Welcome to Walker Creek base camp. You can use this beautiful secluded creek side campsite as your base camp for all of the many adventures waiting for you in Giles County Virginia. Or feel free to jump in the creek, dip your toes, go fishing, take out a kayak, hang out in a tube, or just sit and enjoy the campsite. We offer a fire pit just feet from the creek. This is the only site, so you will have it all to yourself! The site doesn't have a toilet or potable water, so please come prepared. We can easily fit a truck camper, truck top tent, small tear drop trailers, overland trailer, or Class B, C, campers You're also welcome to tent camp!The adventures Giles County has to offer includes: Walker Creek: At the campsite we offer a fire pit just feet away from the creek. The creek is great for fishing or relaxing on a tube. The Appalachian Trail: 50 miles of the AP runs through Giles. I highly recommend hiking Angels Rest mountain. The view at the top is Instagram worthy. The New River: Guided fishing trips, kayak and canoe trips, tubing, or fishing from the river bank. There are also numerous boat landings located throughout the county for your boat if you bring it along. I recommend a guided musky float for a real adventure. Big Stoney Creek: Trout fishing the stunning Big Stoney Creek is a must. Located in the Jefferson National forest, this stocked trout stream is second to none. The Cascades: A 4-mile round trip hike meanders along this shaded mountain creek to a gorgeous 66-foot waterfall. Located in the Jefferson National Forest there are two different routes to the falls. I suggest the creek side trail. You’ll thank me for it. Mountain Lake Resort: This gorgeous mountain top resort is where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed. So for a scenic ride to the resort, a fantastic dinner, and a little nostalgia I recommend visiting Mountain Lake. Castle Rock Golf Course: Located in Pembroke, VA, the golf course has 18 holes that offer a challenge to even a scratch golfer. Dining: A number of quality restaurants are located in our county. My recommendations are: The Palisades, Papas Pizzeria and Subs, La Barranca Mexican Grill, and Mountain Lake. All these adventures are no more than 20 minutes away from the campsite.

The site has a very slight to mild slope to the creek. Minimal leveling would be needed for campers. The campsite measure’s approximately 105’ x 75’.

We’re sorry but no water hook ups. Water will need to be packed in. The local town of Pearisburg is a 10 minute drive so purchasing or restocking provisions is convenient.

On leash. We’re sure you love your pet kids as much as we love ours. To be safe please keep your pet kids on a leash. This is a wooded area with natures animals all around that you pet kids might love to chase.

No toilet is provided. Please bring the necessary gear for #2.
No potable water
Bring your own water, purify from river or stream. Although the creek is just feet away and crystal clear, purification is recommended for drinking purposes. Additionally, the town of Pearisburg is a short 10 minute drive away so resupplying water or provisions is easy.
No showers
Bathe in river or stream. With the creek just feet away, cleaning up from the days activities is easy.

Please bring trash bags to collect all trash. Please leave this beautiful campsite gorgeous for the next outdoors lover.

Cell service is non existent at the campsite. No phone calls or internet. Although a short 5 minute drive to route 100 should restore connection.

There is a swing set and trampoline in sight of the campground but that belongs to a permanent resident of the area. Please stay off their property.

The site was very peaceful. The creek was very full and water was rushing along, which was a relaxing sound. The water in the creek was muddy and not clear like I was hoping. Probably due to the high water. The site was marked as advertised by 4 painted blue rocks. However, I would have liked a bit more signage to help upon arrival, as it was out “in the country.” It felt very secluded. Also, as indicated, there was little to no service in the area, so there was no checking to confirm we were in the right place. There were a couple of downed tree limbs near and over the fire pit. The grass on the site wasn’t freshly mowed, but it was managed. Overall, a very peaceful stay.

Beautiful spot, wonderful sounds of creek, crickets, and an amazing firefly show! The Host Todd was very fast to respond and answered all my many questions! Would highly recommend for a peaceful sleep and a nature show. Thanks Again Todd!

Wonderful spot! Sleeping by the creek each night was so peaceful, and we even got a visit from a beautiful heron! Todd was responsive and easy to reach. Would stay again!

Beautiful and secluded spot right by the water. My dog LOVED running around the open space. Perfectly located next to some AWESOME hiking. Host was super responsive and helpful as far as recommendations, etc. nearby. Would definitely stay again!

It was a really great location to just get away and relax. Easy access to Walker Creek and lots of space for our kids to run around. Kids loved the water and were even able to catch a few rock bass. Would come again!

Awesome spot right on the creek! Clean creek for swimming! Even after quite a bit of rain the site was still nice and clean and great for holding tent spikes. Aside from a few cars going to the cabins down the road, the spot was pretty secluded and great for taking the pups! Will definitely return, thanks!

Beautiful campsite! The river that runs along side of it is so relaxing. Todd the host made sure to have campfire wood provided for us and he even had 2 kayaks to use if we wanted. We had plenty of grass to park our 35 ft fifth wheel on and the picnic table was in great shape and the campfire ring great size! It was truly rustic camping just like we love! We had a wonderful and relaxing time while we were there! The only negatives were no WiFi available and we wished there had of been trails to walk our 2 dogs. We highly recommend this Hipcamp if you want peace and quiet time on your vacation. Thank you Todd!

This camp spot is excellent! Outlet host was responsive and friendly. The trickling creek is the perfect volume for falling asleep. The road in is windy and fun and the area has lots of narrow windy paved roads to explore the area. Would definitely stay again

My husband and I loved camping here! It was so quiet and beautiful. Todd was very helpful in answering any questions I had. The cut wood was a great feature, especially since it rained a few times during our stay. Also, the place where Dirty Dancing was filmed is not far from there!! 10/10 will stay here again.

This was perfect for tent camping. The host generously provided two kayaks and we enjoyed paddling up the creek. The creek is crystal clear and deep enough to float, paddle and swim. The site is quiet. There are residences further down the road, but I felt very private without being “bear scared”. I imagine that a family with kids would really enjoy this site!
