Carl’s property was so beautiful. I loved the sound of the creek and the wind chime. The set up is so great! Nice private space with a fence and loved the lights around the exterior of the property. He had it looking so good with some awesome little decorations. Very inviting and so peaceful. So many deer came by in the evening.
We felt welcomed by both Carl and his wife. I would definitely recommend Spike Camp to all!

This was our second year visiting Jim's lot because it is a perfect setup. Easy to get in and out, great gazebo level site. Super quiet. Full hookup and super clean. 5 minutes yo the golf course and 10 minutes to town.
Five stars!!

Had an amazing time, plenty of space + parking for our group of 15 and we were able to pitch a few on the river bed as well. Port a potty was clean and stocked with TP. The public access is adjacent to the spot as advertised, but didn’t bother us as reviews were accurate and everyone clears out by nightfall. Swimming in the river was an absolute delight, current wasn’t too strong and fun to see some fish jumping in/out of the water. There’s also ample shade at the main site with plenty of tree cover. The host gave accurate directions and our first camper was able to find it no problem. It’s an off-grid, beautiful place and we’re grateful for Don sharing his property. We will be back!

This place is spectacular! Stayed there Tuesday thru Friday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Had a few people on the beach during the day. The beach closes at dusk leaving you all alone and secluded. Donald is a gracious host who stopped by the second day to make sure everything was good. I highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back when in the area

We asked to stay very last minute and Carl made it happen for us! We were grateful for somewhere to stay during our fishing trip 🎣 Carls backyard is beautiful and so calming! The lights and sound of the creek made for a beautiful backdrop to a very pretty evening. Thanks Carl!

Lower camp is a treasure! We highly recommend camping here. Our stay was from Tuesday thru Friday and it was quiet nearly the entire time. Lower camp is adjacent to a public access beach, but during our entire stay there were only a handful of day adventurers/fisherman. We had plenty of space for our group of 9. We set up 3 tents split between main camp and one tent down at the river's edge.
Donald was an incredibly gracious host and ensured our stay was as perfect as his land. We highly recommend staying here and we are already planning our return for next year!

Carl shares a beautiful, peaceful location to relax, fish, unwind! You’ll have your own lovely yard which pups and kids will love, partially fenced, surrounded by potted trees and flowers, and bordered by woods, so you have privacy and a great stretching-out space. Complete with a babbling brook for background music! Speedy communication, great directions, friendly and helpful hosts - very available if you need, but also very mindful if camper’s privacy. Right across the road from the public boat launch. Property has plenty of driveway space for maneuvering a big rig, truck/trailer, camper, etc. While electric/water hookups are on the passenger-side of the site, we were able to easily hook up to both. Resort cafe just a short walk away if you want dinner out. We were visited by a young spike, a doe and her fawns, and even caught a glimpse of a raccoon! One of the best spots we’ve had the privilege to visit. You’ll love it!

Cannot say enough good things about Don and this land! It is absolutely gorgeous, spacious and so serene. We got a little lost coming in and Don quickly rode down and helped us get set up. He was very accommodating and chill, exactly the kind of host you want! He checked on us but left us to be fully unplugged and relaxed. You couldn’t possibly be closer to the river, and it was as peaceful as you can imagine. The public access next door didn’t bother us, but I’m sure we made enough noise of our own :) and most importantly, port a potty had obviously been cleaned just before we arrived, which was seriously appreciated. Thanks Don!! We will absolutely be back.

We had a great time at this campsite! The site was large - we fit three large tents and it could probably fit one or two more. The portapotty was very clean and convenient. Don met us at the campsite when we arrived and was very welcoming. The river is right in front of the campsite, beautiful clear water with a gorgeous view. Would definitely recommend this spot for camping and swimming!

This spot is beautiful in a quiet neighborhood. The neighbors are friendly but not intrusive. There are lakes with swimming close. Although we didn’t have kids, the lakes include playgrounds for kids if they get tired of playing in the water. There are also hikes nearby, there was a fire when we visited so we weren’t able to do the hikes but found plenty to do. It’s quiet, quiet quiet if that’s important to you.

I had a wonderful time with out family outing. We stayed at lower camp and had multiple families there with some coming and going through out the weekend. Donald was amazing about helping with all my updates of my reservations and continuing changes. He came to meet us the first day right away and dropped off wood in a trailer for 25 dollars which saved us a lot of time and effort haha. The weather was prefect to be in the beach although it is rocky once in the water (yes it’s cold) the kids didn’t seem to mind. There was wildlife including fish the kids had a blast discovering. I would highly recommend this location especially if you have a large group your planning a camping trip with and want a great river view/place to hang out in peace.

Very nice spot! We loved the neighborhood and our dogs enjoyed the walks there. We especially loved the covered patio spot. We have ATT and there is not cell service there but we just went into Hoodsport and saved the directions to each trail we were doing on our phones. We will definitely be back!

Hi! Great spot! Would definitely come back again! We felt safe and it was super clean. We came 4th of July weekend. It was little loud with fireworks but not outrageous. We expected that anywhere we camped. There is a semi busy road next to the spot. All my friend had ear plugs and slept through the night. Don't let any of the negative stop you from going. Its such a beautiful spot next to the next to the river.

The Shaw farm was a very quiet and peaceful place to camp. I saw deer pass by which was nice. Barely a car noise could be heard and hardly any cars. Schafer State Park is nearby. If you get to Elma and looking to eat, the Rusty Tractor was really good.
If you're looking for a nice quiet place to read or paint or unwind, this is a great choice.

Very peaceful and beautiful spot with luxury amenities, the neighbors were so nice and helpful (heads up there’s space was a bear to back into with my 33ft TT but in a newb and solo, luckily he had his neighbors help and save the day! Beautiful area and hikes, would return!
