Thompson Palms Campground

We really enjoyed our stay at Thompson Palms Campground. Bernie and Hoa were incredibly nice, welcoming, and accommodating throughout our stay. The property felt safe and secure, the site was quiet and peaceful, and having full hookups made it a great spot for our RV. One of our favorite parts was being able to buy fresh eggs and homegrown produce right there on the property. Whenever we needed eggs or something fresh, we could grab it without having to make a trip into town. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a quiet, private place with full hookups and great hosts. We would absolutely stay again. Only thing to know is that Ramona gets HOT during the summer, so come prepared for the heat!

An Amazing Stay — Hospitality That Truly Feels Like Family We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Thompson Palms Campground while visiting friends in the Poway area, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about our experience. From the moment we arrived, Bernie and Hoa made us feel incredibly welcome. Their hospitality went far beyond what we would normally expect from a campground—it genuinely felt like we were staying with friends or family rather than simply renting a campsite. The property itself is beautiful and peaceful. There is something really special about staying on a working farm surrounded by palm trees, gardens, fruit trees, and animals. It has a relaxed, authentic California farm atmosphere that you just don’t get at a typical campground. It was a wonderful place to come back to after spending time with friends in the Poway area. The location gave us easy access to everything we wanted to do while still providing a quiet and peaceful place to unwind. But what really made our stay stand out were the hosts. Bernie and Hoa were exceptionally kind, welcoming, and genuinely interested in making sure we had a great experience. Their hospitality never felt forced or transactional. Instead, they treated us with the same warmth and generosity you would expect from someone welcoming friends into their own home. That personal touch made a huge difference for us. I loved staying at Bernie & Hoa's property for a quick weekend trip. Before the stay, they were great communicators and made it easy to find and navigate the property. When we arrived, Bernie took us around the property on his golf cart. It really is a beautiful property. One of the best parts was being able to watch the stars at night while listening to nature's sounds. I would definitely stay here again.

Tucked into the palms

I stayed in a tent site tucked into the palms with birdsong and gorgeous sunsets. Bernie and Hoa were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make me feel at home. They brought over fresh produce (best tomatoes and oranges I’ve had) gave me a tour of the property in their golf cart, and even showed me the details of their absolutely STUNNING gardens! Genuine kindness like that is what makes a stay special. The campground is level and quiet so I was able to get a lot of remote work done, yet close enough to the laundry and bathrooms to take care of a few loads while there too. The koi pond is a gem and I got to watch Bernie feed them. The plants, flowers, cacti, and carefully maintained spaces make the property feel peaceful and alive. Even during the summer heat in the 90s, my campsite had plenty of shade, which made it a comfortable place to relax, work, and get editing done. Bernie has a ton of knowledge about nearby Ramona and where to eat, but they do have a farm stand with eggs and produce to make farm fresh meals at the campground too. Feed the chickens your scraps and participate in composting - the hosts and their critters are your friends! I will return soon!

Gps takes you to the neighbors which is super super awkward. You basically have to find out by like accidentally tresspassing behind their neighbors gate and talking to them... they also charge 35... but dont have showers and toilets so that will scare you until you realise..... im at the wrong place !! Very run down farm. Them you go to the actual farm and its mich cleaner than the neighbors thank god. But still pretty gross. If im being super honest. Biggest conplaint was there was no lock on the bathroom door. So imo its not suitable for female campers kids or men who care about that type of thing. There would be like random men working in the garage while youre like showering. Told the owner didnt fix it. Very little privacy. Guy has a billion people living on the property and youre like in between two guest house back yards. Feels super intrusive. Camping in a grove of palm which had dust cover us our children and all our gear immediately. We camp all the time and this is the most "dirty " plave we have camped at before. It was inexpensive but still felt over priced. Site was hot in the day cold at night no fires or easy water access close to tent sites so it isn't great. Super old washer and dryer charges 5 a load. Okay price I guess. Bathroom smelled absolutely horrible. Like terrible. Whole garage the bathroom smelled really bad from them raising turkeys. I know its a farm but gnarly smell to walk into before and after a shower. The owners nice. Wouldnt recommend tbh.

Had a great stay. Bernie and Hoa were very welcoming and invited us to walk/explore their beautiful property. Enjoyed the sunset and star gazing in the evening. We purchased fresh eggs and Bernie gave us a sampling of fruits and vegetables. It was quiet and relaxing. All 3 sites were level with full hook ups. Enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Exceptional spot & hosts!!

A truly wonderful spot and can't say enough good things about Bernie and Hoa as hosts. They were so welcoming, graciously offered lemons, tangerines, and cucumbers from their garden. Even invited me over to join the neighborhood potluck they were hosting, having known me for 30 minutes! RV hook ups were easily accessible, and spot was exactly as promised. 10/10 would recommend. Will definitely be returning myself!

We absolutely loved camping at Bernie's and Hoa's. It was beautiful, peaceful and the hosts were hospitable. We enjoyed the tour of the property and excited for the new bathrooms they are building for their guests! We had a family emergency so we did not get a chance to say goodbye and thank you for being so awesome! We look forward to coming back.

Respite Near Ramona

A full hook-up spot on 12 acres of farmland makes for a nice stay. Other than the sporadic crowing of a rooster and the occasional braying of a donkey it was a nice getaway from anything resembling a city. Directions to the property were clear and Bernie is a really interesting guy to talk to. I would definitely go back again.

Thompson Palms Campground.

The Thompson Palms Campground is absolutely amazing. Between the hosts Bernie and Hoa being so kind and welcoming to their campground and the peaceful surroundings it has been such a pleasure to stay. The property is amazing with beautiful trees and landscape throughout the property including a Koi pond and chicken coops and cows that like to come say hi. There is also a farm stand on site so you can buy fresh eggs. Sitting and talking with Bernie and Hoa has been an absolute joy during the evening under their palapa. Thank you again for such a great time at the campground I will definitely be back again.

Camping with animals

It was a delight to stay at Bernie and Hoa's. The quiet was broken up only by the moo of the cows, the cluck of the chickens and the crow of distant roosters. The gardens are beautiful and the flowers so fragrant. We could hear the owls at night and birds during the day. Our hosts were helpful and accommodating. Would recommend Bernie and Hoa's anytime and would most definitely come back.

BEAUTIFUL & SERENE!

This is a beautiful property with very nice hosts. The grass is lush and green with trees draping over the landscape like a glorious frame. Truly a peaceful and breathtaking property. Cows and chickens and lots of bunnies hopping through. The hookup spaces are perfect and large. They each have their own picnic table and are separated by more beautiful trees for some privacy between camp sites. A very thoughtfully designed camp area with very welcoming hosts. I actually extended my stay by a few additional nights because I got lucky with availability and didn’t want to leave that beautiful property. Even the drive to the property is serene and amazing. Thank you for allowing me and my fur baby clan to rest on your land. 🙏🏻

2nd time on Bernie's and Hoa's property. It was just as peaceful as the first time. Lots of space (there were at least 2 other campers there) and being surrounded by palm trees is pretty cool too. And it is tough to beat the hospitality. Bernie responds to any requests and tries to make sure you feel welcome. I will definitely be back when I am in the area again.

A relaxed farm setting with steers lowing, chickens cackling, roosters crowing, and Hosts Bernie and Hoa cultivating gardens, moving soil with a tractor, sharing eggs and homemade beef jerky, also inviting us to sit by their fire. Wonderful hosts and a great place to stay. The sites are level, private and offer hook ups. Return visitors!

The farm was interesting and lively with naturally beatiful views and a peaceful quiet place at night. The only regret was we were not able to stay longer and enjoy more great conversation with Bernie.
