4 nights at Green Acres

My husband and I had a great weekend staying in the rustic tent only sites. We were there for 4 nights. The sites were fairly big and ours had plenty of shade. There was just a couple hours where shade was slim. Overall, we would be happy to stay on James Property again! The bathrooms and communal kitchen were a surprise bonus for us! Although we did not use the kitchen or showers, having a fully operational bathroom was amazing. My only advice if you plan on camping here is to bring tools to break down wood. There is plenty of free wood to use around, but we didn't have the tools to break it down.

Beautiful property we had a fantastic 4th of July weekend. It was easy to find and not too far away frome the lake. Owners was super helpful and was able to accommodate our group. Would definitely recommend.

5 nights at Hidden Meadow

This by far was the best hip camp that we have stayed at by ourselves or with others. The location was perfect for us to travel to The Highlands for down hill mtb. Phil has a cute little stand where you can buy unique handcrafted games hes made. The outdoor shower and portable pots are a plus also. Will definitely return if in the area again

Weekend Trip to pineleaf.

Tim was a great host and I would recommend this site based just on my interactions with him, but the site was great too! The site was well kept and probably one of the most private sites I’ve ever camped at. There is a portable toilet up by the cabin which was incredibly well maintained and frankly smelled amazing (something I didn’t know was possible until my stay lol). It had recently rained when visited but had some time to dry out, so I didn’t have any issues getting back to the site but I would recommend exercising caution if you don’t have 4wheel drive and there is heavy rain in the forecast as it is a rustic site. Overall, I think this site is well worth the cost (especially considering the 420 friendly gift bag and free bundle of wood on your first night) and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

3 nights at Trail 76 Private Campground

Peaceful, private, and perfectly cozy! This campsite was everything we hoped for, wonderfully private and very quiet. All the little extras really made it special, and Clay was incredibly responsive and helpful the whole time. We ordered a firewood drop-off, and it lasted our entire stay, super convenient! One of our friends arrived after dark and ended up renting the on-site camper instead of setting up his tent. He loved it so much, he stuck with it the rest of the trip! The string lights added such a nice touch and made the space feel warm and inviting. We couldn’t recommend this Hipcamp more and will absolutely be staying again.

We loved the site and were glad to have the river to dip into with the heatwave we ended up in. Felt like getting away from it all, but still close enough for easy trips into town for food/supplies throughout our stay.

What a great find! Phil was super responsive and even met us out front to lead us in to our site when we finally made it super late. The power had been knocked out due to a storm and Phil gave us the option to look for a different site or still stay at his and use a generator. I am so glad we chose to keep the reservation. Bathroom, shower, activities for the kids all A+!

Weekend Trip to Twin Bears Wooded Campground

Great cabin in the woods where it was very quiet. Everything was there to make my stay clean, welcoming and comfortable. Having extra dishes and silverware on hand was a nice added touch. It was a very warm weekend, so the air conditioning was really appreciated. The people are very kind and friendly. I will look forward to coming in again because I come to the area frequently.

2 nights at OffBeat Acres - Camp Chill AF!

We had a great time staying on Jackie’s property! She was very kind, helpful, and generous. Answered any message/ question promptly, and even offered shelter to us when a big storm came through. And on top of that, it was gorgeous!

6 nights at Jewett Creek Farm

Camped here in my 17' trailer for a week while exploring area around Thunder Bay and Alpena. Wonderful alternative to an RV park or crowded state park. Private, roomy camp on a large corner lot with screening trees and foliage and -- bonus! -- a bathroom with shower and laundry(!). There's a 30 amp electrical connection on the side of the building. We did not hook up to the water because it had of the sulphur smell, but there was no issue with showering or using the laundry. Would definitely use again.

…….. if you ever plan to go back to State Park Camping!!!!! Hidden Meadows was our first Hipcamp and we loved it. We wanted to get away from the busy state parks and crowded campgrounds and Hidden Meadows was exactly what we wanted (and needed)! The whole property was nicely set up to accommodate outhouses, outdoor shower, yard games, firewood (which was a major plus in my book), and cute signs around the grounds that was fun to look at while taking the dogs for walks. We will definitely be back!!

We loved the cabin, it is cute and roomy. Tim is very hospitable. The location is perfect. Enjoyed our stay there very much.

Weekend Trip to Grateful Acres

The space was great! Having electricity and wifi was amazing especially because I am in school and needed to do homework while camping. Only a 10 minute drive to The Highlands Bike Park which was our main attraction. Only 8 minute drive to closest gas station with essentials. Absolutely LOVED hearing the different birds and animals in the morning. Overall, great experience and would definitely come back!

Weekend Trip to pineleaf.

My husband and our two kiddos (4 & 7) stayed for two nights in the cabin. It was so relaxing and felt like we were deep in the woods. Timothy was amazing from the start. I had asked if we could possibly check in early and he was okay with that. We ended up having car trouble on the way to the cabin and didn't check in until dinner time. He was so great about the whole thing and had even turned the heater on in the cabin before we arrived because it was a cool night. The cabin and bathroom were both clean. Timothy was lovely to chat with and was available by phone or in person at any time. He gave us a complimentary bundle of fire wood, a goodie bag, and three gallons of water. Pineleaf and Timothy are both wonderful and we plan to stay again in the future. A tranquil, quiet place to stay and a very accommodating host!

Nice quiet spot in the woods. Plenty of room to maneuver before backing trailers in. Clay has provided some amenities to make it more enjoyable. Only few minutes from trails by sxs. Overall a great time.

Weekend Trip to Lake Huron Private Campspot/Ocqueoc

We loved Cathy’s site! Easy access for our camper, power on site, fire wood included, maybe 15 footsteps to the beach, and Cathy was there giving the property a fresh mow and to show us around. The campsite is tucked near the trees and there are other homes and sheds nearby but the site still felt very private, quiet and peaceful. Cathy’s site was a great starting point for the things we wanted to see over the weekend: Cheboygan State Park, Ocqueoc Falls and Alpena. Weekend highlights were dinner at Rosa’s Squeeze Inn, Alpena Flower Festival, and we saw our first ever black bear in the wild as we were driving through Black Mountain Forest area. It was very sad to see all the tree damage from last winter’s ice storm, but we loved the area and the campsite, highly recommended!

We know most of our neighbors as friends or relatives. Our camping area only has four sites so it’s cozy and private. We have about 5 acres land for use around the campsite and lots of wooded trails nearby. We are about 2 miles from Burt Lake, and about 10 miles from other waterways, rivers and streams, and Lake Michigan. we are also 4 miles from biking and ORV trails. There is also a dedicated stargazing field with an amazing view of the night sky!

There is no electricity, running water, or trash services. Please pack in, pack out. Please do not leave discarded or broken beer or alcohol bottles on property. There are over 30 fruit trees on site, from Black Pearl and Bing Cherries, Apricots, Peach trees, Honeycrisp apples trees etc, 250 sunflower seeds were also planted this season. This is a very delicate area near a local watershed source, Deer Creek, wetlands on property, and also fruit tree farm in it's early stages, organic strawberries, and organic raspberries growing as well. If you can't respect the trees, plants, flowers, on property please do not book! Also with all of the fruit tree plantings, parking is limited to one to two vehicles inside property at site, other vehicles can park along the drive on M32. In the welcome Hut, you will find dry firewood for purchase, as well as a refrigerator and freezer for use by our guests. Each site has its own labeled shelf to keep your perishables fresh. Also available for purchase are organic farm fresh eggs, cold soda, and bottled water, as well as bags of ice in the freezer. At Grateful Acres we aim to make your stay with us, as enjoyable as possible. The two sites sit on 3 beautiful, quiet acres in Northern Michigan. Site #1 is flat, open, and spacious, while site #2 is a bit more enclosed and private tucked into the trees. Both sites come furnished with a picnic table, a fire ring with attached grill for cooking and 2 adirondack chairs. The Star gazing at night is absolutley Amazing!! The property is centrally located between Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Alanson. Nearby are many lakes, rivers, state forests, mountain biking trails, golf courses and ski resorts. Centrally located to several attractions! Manistee Lake is about 2 miles away, Manistee River is just 15 mins away, a slow meandering river. Great for a lazy day floating on a tube, kayaking and canoeing. The infamous Torch Lake is about 30 mins away with it's Caribbean blue waters, equally beautiful Elk Lake along with the beaches of Lake Michigan. Traverse City and Gaylord are 35 mins away and historic Grayling is about 25 mins away. The mighty Mackinac Bridge is just 50 mins away. Visit the quaint Mackinac Island and pick up some of the famous fudge! Leetsville ORV trail head is a little over 6 miles away for ORV enthusiasts. Three golf courses within 9 miles. Cherry Street Market is 9 miles away for a large array of fresh local fruits, vegetables and flowers. Garden art and more! 13 Ski Resorts within an hr or less, mostly less. There are so many things to see and do year around here in beautiful Northern Michigan!

Remote private tract in northern Michigan with Portage Creek to camp at, right up close. No neighbors, no other campers! 10 miles from Grayling so you can run into town for needed supplies with little time or effort. Bring your kayaks and swimsuit for a quick splash. The creek is mostly shallow with some deeper spots. There are downed trees so the kids can kayak without going too far away but they can go out of line of sight and hearing, so please be watchful. The last ½ mile road in can be very sandy in spots or sometimes flooded so you are encouraged to call or enquire prior to arrival, 4WD recommended for towing an RV. We recommend your first arrival during daylight hours so you can see the entrance of the property. The non-maintained county road, the last ½ mile in is typically not passable during winter and snow seasons except by snowshoe or snowmobile due to the snow level. Never leave children or pets unattended! Be aware of the chance encounter with an endangered massasauga rattler, it may be endangered but it is still poisonous and they have been seen on and around the property before. Ticks are on the rise, and the springtime can be very buggy, and mosquito-y with the surrounding swampy areas. There are bear, coyote, and an assortment of other creatures big and small. This is a wilderness area and so please be aware of wild animals. Never leave your small contained fire unattended at the firepit and watch for sparks, completely douse the fire before you leave as this is a fire-prone area. No fires outside the firepit for safety reasons and fire hazards. If you want firewood here in Grayling, there are a few places that sell it. There is down debris in our woods but as the summer goes by, it may be picked through. You can pull and circle through the open area with your RV, or you can tuck into the RV / camping spot. There is enough room for 5 or 6 cars but campers may crowd that a bit. If you are tent camping, you are welcome to set up elsewhere on the property. There are trails throughout the property and you may see the ‘No Trespassing’ signs all along the perimeter of the 23.7 acres. The toilet is now working again, but we ask that you not overtaxed it ;p . The small cabin is fairly stocked with pots and pans, good for campfire cooking. Picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate on site for your use. There are tons of nearby outdoor recreational opportunities and water bodies very close by, or you can spend your time on this private tract. The military board land and small arms range is just past the road to the west, you may hear small arms practice at times, the sound of freedom.
