Tucked Away Retreat evolved from empty acreage to an easy retreat from the city and an opportunity to share our love of the rural life. Located in the Chapman area of Scappoose, this area is rich in logging history; the Crown Zellerbach trail is an old logging road and now an 18 mile hiking/biking "story board" of the life and culture of both the Native American Indians that lived in the area and the evolution of logging. Just over the peak of the CZ trail (which is approximately 3 miles from our property) is an old mine, just one example of many hidden areas to explore. Our retreat is just 45 minutes from Portland, yet feels a world away. You can relax in the quiet or explore the trail, the small towns that dot Highway 30 or head to the river. If you continue West on Highway 30, you will pass through many small logging towns, the old Trojan Nuclear site and eventually land in Astoria on the coast. Learn more about this land: Tucked Away Retreat is quiet and peaceful yet 45 minutes from Portland. Located on 4 private acres, watch the deer wander through the property or the hawks float overhead. Bring your bikes and hit the Crown Zellerbach trail, or hike it instead. We are located approximately 0.8 mile from the trail. Visit Sauvie's Island, the largest inland island in the United States. Paddle or kayak on Scappoose Bay, head up to the Trojan frisbee-golf course, or just relax on the lawn. We are also an easy drive from Vernonia, the Nehalem River and Big Eddy Park. We offer two sites; Site A is on flat gravel that enjoys full sun. Site A is across from the large grassy area, perfect for sunning and relaxing. Site B is on gravel on the upper drive and is shaded most of the day. Site B is best suited for camper vans, truck campers or small trailers due to trees along the back curve of the driveway. Large trailers/RV's and motorhomes will fit in Site B but you may need to back in. Site B is backed by our private, small shop. The two sites are separated by trees. Both sites have 120v, 30amp and water hookups. The property can accommodate one or two additional RV's in spots adjacent to both sites for multiple vehicle groups; contact us for more information if you are a larger group. Additional vehicles are an extra charge. Please be aware that we are RV only, we have no outhouse, so we cannot accommodate tents or folks who want to sleep in their vehicle. We will consider an exception if you have a RV/trailer and kids who want to sleep in a tent. Please reach out to us prior to booking for this exception. We do not allow "shower" tents. Also please note that there is no cell service once you leave Highway 30; you have to have WiFi calling capabilities to use your cell phone. These sites are on our private property. For Site A, you may position your RV to view the grassy area and not the house.

The lodging is set away from our home in a private part of the property. We are surrounded by woods and views of the cascade mountains. We have solar panels on the cabin for power, there is potable water in a storage tank that feeds the sink at the deck and the outdoor shower behind the cabin. The toilet is a composting toilet and is set about 100 feet away from the cabin. The CZ trail is close by, there is a trailhead about 1 mile from our driveway. The CZ trail is a bike, pedestrian and horse trail that runs from Scappoose to Banks. There are restaurants and grocery stores in Scappoose and nearby St Helens. There are also many local farm stands, including ours.

Weekend Trip to Whimsical Studio Loft

Roshin and her partner were very friendly and generous. It was a nice change from most other accommodation experiences where they are more commercial and transactional these days. We enjoyed her really cool studio, and had access to a dedicated bathroom and common kitchen in her main house. Our pup also had an incredible amount of fun in her beautiful backyard. Also, Samosa is just the sweetest!

Absolutely loved it here!! Amy was warm and welcoming and communicated before/throughout my entire stay. The property is so beautiful and the cabin is immaculate. My pup and I stayed here after a week-long trip down the OR coast and it was the perfect place to stop for a couple days before heading back to Seattle. Will definitely be back here!

Very fun studio with art supplies and a great vibe. Cooled down nicely even on a 95 degree day, but you probably don't want to stay there if it gets over 100. Host was very kind and accomodating.

🌲 Peaceful Paradise in Nature 🌾 I can’t say enough good things about this tiny cabin stay! From the moment my dog and I arrived, we were greeted with the calm and serenity that only nature can offer. The cabin is nestled perfectly between wide-open fields and a quiet forest, making it the ideal escape from the hustle of everyday life. Waking up to the sounds of birdsong and sipping coffee while watching deer graze in the morning mist was something truly special. I even spotted a red tailed hawk hunting the field for its dinner! It’s clear that this land is lovingly cared for—everything feels thoughtfully placed and well-maintained, from the large fire pit to the clean and comfortable cabin itself. You can really tell the owners take pride in their work. Every little detail, from the welcoming atmosphere to the handcrafted touches inside the cabin, makes you feel right at home while still completely immersed in nature. If you’re a stargazer, bring your telescope as this has a wide open sky view! Highly recommend if you’re looking for peace, quiet, and a deep breath of fresh air. We will absolutely be back! 🌿

Staying at Whimsical Loft Studio feels like crashing at a cool friend’s place—comfortable, inviting, and full of fun, creative energy. It’s as cool as it looks, but not in a staged way—you can tell interesting people live here. The hobby and craft supplies add charm, and the sound of rain on the metal roof made for the best sleep I’ve had in years. The host is communicative, responsive, and generous.

Michelle was the greatest host ever! Super friendly , super welcoming 🤗 The tiny house village is truly one of a kind! She thought of every single detail when building them - we stayed at the Tiny Perch - the cutest little cabin with everything in it one might need to feel comfortable- from a full kitchen with appliances to a bathroom with a tiny shower, a super comfy bed. And even bins for pets with towels and 💩 bags in case you needed some extra She really thought of everything!!! And the labeling- what an amazing idea!!! It’s like this all comes with instructions 😍 I can’t recommend them enough - will definitely be back and not once! For sure!!! The forest and the river are the cherry on top!
