Since 2015 I have been regenerating the soil and improving this once barren property. There is now diverse plant life on-site which attracts diverse wildlife including insects, birds and reptile. Your stay here helps us to pay the bills to keep making this small patch of earth better.
The property is on a sunny bench not far from the ocean and usually above the fog line. Our location gets ample sunshine most days and is surrounded on 3 sides by a small forest. The property is fenced and access is by gate. There are two seperate campsites which are separated by our central garden and bamboo plantings.
Both sites can use the portable toilet, shower and sink. We keep them clean, odor free and sanitized.
Bring your outdoor gear! Adventures aplenty here on the central coast. Your hosts are avid surfers, cyclists, hikers and can help direct you to the best spots to match your skill level. The property is close to town as well as bike loops, gravel roads and trails. We're also close to the beach. Within a short drive surfers of all levels can find something fun to ride nearly everyday. The 18 hole golf course is just down the street and the town of Waldport is 2 miles away. Yachats is a short 12 min drive to the south where you can find amazing restaurants like The Green Salmon Cafe where they serve fresh roasted coffee along with a large menu of drinks and treats.
White sand beaches are located just down the hill from us where you can walk all the way from the mouth of the Alsea river to the mouth of the Yachats river. Forested and easily accessible walking trails are also nearby. South of the property is Cape Perpetua - a natural wonderland with whales, tide pools, blowholes and a 26 mile trail system. Enjoy the scenic 15 mile drive from the farm to get there.

Our farm is nestled at the end of Honey Grove Valley in the lush coastal mountains. The creek meanders through our seven acre property. The north side contains a field, small orchard, greenhouses and barn. The south side is steep and wooded with healthy riparian. An extension to the Honey Grove trail leads out of the property accessing a user maintained hiking/mountain biking trail with 1.5, 3, 5 and 7 mile loop options.
Other nearby activities include hiking and mountain biking in Mary's Peak and Alsea Falls recreational area. Access to the Alsea River is located 1.5 miles from the property on Honey Grove Road or at nearby Clemmons Park.
The guest cabin has two rooms and can sleep (4) guests comfortably and up to (6) guests. It contains (2) queen size beds, and one pull out couch. One bed is in a loft accessed by a ship ladder. There is a small kitchen and an un-attached bathhouse. The toilet is non-flush, composting. From the designated parking area there is a 200 foot walk along a gravel path to the cabin.
Other features include a fire pit, wood fired sauna, and creek access for cold dips. Internet is available in the cabin. There is a Level 1 vehicle charger available for guests.
The property also contains a host residence. The area around the residence is for the hosts.
The cabin and the property are very quaint and inviting but also very rustic. Do not be surprised to see a few or many spiders, slugs and other bugs. There are occasional bunnies, wild turkeys, Garter Snakes by the ponds and newts on the trails. Please maintain good situational awareness when enjoying the property as structures and grounds may have some inherent hazards.
The barn is off limits. Greenhouse and gardens are fine to explore as long as doors and gates are closed and dogs are kept out. Please refrain from harvesting produce and/or eggs unless accompanied or given permission from hosts directly.

Our campground is small to promote a peaceful experience. We currently offer 2 sites, with a 3rd in progress. The Zen Den is an off-grid glamping experience in a round, wooden, cozy bungalow overlooking the rhododendron garden (max 2), and the Peace Pad tent platform, an 14 x 14 raised wooden platform ready for your tent, in a meadow next to a gently flowing creek (max 4 adults). Four permanent residences also enjoy the beauty of Nelson Mountain Gardens. Each are separate and away from the campsites.

There is no cell phone service in our rural area. Limited wi-fi is available in parts of the rhododendron garden and at the barn for making necessary calls (no downloading, streaming or extended video calls). A phone charging station is located in the sauna house and in the shared loft / kitchen. Parking onsite is free.

We've recently finished building a barn workshop, a covered timber frame deck in the meadow, and a very unique woven tree net that you'll be sure to enjoy!
No dogs living here, just one friendly cat, otherwise it's squirrels, birds, and the occasional wild turkey procession or coyote.
There is a large garden, and when growing season is on, we may send you packing with some fresh greens or veggies! If you see us out and about, feel free to come say hello or ask questions.

Eugene is 25 min, and the beautiful Oregon coast is 45 min drive if you want to smell the ocean air and visit Florence.

We use a dynamic pricing model based on four years of bookings, so the dates you ask for will give you an accurate cost, which may differ from the generic listing price. Summer, weekends, track meets — we allow demand to influence rates.

"Enchanting, magical, uplifting" -- those are words used recently by our guests, describing this wonderful space. Twelve sides, windows all around, surrounded by nature, yet close to town.

Picture a cabin made of cedar and glass. It has wi-fi, heated or cooled to your comfort, a super-comfortable queen-sized bed with memory foam, a chair for reading, a fold-out desk, and a table and a coffee pot. All the bare essentials, in one place.
(Not in all the the photos — we've added lush, room-darkening curtains all around for privacy and to aid those who prefer sleeping later.)
It's situated to be rustic and inspirational, nestled into the back corner of a deep lot. There are fruit trees all around and a seasonal pond that attracts ducks in the spring and early summer. Depending on the season, you can listen to birds and frogs from inside the roundhouse, or cross the footbridge to the south-facing deck behind the workshop -- another private space for your "get away from the bustle" contemplations. Or enjoy the firepit.
Follow the wending path to the front fence and everything is nearby.
The bathroom (with tub and shower) is at the rear of the main house, right near the back door (about 30 yards from the roundhouse). It's private and only barely shared. (We have another bath-and-a-half elsewhere in the house.) We have a clever curtaining and folding wall system that can give you extra privacy if you want it. You'll be left as alone as you choose to be during your visit.
With a little bit of planning, we're happy to share our full kitchen with you during daylight hours. Same with the laundry room.
We're sharing our home with you, so we ask you to be respectful of that. We love to brag about Eugene and Oregon, and we're happy to share what we have and what we know.
We cannot guarantee that your visit with us will be enchanted and uplifting, but that's what we hope it will be. We'll do what we can to make it so.
Our listings include a 9.5% room tax assessed by the city of Eugene. Those added funds are used to promote tourism and other good things around Lane County.
Guest access
Late arrivals are easy to facilitate. The house is easy to find, even in the dark. The street is well lit and we have path lights to guide you to the roundhouse. Since it's a completely separate building, there's no need to worry about waking anyone. "We'll leave the light on for you," as they say.
What will you need? Fridge, microwave, coffee pot, toaster oven -- all yours. Laundry, full kitchen, yard, neighborhood -- shared. (Just ask.) We have gorgeous red velvet theatre curtains and a clever folding glass wall to divide spaces, but the intent is to remain permeable for hospitality's sake.
Other things to note
MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
#1. After over eight years on airbnb, this space is often "taken" for most times. If you'd like to try a similarly inventive space, on the same property, employing much of the same geometry (but larger and self-contained), check out our aloft apartment.
#2. Before you confirm your reservation, please double-check certain details. Have you inputted the correct dates and are you reserving for the correct number of (human) guests? This is important because those details may alter the price you're being quoted. (We give solo travelers the lowest possible rate. All others pay a bit more.)
#3. Our check-in time is usually (anytime after) 3 pm. Occasionally, we can accommodate early arrivals, or luggage drop-off before the space is cleaned. We always appreciate knowing roughly when you expect to arrive. That helps us prepare.
#4. We send all our guests an email with detailed instructions and up-to-the-minute details for their visit. Please include your best email address when you make your reservation.
#5. We have a (slight) presence on social media, so if you feel the urge to take pictures and share it with your friends, we'd love it if you'd tag us at "oreroundhouse" and "dksez"....
#6 We welcome dogs and other pets, but we ask for a couple of things. First, do let us know when you're bringing critters with you. Second, please don't let them roam our yard unleashed. The fence has holes. Third, leaving pets unattended for long stretches inside hasn't worked very well. Gnawed furniture, yelping, too much hair on the bedspread -- that sort of thing. We have two dog parks within walking distance, so there will be opportunities for them to enjoy themselves too!

Octopus Garden is a seaside cottage set up on sand dunes along the central Oregon coast. This is a classic retro 1950s cottage with spectacular front-row views of the Pacific Ocean, shoreline, and beach.
Since it is just two doors down from beach access, beach exploration here is endless, with golden-brown fine sand, no insects, and no litter. As this is one of the more remote stretches of the western seaboard, there are no high-rise hotels or condos—just cabins spaced apart, offering a unique feeling of being almost alone with the vast ocean and shoreline.
Wildlife is abundant, including birds and sea creatures. I have personally seen seals, and guests have reported seeing whales passing by while staying at the cottage.
Eagles are also frequently seen soaring overhead and landing on the beach.
Horseback riding is available nearby, including beach rides, as well as abundant hiking trails, especially around Cape Perpetua. Numerous scenic trails can also be spotted while driving along Highway 101 from Florence to Yachats.
The beautiful Heceta Head Lighthouse and Keeper’s Quarters are perched on a cliff near the cottage and are stunning in both location and architecture. Volunteers are often available to provide information and short tours.
The Sea Lion Caves offer a unique opportunity to observe sea lions safely in their natural habitat. Visitors can view them through glass and learn about their behavior. There is also a gift shop offering a variety of items for all ages.
Yachats has a fun, welcoming vibe with charming shops and great places to eat. One favorite is “Just Local,” which sells handmade crafts and kitchen goods with local style and flair. Another favorite is Luna Sea Fish House, known for fresh daily-caught seafood in a lively atmosphere. I once had lunch there while being entertained by a musician playing cello and other string instruments.
Florence, Oregon also offers numerous shops and restaurants, primarily in the historic Old Town area along the Siuslaw River. My favorite restaurant in Florence is the Waterfront Depot. The food and drinks are excellent, and the service is outstanding.

There are plenty of opportunities to hang out with the horses, help out with barn chores, help with garden/yard maintenance, enjoy the backyard fire pit (fire danger permitting) and s'mores or just sit back and watch the animals and enjoy a good book or a relaxed conversation.
We are pet friendly for well behaved pets with an extra fee. Both accommodations have a two-night minimum and a cleaning fee, along with 10% Oregon lodging tax.

Weekend Trip to The Dandelion
Stayed here for one night on a road trip up to Washington. It was so cute! All the needed utensils and extras were nicely provided. It’s a very small space but the outside space makes it feel a lot bigger. The projector was a great touch and the outside tub was my favorite! So relaxing just soaking under the trees.

The ocean view was great from the house and porch with comfy rocking chairs. Beach access two doors down made it easy to go back and forth from the beach. Nice to have a full kitchen as well. Will definitely be back. Thx for a relaxing beach escape!

Weekend Trip to The Land of AHS
The Dome is cozy and smells wonderful, like a cedar chest. The bed is comfortable and was warm enough on a Spring evening to not need a fire.
The bathrooms were in pristine condition and the shower got nice and hot. It was lovely waking up to birdsong and deer. I would definitely come back, hopefully for longer!

Property was easy to locate. The land was full of eclectic artwork and wind chimes.
The round house that we stayed in was awesome. The floor decorated in pennies was incredible. A very unique experience all round.

Weekend Trip to Nelson Mountain Gardens
This is a beautiful place to unwind for a little bit or a little while. We arrived at a time when the rhododendrons were in bloom and the sun was shining through the trees. It’s a peaceful property to take a walk through and use a hula hoop or jump on the trampoline if you wish. If I could change anything about staying in the Zen Den it would just be that the curtains were very translucent-anyone walking by could easily see inside if they were nosy enough, and that the GPS does not compute the correct address at first if you’re getting there from the north along Hwy 126~there are decent directions in how to avoid getting lost but we ended up getting there from a longer route at any rate because we missed our turning point. At any rate I’d still come back sometime knowing how to get there the right way.

We loved our stay! It was so peaceful. Amenities were perfect for what we needed. The dome was cozy and probably the best sleep I've had while traveling. Which was perfect considering we were visiting for the Eugene Marathon. Far enough out of town for quiet but close enough for a quick drive to downtown. The fresh cut flowers were absolutely beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing your space!

We really enjoyed our stay in Don‘s round house. All of the structures on the property were inspiring and fun to experience. Our stay was comfortable and felt private. The neighborhood was dead silent at night. I would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates an artistic builder.

Weekend Trip to Alsea Valley Farm
A lovely weekend spent listening to the rain as we fell asleep. Woke up to gorgeous views of the suspension bridge, got to take part in a sauna and cold plunge in the river, and even found some newts along the trail. An amazing stay and lovely hosts! They were very welcoming and such a cozy stay, we’ll be back for sure. :)

The cabin is tidy and cozy. There are a few games to play, and space to relax. We loved hiking the trails and hanging out near the creek. We heard a great horned owl at night. The property is lovely, and there's great communication with the hosts, who are friendly, and made the stay comfortable. The composting toilet doesn't smell bad at all, and the shower is really nice, with pretty mosaic tiles. This is our second stay, and its a great place to relax and play with family. Our kid really loves sleeping in the loft. Great views all around.

The property itself is very beautiful. The cabin has a lot of charm and character and it was nice being right next to the creek with the sound of the water. Communication with the host was both great before and during our stay. They were super helpful with getting the sauna going when we reached out. The cabin was clean and it was nice to have some legit cookware including stainless steel pots and pans and a cast iron skillet as opposed to the scratched Teflon at so many places. The kitchen has the basics like salt, pepper, and cooking oil. The wood burning stove has a good draw and heats the place well. Nice dried bundles were already next to the cabin for a very reasonable cost of $5 per bundle. There is an electric heating unit in both the kitchen and the bedroom. The only caveat being that they're not suppose to run at the same time. The cabin was really lovely along with the great host so we definitely recommend staying here.

Hebo Lake Campground
Very nice, small lake. Lots of fishing and families. Enjoyed walking around the lake with the dogs. Camp host was very nice including his dog Ida!

This is a horse camp use to be beautiful but the cov 19 is killing it. More people leaving their fires lit as they leave homeless people everywhere. Including the way up . This is a dangerous place to be . Beware!!! This Corporate company managing it never came once the whole 4 days we were there . They should be fired !!!

Sites closer to the water (like #13-15) are more private and secluded from the roadway. Hiking trails start from the campground, which is just off the highway. The visitor center is a short drive, hike or bike away. Beautiful coastal spot!

Loved this campground. Very quiet, only hearing the sounds of the creek and wind in trees all day and night. Somewhat expensive for a spot without any hookups ($26/night) but was a great stay. Does not have cell service there, but you can get Verizon service at the Cape Perpetua Visitors Center just up the road, or by using one of the trails from the ground (0.2 miles to visitor center). They have many trails leaving the campground and many in the area. Great spot to stay.

My go-to spot if i come back to the oregon dunes area. This campground, while central in the dune and OHV area, doesn't allow OHVs in the grounds so it is by far the quietest and most secluded of the campgrounds in the area. Surrounded by trees and right up against the lake with a great loop trail around it. Barely has a bar of cell service (verizon) when there. Has bathrooms and fresh water available as well. And spots are large with good privacy.

If Cape Perpetua is full, head 7 miles south to Rock Creek campground. It is run by the USDA and its a great alternative spot.

Trail hiking, beach bumming, sight seeing - do it all at this gorgeous Oregon coast spot. There isn't a bad view in the sight and tons of activities to choose from - good luck trying to fit them all in!

Pretty bare bones, just a porta-loo, no showers and only a few sites, but nice and quiet with roomy sites if you luck out! Plus it's only $13 a night. Make sure to stop at Haceta Head Lighthouse while you're in the area!

I stopped here for the first night of traveling down the southern Oregon coast in late August, and it was a nice place. I reserved online for $35. This was so nice to know that I had a spot reserved. The fog hung right on the coast but made a nice evening with a campfire and smores. Some of the campsites have little privacy, but site 15 has a nice trail that puts it secluded in a small clearing. (plus it is nearby to water and bathrooms) I did not get a chance to hike the trails nearby, but for my car camping trip this was perfect!

Disgusted to see what has happened to this campground. Camped here in July 2016, used to be a destination for our local family campouts, but no longer will be. Trash everywhere, a burned up tent and other suspicious debris left in one of the sites, broken glass, etc. The set up is weird now too, many of the sites are not apparent, so it seems like a free for all as to where you can camp, which makes it awkward. Some weird acting campers who appear to have set up long term (as previous reviewer stated). No attendant or ranger made an appearance to even check the bathroom during our stay. They should make this place a pay site and clean it up for those who actually want to enjoy it as a campground.

This campground really only has 4 usable sites, and only 2 are even worth camping in. There are no picnic tables, garbage service, or amenities of any kind, just a single drop toilet that is often lacking proper cleaning and supplies. This campground used to be ok, now it is largely overrun by long-term (homeless??) campers, often has trash, and just has a way more sketchy vibe than it did years ago. Lots of locals use this as a party spot too, so you can expect random late night drive thrus and disruptive visitors at all hours. Overall its not at all worth the long drive to the campground, especially when the sites are all often now full.

Campsites are a little close together but the incredible coastline and fabulous sites within easy hiking distance more than make up for it. Several campsites are more hidden off the road with thick vegetation providing privacy and a lovely river rushing by. Lots of well maintained trails for all levels of expertise and incredible coastline. Thor's well was by far my favorite.

The Cape Perpetua area is one of my favorite places on the planet. There are choices for easy or challenging hikes. Exploring Cook's Chasm, Spouting Horn, Devil's Churn, and Thor's Well at high tide will get your heart pumping with the power of the ocean.
