The only thing better than one is two. Meet Twin Lakes State Park. Nestled in Michigan’s Copper Country on the southwest shore of Lake Roland, is the best spot to make basecamp. This area is awesome for historic trips with the family. Travel a little north of the park and watch the mining buzz and boom of the mid 1800’s become re-enacted. Hike your tush up the Porcupine Mountains and scope killer views. Or, go visit the mineralogical museums that surround the area. Or, park yourself in front of the water and don’t move a single inch. Roll out a towel and soak up the sun on the beach. The Twin Lakes Nature Trail is accessible from the park and only stretches a mile and a half. Cruise the off-road-vehicle (ORV, we like acronyms) through the dirt trails in the hot months and whip out your snowmobile in the snowy season. For overnight adventu
