Great spot to camp! My dogs and I had the river all to ourselves - they had a blast! Plenty of space to set up camp and love that I can have my car on site. Picnic table and fire ring are a plus. Cameron was a great host and gave clear instructions on how to get there, as we were arriving very late. You can see/hear a road from the site, so that might bother some, but it didn't bother us at all. Highly recommend this spot - can't wait to go back!

Absolutely wonderful site directly on the river. Couldn’t ask for a more serene and beautiful location. Very easy to find, excellent fire ring, nice picnic table that seats four people—and Cameron was a great host. So nice to go to sleep to the sound of the river and wake up to the sounds of the birds. What a gem!

The sound of the river is very relaxing. My buddy caught a fish. It is next to a road, so if the sound of cars driving by doesn't bother you then you'll be fine.

We enjoyed this camping trip alot! Cameron was very responsive and directions were clear. The camp site was clean and relaxing. We enjoyed floating the river and bass fishing--lots of wild life around and the Cardinals will sing you the perfect tune at sunrise. We absolutely loved this spot!

We had such a wonderful time camping here. Easy parking, set up tent right next to the car and lots to explore on the rocky “beach” next to the water. We were visited by two black bears the following morning—but they ran off scared when they saw us. Make sure you bear proof your site, and respect nature! Lovely time. Thank you

This is our 2nd time at Rockfish Landing and it was absolutely amazing. Being on the Rockfish River being able to tube during the day and to wash off is unmatched. The land is excellent with ample space. Our puppy was able to be off leash and enjoy the outdoors. The only thing is that you're right next to the road but the cars passing by is something we don't mind at all.

This is very convenient car camping location next to the river. It was about 3 1/2 hour canoe float from the property to Howardsville public boat launch at the intersection of the James. We caught lots of smallmouth bass and a few sunfish.

Great location right on the river! We had a great night wadding in the river & relaxing by the camp fire. Host was very welcoming & gave us easy instructions to find the place. We hope to return sometime!

Primitive camp with a welcoming host! There was plenty of drift wood in the area for the fire pit, with a small picnic table right there. Plenty of parking, but soft sand in some spots, bring a 4wd capable vehicle if you're going to pull all the way in. Would recommend if you don't mind the very occasional vehicle driving nearby.

Nice spot steps away from the river. There was more than enough room for our large tent and several hammocks. The road is somewhat close by so we had to keep an eye on our roaming pup, but far enough away we could call her back when she started to roam that way. There were different spots to access the river to spread out the fun while we explored. It was mostly shaded which was ideal with the mid-summer heat. We had a lot of fun cooling off in the river and exploring it with our pup. No cell reception right at the tent sight but were able to send texts 50 yards away at the gate. Host was very responsive. We definitely will go back again.

Beautiful spot on the River with plenty of room to go explore. Dog Friendly and easy to get to. As others mentioned it is right on the road but was pretty quiet on a Friday night.

We had a really nice evening at Rockfish River Landing. This was a spur of the moment trip and this spot checked all the boxes. Cameron was nice enough to leave firewood for us at the campground when we arrived. Would definitely come back!

Awesome private campsite on the river! We stayed for a night in the fall and enjoyed cooking over the fire, the beautiful scenery, and the privacy that comes with having no other campsites on the property. A great place to stay after visiting the many nearby wineries. Will definitely be coming back in the summer and swimming in the river right at the campsite!

Amazing midweek getaway! Great weather and we even ventured into the river for an exhilarating early October swim!! Cameron is an excellent host! He left us firewood and was responsive to our messages prior to arrival and provided excellent directions. We look forward to meeting him on our next stay. The area is gorgeous and we enjoyed the sounds of the river and the falling walnuts! We would HIGHLY recommend Rockfish River Landing and look forward to returning again soon.

The property itself was so serene and beautiful. The river access and swimming hole definitely made the whole thing. As it is at an intersection of 2 roads, there were some vehicles driving by during the day, and even a couple while we were sleeping. But again, the campsite and property were pretty much perfect.

What a wonderful experience, with a ton of great memories made at Rockfish Landing. The site is great, don’t let being next to the road fool you, there is a spot next to the picnic table where you feel secluded.
The river access includes stairs with a great spot for the kids to play within eye sight of the camp. Then you have the rest of the land, where you can walk around and listen to the water or take a dip. We didn’t have the time to fit in tubing, but it looked like it would have been a blast.
And a trip here isn’t complete without meeting Cameron. He was extremely helpful throughout the trip, even offering to cut the grass to make it more comfortable for my daughter. That being said, the grass wasn’t unkept, it was as expected for a camp site. Cameron’s willingness to cut it just to make my daughter’s time a bit more enjoyable, is why I highly recommend this spot. The location and set up are great, but the owner is the best part.

Nice spot right along the river, we really enjoyed our fall stay. The leaves were beautiful. The campsite was a good size but make sure to go down to the other side of the property too because it's the most lovely place to enjoy your morning coffee on rocks beside the water! We were a bit surprised at how close the road was, and people do go fast so keep that in mind with dogs, but there was hardly any traffic after dark and it wouldn't stop us from going back. Highly recommend!

Beautiful view of the river and lots of peaceful spots to hang out! Cameron was extremely helpful with providing descriptive and accurate directions as well as bringing us out some firewood & chairs which we appreciated very much. The campsite is private and large, Cameron only books one group at a time so you will have the spot to yourself. Moderate road traffic in the early mornings and evenings (we stayed during the week) but this did not take away from our enjoyment of this beautiful spot whatsoever. Looking forward to returning in warmer weather to enjoy the river!
