Lake Ellen is a special place. It's about 180 acre private lake located in Wakulla County. The lake is connected by a small waterway to Little Lake Ellen. Some of the best fishing is in little lake Ellen because it is accessible only by kayak or very small boat. There are no homes on the little lake as it is surrounded by wetlands. We live on the lake about a 1/4 mile from the property. The Sunrises over Lake Ellen are incredible. Early risers can walk down to the dock and experience a different sky painting each morning. Wakulla County is mostly Public land with the St. Marks refuge, Apalachicola National Forest and several large State parks making up the majority of the County. Fresh Seafood is the meal of choice. We recommend The Seineyard at Wildwood for a great meal. Only about 7 minutes from the property. The Seiney

Angelos has great food but a little more expensive. All have websites for more information and check days they are open as it varies with seasons. A fun day trip is to follow HWY 98 along the coast to St. George Island and Apalachicola about 45 minutes to an hour away. White sand beaches on the island and a fun little coastal town that time seems to have forgotten. A couple breweries and a great town to walk around in. On Weekends the High Five Dive bar is where you go in Apalach for local music in a safe friendly atmosphere. Closer to home the Lighthouse at St. Marks or Wakulla Springs State Park make for interesting trips. You can access the Bike trail from the site via a 2 mile ride on paved back roads. The access point is at Wakulla High School. We hope you enjoy your visit as much as we enjoy the place we call home. If you enjoy your stay tell others. If you have suggestions please tell us.
