10 acres altogether, about 5 acres mowed. Enough almost the size of a soccer field for kids to play in, in more than one place. Each campsite is about half an acre and we do have fire pits once you decide where you want to camp. We do not often have guests so you should have most of the property to yourself. The campsites are on the far shaded side of the property with my camper and cabin on the other five acres. Past that will be a dog park opening before 2022. Learn more about this land: We are closed until April 1st, bookings available for 2022 season. Thanks for a great first year! Hope’s Hippie Hideaway with private floating at Wheelabout Creek is your new private LGBT friendly 10 acre camping site, less than 10 mi away from Lake Hope. If you could go through Zaleski, it would be 2 minutes. Hike all day at Lake Hope, Zaleski, or Iron Furnace State Park, or float through the heat of the day with our pool or the private creek that lines the entire property. Attention: The pool is now closed for the year. There is a lot of area for exploring, creeking and to enjoy the wild life. This year we spent our life savings to try and start this new little piece of paradise and we would love for you to come along with us on our journey. We have swimming holes, a big blue private 15-foot chlorinated swimming pool, port-o-potty, 24-foot shelter house, over six half acre shaded non-hookup camping sites to choose from with private creek access. All campsites have a fire ring, access to charcoal grill, share access to water and electric, but not hookups. Sites #1 & #6 come with picnic tables. We also now have a trash container on site. We will soon have a cabin for rent and there is currently one 40-ft gravel pad with pull through access next to temporary water in a full sun area. Dog park coming next year with more electric hookups. My pibble and chihuahua are normally on the property with huskies a qtr mile away. Dogs are welcome when leashed. This is our own little happy place where we enjoy the view, the sounds of nature and togetherness with our friends and family. There is a shooting range near Lake Hope State Park, but shooting is not allowed on the property. The property is technically in McArthur, Ohio, but Google also considers it in Albany, Ohio. 10 miles from Lake Hope, 20 mi from Athens, 6 mi from McArthur Ohio where there are gas stations, fast food, pizza can be delivered, and three dollar general's within 15 minutes. Each campsite can have up to 6 people, any more and the site next door can also be booked. This listing is only for the 4 currently available non-hookup campsites or gravel pad. All amenities including water and electric are shared with owner and other guests. Daily electric hookup for gravel pad not available yet. Please bring some extra firewood as we go through quite a bit of it and firewood is not provided. We have room in the sun and shade for trucks, trailers, ATV's, we have walking trails mowed out, a driving trail around the property, and the pool can be reserved an hour ahead of time. Let us know what you want to bring and we will let you know what is planned that weekend and things to do in the area. Adults can float, kids can go play somewhere else. Bring your hammocks and tents. Can provide tent for extra fee. We have badminton, and volleyball. Wildlife preserve area in tall grass. Discounts for returning customers. And even babysitting of up to two children upon request for $20.00 an hour available on Saturday nights until 9p or Sunday mornings from 10-12p only, from a state certified early childhood educator, if interested please request this in a message as well. We love to explore and work on our property with our pup, and we invite you to come out and remember how it feels to relax in nature.

Great Experience Trailer Camping!
Super clean. The owner was precise and accurate with her information. All sites were easily accessible! Just beware, when she says it's the second right... You'll probably miss the first one.

Hope's Hippie Hideaway at WheelAbout Creek
Hope’s property is beautiful! We had plenty of privacy, flat areas perfect for tents, a fire ring, and a picnic table. It was fairly muddy with the rain, but we still had a great time. It is not too far from the road and there is some road noise, but it didn’t bother us at all. We would definitely comes again!

Nice area but wouldn’t stay again
Campsite was large and perfect for our group. Owners were very responsive. There was no creek to float around, the pool was unusable and the port a potty was filthy for the first 2 days of our stay. Also be aware that the bugs, fleas and ticks are really bad. The highway noise all night and the dogs barking made sleeping very difficult.

Camping with friends
We enjoyed our weekend at this camp! It rained every night but it didn't stop our fun. The creek running behind our campsite was an awesome bonus we enjoyed the wildlife it brought to our adventure (we saw 2 barn owls among the creek trees). We will be back next year there is no doubt it! 😀

Great Weekend
Hope was super responsive and the site was nice and clean and quiet. It was close to Hocking Hills and Lake Hope as posted. Again from other reviews you could hear cars but got quiet around 9pm. Google was a little fussy with directions but Waze was helpful in addition. Had a nice weekend and would absolutely recommend.

I loved car camping on Hopes land! There is a major road next to the camp which can get loud sometimes at night but it wasn't too bad. You can pick whatever designated spots that are made up that you want. The sunset was awesome to watch as it sunk below the trees! Good place and close to Hocking Hills.

While I was only there for a night, I got to enjoy the whole average to myself! Hope gave very good instructions, and had an amazing place for easy camping! Sites are certainly large enough, with large fire pits to sit by. Highly recommend!

Close to everything Hocking Hills.
We had a great night's stay at the Hippie Hideaway. Like others have said, local traffic is noticeable until nightfall, when it slowed considerably. The location is close to many things travelers will want to do in the area. I hope others will utilize the grounds as home base in order to enjoy this beautiful part of Ohio. Hope was communicative and helpful. All around a great Hipcamp experience.

A lovely, peaceful place to stay
My husband and I got this campsite for the weekend. We were looking for some place private and quiet. This definitely fit the bill. It's not as secluded as I normally like (you can see and hear a country road not too far from our site) but the way the sites were sorta tucked into the strip of woods, definitely gave the feeling of privacy, especially at night. I think this is helped by the fact that the campsites themselves are rather large and spaced far apart. Very pretty views in the morning. The instructions for getting to the site and into the site were very clear, and we had no trouble finding the place. We didn't see the host at any time but that's fine with us-- we're experienced, self sufficient campers. And, she was always available via the private message function on the app so I never felt neglected by my host. The terrain at the site and in the surrounding community is pretty easy for most vehicles to traverse but, fair warning, the campsite gets muddy when wet!

Beautiful Campground
I cannot say enough about hope, her communication and hospitality. The property is very well-maintained and all campsites are next to the stream lined by trees. I stayed in the campsite under the Shelter which is lined with gravel and keeps the bottom of the tent cleaner. You can also enjoy time under the large sturdy shelter if it is raining. I fit an 11 person tent, kitchen set up and the small table provided under the shelter. It is located just off of SR50 but it isn’t too busy and much quieter in the evening. If you position your tent or camper towards the stream, it is a beautiful wooded view.

Will definitely stay again!
Had a great time camping on Hope's property. We brought in our travel trailer and used primitive site #1 instead of the gravel pad with electric because it was closer to the woods. Layout of the property leaves you plenty of room between sites so privacy was not an issue at all. During our trip we went to Littlefish Brewing in Athens and ventured over to the Moonville Tunnel! Very cool place to visit and just a short walk from the parking area.

Nice and roomy place to stay
Hope's Hippie Hideaway is a very nice place to stay. We had a great time while we were there. Proximity to Lake Hope (for kayaking) and Hocking Hills worked great for us. We went about our activities for the day and then returned to have a nice campfire each night. You do hear a fair amount of traffic from the main road that passes by (50). By about 9:00 or so the traffic became very light so the road noise wasn't too bad while sitting around at the fire. There was one other site being occupied while we were there and they were pretty quiet and polite. There is alot of room on the property for us to navigate our truck and camper to the location we desired. But If it rains alot before you arrive, the best option would be a gravel pad that is set up for heavier vehicles. I am very comfortable at towing our 20ft TT, but I would be very leary at trying to get anything over 30ft in thru the gate. We would definitely stay again.
