I bought this property 30 years ago and built the cabin myself with a Hungarian friend nick-named Crash. This property was won in a poker game when it first came up for sale years ago. It is an old logging trail that goes 1 1/2 miles back in the woods - it feels like you are in the UP or Canada. Learn more about this land: The Get-A-Way had a very good summer - a few renters drove back spinning tires and tearing the drive up, but we are always motivated and just put $1200.00 into the road and dock. (See pictures.) We have a super cool site on a lake, with 2 canoes, a row boat and trolling motor, 2 batteries with a generator for your convenience. Key Word Your. You are only required to be happy and not rude. Normally there is even fire wood provided, life vests, and even instant coffee. Look at the pictures and see the propane tanks for the stoves. You will need to bring a few if you want to cook on the stoves. Please note: This is basically camping like you would in a tent but in a cabin. There is no running water - bring your own water or a water purifier. A clean port-a-potty is provided. Bring your own bedding - there is a futon and a set of bunk beds. There is an assortment of pots and pans. The cabin is not always cleaned between guests - please leave it in as good or better condition as when you arrived. Fishing paradise
Beautiful and scenic location that makes you feel like you are the only ones around. Taking the boat out on the lake to catch some fish was just what we needed. (Side note: the parking area right beside the cabin is quite sandy and deep)

Nice off the grid cabin amid a forested wetland area with lake access and dock. Has a light bulb w power source, stocked kitchen, multiple grills, and a nice fire pit. Port-a-potty was nice enough. A nice getaway!

Douglas had great communication and easy check in. The cabin is secluded and as described in the listing

The Get-Away
We had an amazing time at The Get-Away! It is quiet and peaceful. If your looking for some solitude and isolation this place is definitely for you! The lake is gorgeous (not swimmable) but it is definitely a great spot for fishing! Our dogs loved being able to run around and explore here as well. Bring everything you would for a normal camping trip minus the tent (we did bring a screen tent though for evenings to keep the skeeters away). As others have said, the cabin does get VERY hot inside. If you have a battery operated fan, definitely bring it with you but other than that it was exactly what we needed for a weekend escape. We definitely hope to come back one day and have this placed saved for any weekend trips in the future!

The Get-Away
I loved how tucked back in the woods we were. The lake wasn’t swimmable but having the canoes was awesome!! We brought all of our own cooking supplies not realizing the cabin would already be stocked with most necessities. We spent the rainy day playing the games that were there. The wood stove was super cute. Connecting the ceiling light to a battery was odd the first time but it was totally worth it to have. It was an amazing stay and my dogs loved to be able to run around free!
