As a guest, you are free to access any part of the 220-acre property except other campsites (there is currently only one).
This listing is located on The Riverbend Preserve, a private nature park, so there is no hunting, fishing, or foraging. Please do not discharge any firearms during your stay.
The forest to the west of the Preserve is Washington State land, and on occasion locals go up into the hills to target shoot. In the unlikely event that this happens during your stay, don't be alarmed; the British are *not* coming.
This land is a nature preserve with lots of wildlife. You're welcome to bring your pet, but keep small animals close to you as there are coyotes and predatory birds in abundance. Black bears and mountain lions also live in the hills, so please always be cautious while hiking and exploring.
If you use AT-T, Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, or most major carriers you can expect good cell service. Single use or small cellular carriers may have intermittent signal or no signal at all after you leave the City of Chehalis behind.
Most important of all, relax and enjoy your stay in this incredibly peaceful and secluded valley.

Tucked Away Retreat evolved from empty acreage to an easy retreat from the city and an opportunity to share our love of the rural life. Located in the Chapman area of Scappoose, this area is rich in logging history; the Crown Zellerbach trail is an old logging road and now an 18 mile hiking/biking "story board" of the life and culture of both the Native American Indians that lived in the area and the evolution of logging. Just over the peak of the CZ trail (which is approximately 3 miles from our property) is an old mine, just one example of many hidden areas to explore. Our retreat is just 45 minutes from Portland, yet feels a world away. You can relax in the quiet or explore the trail, the small towns that dot Highway 30 or head to the river. Tucked Away Retreat is quiet and peaceful yet 45 minutes from Portland.
Located on 4 private acres, watch the deer wander through the property or the hawks float overhead. Bring your bikes and hit the Crown Zellerbach trail, or hike it instead. We are located approximately 0.8 mile from the trail. Visit Sauvie's Island, the largest inland island in the United States.
Paddle or kayak on Scappoose Bay, head up to the Trojan frisbee-golf course, or just relax on the lawn. We are also an easy drive from Vernonia, the Nehalem River and Big Eddy Park.
We offer two sites; Site A is on flat gravel that enjoys full sun. Site A is across from the large grassy area, perfect for sunning and relaxing.
Site B is on gravel on the upper drive and is shaded most of the day. Site B is best suited for camper vans, truck campers or small trailers due to trees along the back curve of the driveway. Large trailers/RV's and motorhomes will fit in Site B but you may need to back in.
Site B is backed by our private, small shop. The two sites are separated by trees. Both sites have 120v, 30amp and water hookups.
The property can accommodate one or two additional RV's in spots adjacent to both sites for multiple vehicle groups; contact us for more information if you are a larger group. Additional vehicles are an extra charge.
Please be aware that we are RV only, we have no outhouse, so we cannot accommodate tents or folks who want to sleep in their vehicle. We will consider an exception if you have a RV/trailer and kids who want to sleep in a tent. Please reach out to us prior to booking for this exception.
We do not allow "shower" tents.
Also please note that there is no cell service once you leave Highway 30; you have to have WiFi calling capabilities to use your cell phone.

There is a firewood stand on site and bundles are only $5! The hobbit house is built back into a hillside and is underground, round doors, and arched ceiling stays true to hobbit architecture. This is a glamping opportunity. Inside the hobbit house there is a full bed for two, with a quality mattress and an adjustable bed frame that has a motor to lift body to sit up or you can raise legs. There is power inside and a small microwave for cooking. 30 feet away is a sink for cleaning and good drinking water. There is a bathroom area a short way down the hill with a flushing toilet and heated shower. Outdoors includes a fire pit, a few small springs and ponds and lots of trails to explore.
Your shelter and mattress will be top notch, however this is still a campground and you need to be prepared as a camper. Currently we do not have a refrigerator, bring your own cooler. No silverware, or plates are provided. You can heat things in the microwave or cook over the fire. Bring whatever utensils are needed. Within a couple miles of our location is Lewis River Golf Course, as well as popular water spotd of Merwin Lake Park, and floating the Lewis River. We have a scavenger hunt set up on the trails of our property if you want the challenge of finding our targets as you walk the trails.

I had a lovely stay at Amy’s little cabin! It is a beautiful open grassy area with trees all around, quite private, the cabin is super comfortable, with windows all around so you have a great view out, see the deer come through in the evening, morning and evening sun. The outdoor shower is wonderful, plenty of hot water, especially at night with the stars out. Nice little out door kitchen and with some plates, silverware and French press if needed :) I would definitely love to come back.

Weekend Trip to Fern Haus
Dionne was such an accommodating host to a large party. The site was clean, well maintained, and the perfect spot to camp with the comforts of everyday life. We had a dog with our group that stayed in a tent on the site and the area was perfect for him to run around and explore. I had such a memorable weekend birthday trip at this campsite and would definitely recommend any of the spots here. I can’t wait to come back next year!

Absolutely love Amy & Eric's tiny cabin. This made the top of our list of hip camps. The property was beautiful. The cabin was immaculate and designed beautifully. The outdoor shower and kitchen was amazing! The outhouse was nice and clean and doesn't smell. We saw a couple deer that went past the cabin, pretty awesome. Amy & Eric are wonderful, very responsive and accommodating. Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation. Will definitely return if the dates align.

Wow - this place is absolutely amazing. I wish we had been able to stay longer. The dome is huge and fully decked out with every amenity you could ever need. It was me + two 13 year old girls and we had loads of space. The sunset view over the river was spectacular! And the animals were so friendly and sweet. Kelly left us goat and chicken food so the girls got to feed them all and were over the moon about that. My daughter teared up a bit when she had to say goodbye to Boone the border collie. ◡̈ And to top it off, Kelly hand-delivered delicious homemade breakfasts for us in the morning. The girls officially declared this stay was better than any fancy hotel they’d ever been in. Thank you Kelly!

Absolutely loved the Dome, and again the view from the Dome was beautiful. Used the fire pit, BBQ, and outdoor shower. Definitely on our return visit list.

Our stay at Brian’s cabin was lovely; the parcel of land was teaming with wildlife and the cabin itself was stocked with everything we needed. Taking a technology break was super pleasant - we even learned how to play cribbage! Brian recommended a great hike to Coldwater Lake which I will definitely revisit. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone looking for a quiet break.

We had a great one night stay. The tent is well furnished and the outhouse set up is clean, ingenious and very close. It would be smart to understand the functions of an old school wood stove so you don't smoke yourselves out.
Pets are welcome on leash or tether but we were not aware that the family dog was free ranging. Very friendly dog but ours was unexpectedly surprised by the welcome visit at the door and it set a tone of watchfulness for us. Had we been aware, introduction and play would have been.
That said.. I give this one 5 stars on all scores and the eggs are as rich in quality as the quiet woods banking these spaces. Owl spotting was fun. ❤️

The tiny cabin was very comfortable, clean and had the perfect amount of space and supplies.
The outside kitchen was convenient and easy to use. Loved the golf and axe throwing. Trails were close but didn’t get to take advantage as we had our older dog with us. Amy and her husband were quick to answer any questions. Will definitely return!

Weekend Trip to Fern Haus
The Forager dome was super cute and loved all the mushroom decor to go with the mushroom forager theme! The place was very clean and all the essential for glamping were provided. There was also a good amount of outdoor space to set up an additional tent or to just to relax and hang out for the day. Dionne also provided good directions to get to the location, we arrived in the dark and it is back in the woods on the property so it definitely would have been a bit hard to find otherwise, but we had no issues.
Visitors should know that one of the other properties is relatively close to the dome and shares the shower and sink area. Most of the time this is no issue at all, as the areas are quite private and protected from each other by trees plus most hipcampers are very respectful. Unfortunately the wked we were booked, the group at the other property was a bit large and loud, but Dionne was wonderful to communicate with and was very helpful. She even picked up when we called late at night and helped to resolve. I would recommend this property and would book again if in the area.

Weekend Trip to Otter Pond Riverfront Getaway
We’ve been here several times and it is always fabulous. The trailer is very well equipped, the covered outside area by the trailer is perfect, and though it isn’t far from the owner’s home it feels very secluded. Big plus is a walk to the river where there is a fire pit for nighttime. We saw bats at sunset, many kinds of birds, and listened to bullfrogs in the nearby pond. One of he best places we have ever stayed.

Definitely beautiful and well maintained property. Nature is the backdrop, and all worries melt away.
The tent, bed, amenities made us feel like we were “home” outdoors.
I don’t really want others to book this, I want to be able to access this space again.
