Welcome to Otter Pond! Our property is on the Toutle river. We are 30 miles from Mt St Helens Forest learning center and 15 minutes to Silverlake. Lots of hiking nearby, motorcycle track, drag strip and drift car track. Or just relax with the birds, deer, eagles, ducks, geese, rabbits, neighboring cows, beavers and otters that pass through now and then. You have acres to enjoy! Like your own mini campground. Half of our acreage is across the river-summertime is a great time to cross and explore! You can even walk up river and tube down. 1,000 feet of riverfront, a pond, charcoal grill, and 3 different fire pits for you to explore. If you rent the trailer and are over 6'1 you wont be a happy camper! You will enjoy bugs, snakes, spiders, deer, otters, beavers, mice, bees, and maybe the neighbors cows. We live on the neighboring property, but respect your privacy. We look forward to sharing our space with you! There is a pond and river with a slippery bank full of rocks on this property. The river is a short 5 minute walk. Tennis shoes/river shoes highly advised. Please note we are 10 miles from the nearest food/gas services.

We have a 1/2 acre property on the Cowlitz River in the middle of Cooks Ferry Park in Castle Rock WA. We bought the property to relax in a beautiful setting close to home. We only live 15 minutes away. The property is made up of dredge spoils from when Mt. Saint Helens blew and is inside of a park where people can go to fish and enjoy the river. There are only 8 lots privately owned and we are the first lot that you come to. There is plenty of room for an RV. Guests can also tent camp or stay in our shack that has a sleeper sofa. There are snacks, a sign in book, an axe, briquets, a fire extinguisher, and other items the shack. There is a picnic table, fire pit, BBQ, and wood stove. There is a porta potty on the property. We value your privacy. We do have cameras on the property that are on when no one is there. Once a Hipcamper arrives at the property, they are turned off. We also keep our travel trailer there to enjoy when we can. We will never be there camping when you are there. In the summer, we sometimes kayak. We put in upriver and get out at the property. If it is booked at that time, we will always check first to see if it is okay for us to get out there. If you continue going past our property, there are some nice rock beaches with pretty views. People fish there and wade in the water in the summer. Castle Rock is a cute little town with some nice shops, restaurants and bars. I recommend checking it out! We are not picky about check in/check out time. It would only matter if someone else was checking in the day you are checking out. Please ask if you expect to arrive earlier or want to check out later. If your plans change, please cancel through Hipcamp to get a refund.

This property is currently in development. It offers tranquility, with occasional visits from deer. River access is just a short distance away, providing opportunities for fishing, sunbathing, or floating along the Cowlitz River. Just follow the pink flagging from our "Black Tail River Trail" sign at the south end of the grounds along the mowed path into the woods to the river. Approx 750' from the sign. Conveniently located near the towns of Kelso and Longview, and only 2.7 miles from Castle Rock. Two full hookups are available, two water/power sites, along with ample dry camping areas. We have a porta potty as well. Horses are welcome on the property, as are leashed/penned and friendly pets. Dogs can be off leash at the river, but be courteous and aware of other dogs. Please clean up after your animals! Cell phone coverage is good here, we do not have wifi available. We offer firewood for sale (cash) and allow propane fire pits. We also have a community fire pit for our campers, called the Lave Pit, directly across from our dry camp area. We follow the Cowlitz County burn ban, July 15-Sept 30. No fireworks allowed.

What a pleasant surprise this place was. Trish was super helpful and friendly. She quickly answered any questions we had. They are close enough to help if needed but far enough away where you felt complete privacy. Full hookups was a big perk. The view was amazing, tons of birds singing, wildlife to explore, acres of land to roam, a pond for the doggies to enjoy, and river access. We plan our RV trips around our golden retrievers ability to enjoy them and this place was heaven to them. Many wonderful memories made. 10/10

If you're looking for a place to relax and unwind, this is the place. Within minutes of arriving , We knew, we were in a special place. We were greeted by warm and peaceful host and felt welcomed immediately. This property is truly special. You can feel the love and care they put into every bit of this land. We saw so much wild life. Nesting Ospreys and herons, deer, a sealion, a river otter, racoons, and baby ducks to name a few. We stayed in the RV spot that was right next to the river, we did need an extra extension cord to reach our trailer and our hose wasn't quite long enough to reach the water, but it worked out fine. We also had the opportunity to check out the yurt and the houseboat. Both are very unique and would be fun to stay in. Will definitely be back!

What we love most about this campground is how spacious it was. We have a very long bumper pull trailer and a large van because we haul lots of kids and a dog, we were able to pull in without a problem. There was plenty of room to turn around. It is hard to find a spot that has enough room for our large camper with power and water hook up. We also had a large car trailer in tow with us too, and there was enough room to park both of them. The covered Gazebo had light so we hung out under it and played UNO for a bit. It was so nice being able to rent out the yurt. It was very cool. There’s a pool table in there so the kids had a lot of fun shooting pool and playing games plus it was a great place to do the dishes and a little bit of cooking. There is a full-size bathroom inside the yurt, which was awesome because our tanks are not that big on our trailer so everybody got to shower. There was not a burn ban, so of course we had a great fire and kids got s’mores !!! The host even had firewood there for our use!! Most places charge extra for that. This is a 10 out of 10 recommend!!! We will absolutely be back!!!

We are as smitten w/ this place as everyone else. Read the reviews. They are 100% spot on. Want wildlife? Especially birds? Bring your good binoculars. Stay extra days. Karin & Michael are ideal hosts. We already have our return trip booked. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We did need an extension cord to plug-in because the power junction box wasn’t as close to where we wanted to park. So throw in an extension cord. This place offers a refuge for wildlife and campers. LOVED it. ALL THE STARS.

Weekend Trip to Otter Pond Riverfront Getaway

This place was amazing. Everything we were hoping for. Trish and Kary were fantastic. Very easy communication prior to the stay. Kary met us upon arrival. They had a great gift bag for us and even cool stuff for our pups. The spot itself is really something. We saw a number of deer along our way. Lots of different bird varieties and countless stars at night. The river was pretty ashy after some hesvy rains but was easily accessible and there are multiple spots with seating and fire pits around. The vintage trailer on site was really nice and I showered comfortably. I’m 6’5 and had no issue! Although I’d like to keep this place as our little secret, it’s too special not to endorse to anyone on Hipcamp!

We had a very relaxing and lovely time! We travel in a 30ft class C. We fit perfectly. We also travel with a medium size dog. There is an old logging road right across the street perfect for walks. There are areas on site that are perfect for middle of the night when puppy has to go. Yes, the owners are on site, but other than the initial greeting we didn't see them. We were relaxed. There was enough room to park our extra vehicle and set out chairs. We work remotely, so while our phones were fine, we did struggle to get strong enough service to work. But if you are not working, it is perfect. It was a wonderful spot and we will be back. Oh, Starlink worked great.

Weekend Trip to Edelgran Forest Camp

Great camping spot for our group of (3) adults but could see this as an ideal spot for a couple. You’re close enough to civilization in case of an emergency but far enough to feel private aside from the occasional distant dog bark or donkey bray. Having a picturesque walking trail built-in was fantastic and offered a good opportunity to exercise and soak in some afternoon sun to warm during a very cold weekend.
