve liked( could hear road noise as we slept) but I think that was just our spot & not like that at the whole campground. It was a unique experience staying in a covered wagon and nice to not have to put up our tent! We even had deer come up close to eat near our campsite!
Loved our stay in the teepee at Fort Welikit! Cozy and comfortable. Campground is forested, quiet and well maintained, individual bathrooms have flush toilets and showers, and owners are kind. Super convenient place to stay when exploring the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore.

Well managed and beautiful campground. I loved how the tent camping loop was tucked away from the larger RV loops.
Heated bathrooms were clean and well managed. Showers were great and it was easy to keep the kids clean after day adventures in the surrounding parks. We stayed our last night in a teepee and it was also really lovely!

Great location! The Tipi was so fun to camp in and even withstood the rain. The Staff was friendly, laundry facility and convenience store were available, and there were plenty of clean showers/bathrooms.

If you’ve ever held the lifelong dream of sleeping in a tipi, Fort Welikit will not disappoint. Despite cold overnight temps and rain, we were warm and dry inside. The grounds are clean, and the amenities were great. Would happily return.

We had to enter very late. We had a tent though so the check in wasn't necessary since the office was closed and we didn't need electrical or sewage connections. The site we were at was close to the road which was kind of annoying but it wasn't too busy.
