Learn more about this land: Tent site just feet from cliff overlooking French Creek and state gamelands. This is a secluded nature lovers paradise! There is an eagles nest a little ways up the creek and they sit in the trees directly across from your site while hunting for fish. Many deer cross the stream daily for access to the gamelands and can be seen every morning and evening. Several beavers have dams in the flood lands and can be spotted swimming up and down the creek. Gorgeous views at all times during the day but especially at sunset. The Nature Conservancy listed French Creek as one of the 12 "Last Great Places" in the United States with unspoiled ecosystems. It was also awarded the 2022 Pennsylvania River of the Year It is the most biologically diverse aquatic ecosystem in Northeast US with 89 species of fish and 27 species of mollusks calling these waters home. About the property: 150 secluded acres of woods, fields, and streams, tons of places to play and explore. There are 3 miles of mowed trails around the 4 fields and in the woods. Our house is very close to the main road and is about 1/4 mile from the cliff/ tent site, so we'll be close enough if you need something but far enough away for you to do your thing. Where you park is a short walk, 100 feet, from the tent site and fire pit. There is only room for one tent down by the cliff but you can place more in the field where you park. About the creek/ reservoir: This is on the upstream side of Union City Dam so during normal summer camping the creek will just be a creek. But in early spring or after very heavy rain, the creek backs up and will flood the whole valley within feet of the cliff. It is gorgeous when flooded but unpredictable and dependent on the weather. Bring your kayak/canoe, when the water is low you can float the creek or when it's flooded you can paddle on the reservoir right up to the eagles nest tree.
