My family bought this property from a wonderful man renowned in the world of plant pathology. My father once asked him, "George, what is the secret to a long and happy life?" We are fortunate to live here, and we want to share the beauty with you. Please stay here and take a moment free of worry and free of hurry.
About the hosts: Camas and her father, Randy, co-host this property. One or both will be onsite at all times should any issue arise. Please message if you need a last-minute booking and it appears to be blocked. We can't do an "instant book," but there's always a possibility that we can accommodate you.
About the site:
This 17-foot 2005 Jay Feather Ultra Lite trailer is clean and cozy - perfect for one or two people. A third person is welcome, but it will likely be a little cramped. The double bed has a memory foam mattress and is made-up with quality sheets. Towels are provided at no extra cost.
The kitchen has a 3 burner propane stove and oven, a small fridge, a microwave, and sink. Coffee, tea, tea kettle, French Press, creamer, and sugar are provided, as well as a few dishes, a pot and pan, and utensils.
The spring water is sourced directly from our property and filtered, so you can enjoy it from the tap! In my opinion, it's some of the best water around - feel free to fill up before you depart.
The site is set back from WA-State Route 106, but only by about 20 yards. There is traffic noise during the day, but it's not too bad, and it is typically pretty quiet at night. Hopefully you enjoy the sounds of wildlife ~ birds, lapping waves, and even a creek add to the experience.
A panoramic view of the estuary is one of the best parts of this property. It's dreamy, really. With the tide changing every 6 hours, you just can't get bored. You may fall asleep to tide flats and wake up to what feels like a lake.
If you like being on or in the water - bring some kayaks, surf or paddle boards, and some high quality water shoes (never go barefoot!). You will have access to 400 feet of private beach and tide flats. Kayaking is tide dependent - recommendations for paddle times will be in the binder.
(Currently closed to harvesting 6/23) If you have your shellfish license, feel free to harvest a few oysters or clams (depending on DOH recommendations) . Be aware - it is a rustic beach, and it is across the highway, so watch for traffic and watch your step on the beach.
Our house is within sight of the trailer, but you have to make an effort to see it. From our house, we can only see the parking spot, and due to shrubbery & a shed, we can't hear talking voices, so it is pretty private. We do have 2 very friendly, small dogs who will undoubtedly alert us to your arrival, but they stay on our deck and quiet down right away.
A welcome binder and maps will help you get an idea of the area. For a tiny town, Union has a LOT to offer - there are several dining choices within a few miles. Union was even listed in the top 10 "Prettiest Towns in America" in Forbes Magazine in 2009!

All the neighbor's also have acreage, so it feels more spacious that the property lines show.😜 Forest/small farm land with campfire pit close by and available, as long as no "burn-ban" is in effect. Local, sandy beaches and docks within walking distance (2miles).
RV/camper/trailer site with electric plug in and garden hose water available. Dump stations within 5 miles of property. Must be checked in by 8pm. Check out is 12pm. Pets are allowed as long as they are friendly, and must be leashed as there are other farm animals loose on property, as well as neighborhood animals. Dogs, Cats, Chickens and Ducks on property. High-prey drive animals not permitted. Campers must clean up after their pets immediately.
RV/Trailer site can accommodate a 40+ ft trailer/RV including slide-outs and vehicle. Site is almost level, but longer RVs may need leveling. Terrain is firm, compacted grass and gravel.
Tent Site #1 accommodates a grassy site for a Hip-camper to pitch an up to 10 person tent, as well as a 10ft x 20ft designated parking spot on a grassy easement. Campers at this site must provide their own tent and amenities.

Jerrett was a wonderful host and met us upon arrival with great recommendations of places to explore on his beautiful property. The camp sites are clean, private, and have fire pits, and benches provided. We took the roped trail down to the creek (bring gloves its a bit steep) and saw large groups of salmon swim upstream. This time of year is magical with the dropping leafs and lush moss/fungus sightings. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick getaway from the city to connect to nature. What a lovely view and open space to enjoy! It was a treat to see Lisa with her horse and pony riding in the light of the setting sun. A bit of magic.
The directions were clear to get there. Loved being close to the beach and lighthouse to stroll to. The Bird King was close by as well. A lovely stay.

I keep coming back here because i love to photograph eagles. The camper is so cozy and has everthing needed for a stay. It's also very clean and extremely safe for a solo traveler. Camas, the hipcamp owner, is the best!

Honestly one of the best Hipcamp experiences I've had, I highly recommend!
The RV was clean, well maintained and extremely cozy.
The views of the estuary were amazing, even with heavy fog and rain.
The host was incredibly communicative, and welcoming.

We were looking for a night away to spend my birthday.
We couldn’t have picked a more perfect place for us. This was better than any hotel we could have Chosen. The set up Is perfect. She put so much thought into making our arrival special. From the personalized note/instructions, the flowers, little patio over looking the water to the privacy fence to the easy access to the trailer. The host was very responsive and it was soooooo clean inside.
We will definitely be back to enjoy it again!

This was one of the best places we have stayed (25 ft Motor-home) with a gorgeous view, super quiet and a fairly empty beach to walk down to where the dog could run free. Will be back since this is a great place to play and Vashon is fun to walk around and get some goodies. On the way , Point Defiance is a great park to check out too.

What an incredible slice of perfection. Camas is an amazing hostess, providing beautiful flowers and welcome treats, fresh fruit from the property, and a safe van place to rejuvenate. The views were spectacular and I counted more than 25 birds during my stay. The final night, Camas was kind enough to let me know the bioluminescence were visible. Pure magic from the shoreline. This is definitely a spot worthy of visiting and returning to.

We had a very enjoyable stay! 😊 our host, Nikki was great! Very easy to reach… This was my first time camping through Hip Camp. I was able to have a bit of a family reunion out there, close to family to come visit. Lot less stress for my 14-year-old sheltie, with no other campers around. Kayaking was beautiful! That’s what you’re paying for. The extra amenities I’ve experienced at other group sites would’ve included a porta-let and a safe fire pit area.

We had such a great time at Tahuya Marina and Resort! The bathrooms and showers were super clean, and it was nice having easy access to drinking water. Even with a burn ban, the marina had a perfect little spot for s’mores, which our kids loved. The campground made it easy to get to the dock and the general store, so everything we needed was right there. We’ll definitely be back!

Good camp spot, located close to a ton of stores, dump station, laundry, etc. A great spot for resource reloading as the site has water and power for a great price! Danika was super communicative and helpful. It is in the house’s front yard so if you are looking for a very private spot this probably isn’t for you.
