One of the possible camp sites at the main campground. This is in the middle of the loop in the road at the end. There are other sites on either side and a trailer situated just below. There is a primitive camp shower and compost toilet available for campers. Please make sure you get instructions before using. or you can also rent the trailer for the perfect larger gathering. This bathhouse capacity is for only a few people so for larger groups you need to rent trailer or supply duty bags until I can get a portapotty in.

Darlene was a fabulous host. Very thorough with explaining the property and how to use the amenities. If you would like a camping spot where you have a lot of privacy, surrounded by nature, and close to relaxing waters I highly recommend this camping location.

4 nights at Harbor View Circle RV Site

This was our second time at Harbor View and it was just as delightful as the first. The spot is perfect and the views are unbeatable, it feels like being in a nature sanctuary. Our son loved being able to swim in the water and we all loved watching the swans, herons, ducks, and osprey. It is hard not to be relaxed while staying there and we will definitely keep coming back! Barry and Judi are the best hosts out there.

2 nights at Earthwalk Ways Retreat

Wow. She is a gem. Take advantage of the river and Gazebo. Both alot of fun and solitude. Off the beaten path. Extremely quite. Tent sites are level. Mine offered trees. As I use a Lawson hammock style tent to get off the ground whenever possible. Much, much shade you're in a forest. Leave the site as you left it. I would go back. I was the only one using the tent area. A bonus for me. We'll done. Composting lue is and water set up was perfect and came in handy. I did not use anything else she offers. PEACE

1 night at Cross Creek Farm

We felt very safe and welcomed here! Hosts were amazing and helped us get our 35 foot trailer situated, which was a bit of a challenge. Our kids were able to feed the goats and chickens, which they loved.

Excellent setting in the city. They provided just about everything needed for a comfortable stay (including a fan). I highly recommend this place!

Weekend Trip to Riverdale Farms

Absolutely loved our stay here! Our family has already decided—we're definitely coming back. The river was beautiful, and the two campsites were close enough for convenience but still offered plenty of privacy. Easy access down to the river and everything was exceptionally clean. The owners were wonderful—friendly and communicative throughout our stay. The tent areas were level and shaded, which made for a comfortable setup. We even spotted a rat snake, which the kids thought was super cool! Everyone had a great time, including our dog on his first camping adventure. Highly recommend!

this was a serene experience, five stars. It was a very quiet place extremely peaceful with 10 out of 10 recommend and will definitely visit again.

First off, Judi and Berry are wonderful hosts who have many years of RV’ing experience. They made us feel right at home. And then, there is the view from the RV. We watched the swan family (mom, dad and 2 cygnets), the mallard duck family and when they weren’t around, the great blue heron came to visit. Of course, you can also walk down to the dock, enjoy a cold brew and watch the sunset. We will be back :-) Family

The hosts mowed the site on the day of our arrival which was very nice of them. We stayed for one night on our road trip and we enjoyed the site.

1 night at Bald Eagle Farm on the Patuxent

We stayed at site #3 “River”. Beautiful private shaded spot perched in the forest overlooking the marsh and river. Riparian wonderland filled with songbirds, hummingbirds, and frogs. Son delighted in seeing a pair of bald eagles soaring high above the campsite. Directions were clear and host responsive when we arrived. Just make sure and bring your own firewood, since none was available upon our arrival, and the woods had a limited supply to scavenge.

1 night at City Camp on Reedy Creek

We were looking for a one night place to camp close to Richmond and this exceeded our expectations. Even though we were in an urban setting, it really did feel like we were out in the woods. It was quiet and peaceful. The sound of the creek, frogs and crickets made for a perfect evening. I was a little concerned about the composting toilet but it was very clean, well maintained with no smell.

1 night at Camping at Wilderness Run

This was one of the nicest camping experiences I've had. The campsite is located at a brewery, so when I checked in I was able to buy some nice cold beer. Even the ground was nice and soft in the spot I picked out. I was feeling pretty burnt out at the end of a long day on the road, so I didn't go socialize - but the campsite is walking distance from the brewery if that interests you. Despite the proximity, I never actually saw another person during my stay aside from when I checked in, making it feel nice and private.

1 night at Cross Creek Farm

Rodney's place was perfect for us to spend the night. It was easy to find and Rodney was most hospitable: extraordinarily so since just the day before, a flash flood destroyed some of his animal containment fencing, so he was very busy with the needed repairs. Our camp spot was not affected as it was on higher ground that was sand/gravel/grass, so it still worked well for our van camper. He even provided us with a dozen farm fresh eggs (for only $5) from his own chickens. Thank you Rodney.

This place is so special it is hard to tell others about it. It is a place you would want to gate keep! The water was so cool. The camp sites were perfection. The bathroom was great. It felt so safe. This place is magical.

Really nice private sites. Our dogs loved it. We were just there for one night and it was rainy so we didn’t get to experience everything the land had to offer, but check-in was easy, the sites were easy to find and the land was beautiful. Thank you for hosting us!

The campsite was great. It was in good condition, good view, and secluded. Only problem I has was that I was promised a bundle of free firewood but there was no firewood available. I messaged the owner and he never replied to me, so if you have a problem with anything he may not respond. Over all though it was a good experience, just a bit misleading.

4 nights at Riverdale Farms

We enjoyed our stay at Riverdale farms, we rented both sites for full privacy! It was a beautiful property and we parked our camper right in front of the river. There were awesome concrete steps for access to the river and our kid enjoyed playing in the water. If we hadn't rented both sites, the second one is fairly close and shares water access. But they did say they had plans to make more privacy and a second set of stairs to the water in the future. The fishing was not very exciting but that could just be due to the water level or time of year. As for any of the noises mentioned in other reviews. We hardly heard the highway, trains or amusement park so we don't feel any of those were a bother at all. The gun range is on the same farm and a few hundred yards away so safety was not a concern at all since it is facing a different direction. But it was pretty loud when multiple people were shooting at once and our dog was not a fan of it at all. As we were leaving on Saturday morning it looked like they were setting up for a class on the range that would've been little loud, so that worked out well that we were leaving. Overall I would recommend this hipcamp since it was beautiful and mostly peaceful with great water access, plus the river was very clear and kid friendly for swimming.

3 nights at City Camp on Reedy Creek

Perfect getaway in nature while still being part of the city. The thoughtfulness of the campsites and amenities speak volumes about the sincere hospitality of the host - Isabella and family. My camper broke down (the crank broke, so it wouldn't close) while staying here, and Isabella showed me patience and compassion when I needed it most. I highly recommend checking out this neat little gem in the heart of Richmond... Truly a one of a kind in the city.

Learn more about this land: Come take a load off at this forested Richmond retreat overlooking Reedy Creek. Set up a tent, car camp, or bring your small trailer to one of two sites on a unique property backed up to 20+ acres of woods. Imagine a hidden gem where you can relax to the sounds of rushing water and chirping birds, but can walk or bike to coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks or the river. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately. Campsite W ~ Tent footprints: 1) 10' x 12' 2) 10' x 13' 3) 9' x 10' Campsite E ~ Tent footprints: 1) 15'x16' 2) 10' x 15' 3) 9' x 10' **Pricing is based on groups of up to four adults or two adults with children. For groups of five to seven adults there is an additional charge of $10 person per day. For groups of eight or more we suggest you reserve both sites and have the entire camp to yourselves. We are a Nature Retreat bordering Nature Conservancy land along a tributary and up and down the Rappahannock River. You can hike along the stream down to the river and up and down the river. You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed. You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well. We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest. Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. There are some great extra's here as well including an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor infrared sauna and massage chair. These spa features are another great way to get your zen on here. I offer Forest Bathing and individual retreat support sessions, an quarterly sweat lodge and also vision quest support if people would like to experience a solo nature immersion feast.
