Enjoy a stay at our rustic log cabins nestled 1/2 mile back from our residence in the peaceful woods of our family's 160-acre 5th generation farm. Summertime here is filled with long days of daylight to participate in various activities, or just hang out in the hammock. The warm evenings bring out fire flies, owls hooting, and stargazing while sitting around the campfire. The fall is a very special time of year here with the maples and oaks changing colors. There are two log cabins, one of which doubles as a place to cook maple syrup in the spring, a pavilion, and an odor-free "outhouse". We will only rent to one group at a time, you'll just have to choose which cabin site(s) you want. The group limit is 9 people. Hike the trails meandering through our woods, sit around the large campfire, take a relaxing nap in the hammock, watch sunset down one of the trails, or the many activities of hiking and mountain/fat tire biking groomed trails at nearby Levis/Trow Mound, fishing, kayaking, horse trail rides, and The Highground Veterans Memorial Park is a mile up the road. The pavilion has a large log picnic table, Blackstone griddle, a charcoal grill, and refrigerator/freezer. The pavilion and Sugar Shack cabin have solar power. The Sugar Shack has a small gas stove and oven. The Cozy Cabin does not have solar power yet. All rentals include use of the pavilion and "outhouse". New in 2026 - outdoor shower with heated water. There is no WiFi but there is good cell phone service. Bedding is furnished for cabin stays. Wood is furnished. Charcoal is furnished. We welcome your furry friends, but no more than 2 dogs. Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, what a unique name and deservedly so as the forest itself is as diverse and attention getting as it’s namesake! The deep northwoods of Wisconsin offers a ton of hiking, biking, and camping to get stoked about; there’s 800 miles of hiking trails alone. But if you’re looking for a truly unique outdoor experience, try offroading or cross country skiing old military roads in the winter. There’s stunning Lake Superior views from St. Peter’s Dome and 70 foot Morgan Falls is sure to cool you off on a hot summer day. We dig the Quartz Trail where you can see giant quartz deposits discovered by the Native Americans who used to inhabit the area. There’s plenty of camping options to make this a wilderness weekend (or more) and with over 1.5 million acres to explore, we doubt you’ll be running out of rad things to discover!

My husband and I work and live in Africa during the school year.  We have 3 young boys and wanted them to be able to have a large place to explore and play, and learn to camp and enjoy nature.  We purchased this cabin in 2021 from the original owners who built the home.  We fell in love with the design of the cabin and the windows which allow great views of the river and wildlife.  There is an Artesian well that is 200 feet deep in the granite ledge that the cabin sits on. Artesian wells are more common in sand and very uncommon in granite. This well provides some of the best water you’ll ever taste. The cabin has total privacy with no neighbors on either side. There are a couple cabins across the river and just north of the cabin that are visible when at the river's edge. The total acreage is approximately 6.5 with 300 feet of river frontage. The cabin is set back from the river, yet maintains a view of the river. At the river’s edge there is a picnic area deck with table and chairs. The land is wooded with a mix of small pine, some large pine old growth and hardwood. There are walking paths throughout the wooded lot. There are no houses on either side of the lot. It is not uncommon to see a lot of wildlife. There are many deer, grouse, eagles that nest just up the river, and an occasional bear. The 6.5 acres that the cabin sits on abuts 1500 acres of undeveloped land.
