We had an amazing experience at 24 on the Mountain. From the moment we arrived, John — the host — made us feel genuinely welcome. He is friendly, attentive, and clearly takes a lot of pride in this property. You can tell he loves sharing his slice of mountain paradise with guests.
The campsite sits high on the mountain with an unbeatable view overlooking Talbott Reservoir. We could see the dam, the water, and miles of gorgeous scenery. Sunsets and sunrises were unreal — the kind of views that photos can’t even come close to capturing.
The site was clean, private, quiet, and extremely well thought out. Plenty of room to park and set up, and the layout made it feel like we had the whole mountain to ourselves. We enjoyed the peace, the stars, and the total escape from noise and crowds.
John checked in just enough to make sure we had what we needed, but also respected our privacy. Exactly what you hope for in a Hipcamp host.
We camp a lot, and this spot is easily one of our new favorites. If you’re looking for a relaxing mountain getaway with breathtaking views and a great host, book 24 on the Mountain. You won’t regret it and you'll love the elevation of 2800+ ft.
We will definitely be back.

We loved this little campsite! The view was amazing! The site was well manicured with a very nice fire ring and plenty of fire wood ready for you to enjoy. Extremely quiet and peaceful. We will definitely return in the future.

We camped with a group of friends here and had a lovely time. The grounds are very well kept, sites are nice and flat. The views are amazing, mountain views during the day and stargazing at night. Our site (4) was the closest to a full time occupied camper. It was no bother especially since we had friends at other sites to be our hang out area. Just be aware in case you prefer total privacy. The location is convenient to Floyd for all the activities there. Also must recommend Dino's, a Greek restaurant down the road. The food was wonderful - BUT be prepared they only accept cash or check.

My friends and I rented four of the spots, and we had a great time. The views from the property were beautiful, and the location was perfect for exploring Floyd. The walking trail that takes you around the property was a great bonus.

-Level sites
-Convenient hookups on site
-Great for groups
-Walking trails on site
-Fire rings and picnic tables
-Peaceful surroundings
-Convenient location to a small store and floyd
Things to note:
-Sites have little privacy (this did not effect us because we booked all available sites).
-There is a family with children and a dog that frequent an unlisted site. They were kind and helpful.
-Sites do not have shade, so plan accordingly.
-Host was responsive to communication from our group.

Beautiful spot especially for our group camping trip with nice level spots. They have walking trails around the camp ground, not long but nice walking trials. There are a total of 5 spots and one is occupied permanently by a family that takes care of the campground. Mom and son came and introduced themselves, they were very nice. Other than that we didn't have any interactions with them they kept to themselves, they do have a dog. Easy drive to Floyd for a day trip.

Paula and John were super friendly host. They helped make sure that we were all set and comfortable and even shared some squash from their garden. The view from the RV spot was beautiful, and it was very private and tranquil. There was also a nice hiking trail to enjoy. I would recommend this place for folks looking for a private and peaceful place with a nice mountain view!

This campsite offers plenty of privacy and amazing Mountain Views. As there are lots of trees, you would be somewhat protected by harsh weather like rain and sun heat. Plenty of wood to keep the campfire going.
Things I would add to make the site better: level the area near fire pit, offer trash services.
Overall it was an amazing stay and would visit again.

This is a really special place. We loved the quiet, the view from the campsite, and the overall good vibes on this property. It's situated on a plateau with steep sides down to the Dan River, just across from Primland. It's also not far from Meadows of Dan with little shops with coffee, etc. The fire pit was perfect, with tons of firewood and two Adirondack chairs. Best of all was watching the fading sunset under the tall oaks, while regular fireflies and blue ghost fireflies came out. This area is just stunning and not as well known as Western NC. It's closer to central NC, where we live, and is a faster and more secluded way to get up in altitude and beat the summer heat. You can also check out the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway, famous Floyd, and dog-friendly Chateau Morrisette. Be sure to stop at Lovers' Leap overlook on your way home.

We had a great stay! The campsite was clean, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. The host was incredibly friendly and gave us awesome recommendations for hikes and local spots to explore. This was our first time visiting the Meadows of Dan area, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

Great spot on the top of a hill, easy pull in and pull out set up. We were passing through but looks like a great spot to spends a few days at exploring the trails. Dogs had a blast, we will be back if we come back down 81 anytime soon
