There is now a policy of no outside pets allowed. If you have an outstanding reservation including a pet and need to cancel you'll be given a full refund. This is an active 55-acre horse farm. About 2/3rds of the property is developed with barns and fenced pastures and the other third is largely undeveloped areas with a loop driveway where most of the camp sites are located. There is a large white house at the far end of the property. The restroom for campers to use is located there. To one side of the driveway, on the way to the house there is a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Camp Cove Creek is located in rural Faber, Virginia which is 20 minutes from Charlottesville in beautiful Nelson County. In addition to the many natural features like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail and the James River, Nelson is home to Wintergreen Resort and Oakridge Estate and hosts events such as the Lok'n Festival, Camp Jeep, and Overland Expo. Camp Cove Creek was part of my grandparent's Waveland Farm. Originally situated on over 600 acres, the brick antebellum house across the hill was used as a hospital in the Civil War. The camp used to be a horse and cattle farm as well as a flea market and airport with grass airstrip when my mom owned the land. Our vegetable garden was down by the swimming hole. The airstrip still maintained as such in order to offer aviation-accessible camping. It is the future home of Faber Christmas tree farm and features over a dozen notable antique vehicles rusting in peace. Some models are of the same make and model featured on TV and film. Camp Cove Creek is easily accessible via Rt 29 and Rt 6 east (Irish Road). Our property sits at the confluence of Bear and Cove Creeks where wading/hiking/tubing is permitted and encouraged (with water shoes). We are continually trying to improve the site by removing old barbed wire, poison ivy, roadside trash, and invasive plant species in addition to planting Christmas Trees. It's a work in progress. This is your 30-acre camping playground! Licensed off-road vehicles, ADV and Dual-sport motorcycles, horses, personal electric vehicles and EVEN PRIVATE PLANES are welcomed! We encourage walking the route first as it has intentionally been left primitive to provide more of an authentic and fun getaway adventure. Overlanding does tend to scratch paint so wheel at your own risk, unless it's wet. There is a Volleyball court, soccer field, and now 18 holes of disc golf! Nearby in the soapstone mining town of Schuyler you can visit the home place of Earl Hamner, best known for his creation of The Waltons TV show. While you're there check out the Waltons Mountain Museum, which happens to be my old elementary school and my parent's former high school. The Rockfish River dam and quarry gardens are really cool too!

116 acres of forrest, hills and dells. Miles of hiking trails marked and well maintained. A small pond and beautiful labyrinth. Over 50 acres of deep wilderness woods. General Lee and his troops once camped here. But they cleaned up pretty good, so all you can really see is the old spring and wagon road. This is a working herb and small fruit farm. We have been experimenting with all kinds of exotic herbs and trees. Some make it, many don't. We sell dried herb teas. In addition we have 5 different kinds of bamboo. We use the bamboo for so many things. Camptown is our largest site. It features a large fire pit and a circular field that can accomodate 10 to 15 or more tents. You can also park smaller camper vans, teardrops, etc. in this large area. Good for parties, family reunions. The "# person" per site listing considers adults, not children... bring a whole crew of kids (try to have enough supervision - if there is such a concept!) The kids have such a great time out here... it is amazing. They love the labyrinth! By the way, that labryinth entrance is behind the kiosk. It's the largest of it's kind in North America. It seems like we made this place for the kids in ourselves and when actual kids see it they go wild. The last bunch were running and yelping with their picked flowers all round and round in the labyrinth for hours! Also, if you want peace and quiet we have beautiful remote campsites away from all the kids running around the labryinth whooping it up. (sites 4 - 6 - 8 - 9 - 10)

Only 15 minutes from the Swift Run Gap Entrance to the Shenandoah National Park our farm has a mountain feel. Our 17 acre slice of heaven is tucked back off the county road and up against the little chapman mountain. Large white oaks and Tulip Poplar trees are the main attraction along with the Mayapples in spring and the fall colors are terrific. The campsites are in the woods and around the field a good distance away from the house. There are walking trails and a pond and a hammock for relaxing, close to great hiking, summits and waterfalls, 50 minutes to Old Rag. Many local wineries to discover and many historical sites including Montpelier and Monticello and Charlottesville and UVA. Come on the 3rd Saturday to see Tom perform on his banjo at the local Farmers Market. "

This beautiful property on 60+ acres offers camping in hay fields that are bordered by forest, and have creeks running throughout. You can park directly at all of the sites. Pack-in, pack-out. No electricity or water hookups. The sites are best suited for tent camping and truck-top campers, though we've also had camper vans book our sites with a good experience. *Sandy Bottom: this is the flattest/most level option, with wide open field bordered by trees and access to Davis Creek. These sites are closest to 29, and you should expect road noise. There are natural springs clearly marked so you can avoid getting any vehicles stuck. *Crawfish Creek: This is the most secluded/quiet site, with creek access. There are natural springs around the creek in this location, so pay attention to the marked off areas to avoid getting stuck. *Sunset Ridge: This site has incredible 360 panoramic mountain views, and shares a driveway to the private residence. If you choose to bring dogs to this site, please know that they will be able to see (and smell and hear) our many animals and livestock guardian dogs. Safety, privacy and environmental impact is very important to us. Please contain all trash, human waste and canine waste and pack it out with you when you leave. Be kind to the areas in which you camp, as they are home to many wildlife, native trees/shrubs/plants and in some cases, food for horses and cows (hay fields).  PLACES CLOSE BY: Experience Davis Creek, woods, pastures, and miles of dirt roads for biking/hiking. Just minutes from the Nelson 151 Craft Beverage trail (over 15 family friendly breweries/winers) and right across the street from Woodridge Farm Brewery. There's Public Access to the Rockfish River .75 mile away. Charlottesville is an easy 25 minute drive. GROUPS: We only allow a small amount of bookings at each of our three sites to allow for a spaced-out, private experience BUT if you have a large group of people and would like to book an entire site we can add spaces to that site for the dates you are looking to book to accommodate; just shoot us a message.
