Set up a tent, car camp, or bring your small trailer to one of two sites on a unique property backed up to 20+ acres of woods. Imagine a hidden gem where you can relax to the sounds of rushing water and chirping birds, but can walk or bike to coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks or the river. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately.  Campsite W ~  Tent footprints: 1) 10' x 12' 2) 10' x 13' 3) 9' x 10' Campsite E ~ Tent footprints: 1) 15'x16' 2) 10' x 15' 3) 9' x 10' **Pricing is based on groups of up to four adults or two adults with children. For groups of five to seven adults there is an additional charge of $10 person per day. For groups of eight or more we suggest you reserve both sites and have the entire camp to yourselves. Campsites W and E are about 80' apart. Both are around 100' to the creek. The spots can accommodate a total length (towing vehicle plus trailer) of up to 35 ft. There is an outdoor spigot with potable water and hoses for clean up. The woodlands and creek adjacent to the campsites have trails that are accessible to the public. You and your furry friends are welcome to use these paths, but know that others may be using them too. Richmond has so much to offer and we are just a hop, skip, and a jump to many wonderful attractions - kayak or sunbathe on the James River, walk or bike on trails around the city, rock climb, dine, imbibe. PLEASE NOTE* These sites are on a private property with a house that is visible to campers, but we give our guests complete privacy and don't plan to interact unless you need something from us. While you are on a 2 acre property backed up to a 20 acre wooded area, we are still in the middle of the city and you will hear city sounds. This is a safe space. We do not discriminate based on anything that makes you...you.

Accessible by car or canoe, East End at Seven Islands provides endless fun for the whole family, including your well behaved off-leash dogs. When you arrive take a cooling dip in a quiet “river pool”, relax on your private beach, or see if the fish are biting. Let your kids experience the best the river has to offer by exploring the shallows for crayfish, chasing minnows, or watching for Bald Eagles patrolling the river. Your site is approximately 2 acres, so you will have your choice of where to pitch a tent or place your camper or trailer. Spend your nights stargazing, enjoying a campfire (remember to bring s’mores ingredients), or fishing for catfish. This is an ideal family-oriented campsite about an hour NW of Richmond. Come, enjoy and make some memories! Children 10 and under are free On the other side of the river you might hear a train passing by at different times, both, day and night. Safety Notice: Not accessible by boat, canoe, or kayak when the James River level is 6 feet or higher at Scottsville. At 7.5 - 8 feet, there is not much beach to play on and the river is too dangerous to navigate. You can drive in and camp, but please stay clear of all water activities, including fishing, in these dangerous conditions.

There is also a stove in the cabin to keep you warm. 116 acres of forrest, hills and dells. Miles of hiking trails marked and well maintained. A small pond and beautiful labyrinth. Over 50 acres of deep wilderness woods. General Lee and his troops once camped here. But they cleaned up pretty good, so all you can really see is the old spring and wagon road. This is a working herb and small fruit farm. We have been experimenting with all kinds of exotic herbs and trees. Some make it, many don't. We sell dried herb teas. In addition we have 5 different kinds of bamboo. We use the bamboo for so many things. Camptown is our largest site. It features a large fire pit and a circular field that can accomodate 10 to 15 or more tents. You can also park smaller camper vans, teardrops, etc. in this large area. Good for parties, family reunions. The "# person" per site listing considers adults, not children... bring a whole crew of kids (try to have enough supervision - if there is such a concept!) The kids have such a great time out here... it is amazing. They love the labyrinth! By the way, that labryinth entrance is behind the kiosk. It's the largest of it's kind in North America. It seems like we made this place for the kids in ourselves and when actual kids see it they go wild. The last bunch were running and yelping with their picked flowers all round and round in the labyrinth for hours! Also, if you want peace and quiet we have beautiful remote campsites away from all the kids running around the labryinth whooping it up. (sites 4 - 6 - 8 - 9 - 10)

Imagine a hidden gem where you can relax to the sounds of rushing water and chirping birds, but can walk or bike to coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks or the river. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately.  Campsite W ~  Tent footprints: 1) 10' x 12' 2) 10' x 13' 3) 9' x 10' Campsite E ~ Tent footprints: 1) 15'x16' 2) 10' x 15' 3) 9' x 10' **Pricing is based on groups of up to four adults or two adults with children. For groups of five to seven adults there is an additional charge of $10 person per day. For groups of eight or more we suggest you reserve both sites and have the entire camp to yourselves. Campsites W and E are about 80' apart. Both are around 100' to the creek. The spots can accommodate a total length (towing vehicle plus trailer) of up to 35 ft. There is an outdoor spigot with potable water and hoses for clean up. The woodlands and creek adjacent to the campsites have trails that are accessible to the public. You and your furry friends are welcome to use these paths, but know that others may be using them too. Richmond has so much to offer and we are just a hop, skip, and a jump to many wonderful attractions - kayak or sunbathe on the James River, walk or bike on trails around the city, rock climb, dine, imbibe. PLEASE NOTE* These sites are on a private property with a house that is visible to campers, but we give our guests complete privacy and don't plan to interact unless you need something from us. While you are on a 2 acre property backed up to a 20 acre wooded area, we are still in the middle of the city and you will hear city sounds. This is a safe space. Let your kids experience the best the river has to offer by exploring the shallows for crayfish, chasing minnows, or watching for Bald Eagles patrolling the river. Your site is approximately 2 acres, so you will have your choice of where to pitch a tent or place your camper or trailer. General Lee and his troops once camped here. But they cleaned up pretty good, so all you can really see is the old spring and wagon road. This is a working herb and small fruit farm. We have been experimenting with all kinds of exotic herbs and trees. Some make it, many don't. We sell dried herb teas. In addition we have 5 different kinds of bamboo. We use the bamboo for so many things. Camptown is our largest site. It features a large fire pit and a circular field that can accomodate 10 to 15 or more tents. You can also park smaller camper vans, teardrops, etc. in this large area. Good for parties, family reunions. The "# person" per site listing considers adults, not children... bring a whole crew of kids (try to have enough supervision - if there is such a concept!) The kids have such a great time out here... it is amazing. They love the labyrinth! By the way, that labryinth entrance is behind the kiosk. It's the largest of it's kind in North America. It seems like we made this place for the kids in ourselves and when actual kids see it they go wild. The last bunch were running and yelping with their picked flowers all round and round in the labyrinth for hours! Wolftrap Farm was owned by James & Dolley Madison during their time, and they called it Black Meadow.  Their home, Montpelier, is just across the mountains you see from the campsite.  It passed through the hands of various local farmers during the 19th & 20th centuries, and for many years was a dairy farm.  It became primarily a horse farm in the 1970's, when it was owned by the German Von Wulffen family.The Cuthrell family from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area acquired the farm in 2003 and converted it to a resort farm, featuring upscale vacation homes.  Beginning around 2013, the farm started morphing into primarily a wedding venue, and now hosts over 60 weddings each year.

My partner took me camping for my birthday and he chose the site. The view was spectacular and the hosts were very friendly! There is a really cool train that passes on the other side of the water, and it is so cool to watch. We got a bundle of wood, and it lasted us all weekend. I was on site 2, and the only suggestion I might make is to perhaps make stairs going down to the water level area. I'll be back for sure!

Overall a decent stay. The staff at the brewery were confused about check in but we got it sorted out. It was in the colder season so we had a lot of privacy which was really nice. We enjoyed the ability to hang at the brewery/vineyard with other campers and we appreciated bathrooms available after hours. The butter beer and white wine hot apple cider were just what we needed that chilly night. Would stay again but my only complaint was it was hard to find a flat spot to set up. We found a decently flat spot but since we were sleeping directly on a mat on the ground we were shifting/sliding all night- prob would’ve been fine for a RV camper though.

We enjoyed our stay on this property! The archers den campsite felt very private and had plenty of space. We loved the big fire pit with cooking grate.. The three campsites are far enough away from the winery/brewery that you don’t feel like you are camping at public business. Even though they had live music playing and seemed pretty busy we could barely hear anything going on. On the other hand if you wanted to enjoy the festivities it’s just a short walk from the campsites.

The picnic table and fire pit were high quality and thus was the perfect back drop to the Fall season. Will definitely be coming back. Sheridan was wonderful and very quick to respond even when I mistakenly went to the wrong location, she redirected us with ease!

Wonderful campsite! Peaceful and nature-ific; such a delight right in the city. Loved the included wood on site and hammock. Absolutely recommend and would come back. Note that the city noises at night (which host is transparent about) are real; there are trains with blaring horns every night several times, so just bring your ear plugs. There are also coyotes, abundant birdsong and the babbling creek to listen to :)

This is a beautiful place with lots of space. We didn't have time to try the wines, but the beer at 1781 brewing (on the property) was excellent. Staff that we interacted with was very friendly. There are horses, chickens, geese and possibly cattle on the property, along with a beautiful pond. Although you can hear the truck traffic on Rt 3, it's not too bad. We had a quiet night to ourselves and the sunrise over the the grapevines was just extra.

This is a wonderful location tucked away in the city. A hidden gem. Everything is provided for you to include a bathroom and showers and a lot of firewood. Campsite E was very big and had many places to pitch a tent. We chose to car camp, but was still very close to the campsite itself. It has a play ground for children and a privacy fence to block you from the other campsite. The hammock is a nice touch, plenty of tables and chairs. Watching the sunrise over the creek in the morning was amazing.

Our group loved staying at Archer’s Den at Southern Revere Cellars. We really enjoyed the fact that our spot was hidden away from guests at the tasting barn, but if we wanted to the barn was an easy walk away to try the wine and beer. The fire pit they provide is a really nice touch and communication with the host was easy and timely. The only recommendation we have is to bring in bigger signage for each campsite. We totally missed the small sign/arrow for our campsite so we had to ask the host for the location. Overall great time and we will be back!

Learn more about this land: Nestle on the Pamunkey Indian Reservation also known for Spiritual Healing that overlooks the Pamunkey River. The Pamunkey people have been here for over 10,000 years making this area one of the oldest reservations in the country. During the full moon, the water on the campsite will rise and you will need to camp closer to the land.  Also, when the tied is out, you will not be able to launch the canoe or kayak. There is a short path to walk and it is a very short incline.   Please note that hunting season starts in October, and you may hear the noise.

Learn more about this land: Please note this is a boat in only listing--so launch your canoe or kayak upstream to float in and enjoy a stay! You MUST take the south channel (some call it "River Right") as you approach the Seven Islands chain to access  Campsite 1. You MUST take the North Channel or "River Left" to access Campsite 2.  See satellite imagery. Read on-- Approximately 8 miles downriver from Scottsville and 2.5 miles downriver from the Hardware River Wildlife Management Area, this is the Premier campsite for an overnight float trip on the middle James. With some of the best smallmouth bass fishing the James River has to offer, this is perfect stopover for a take out at the New Canton/Bremo Bluff boat landing 4 miles downstream. Enjoy an overnight or a couple of days. The 2 acre campsites are on an elevated sand and gravel bar on the north and south shores of Big Island. There's ample room for multiple tents and boats. Pools and slow moving water to cool off after your float down, and a great place for catfishing and watching satellite fly-bys at night. Plenty of Bald Eagles, Ospreys, and just about all of Virginia's animals inhabit this section of the James.  Enjoy the scenery!  KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK and GO  1. Check out river levels, forecasts and warnings. There can be class 1 and 2 rapids (and more) depending on river height. Very experienced paddlers only once the river gets above approximately 5.0 feet or so at Scottsville. The host will gladly rebook your stay should the river height not be safe for your group. Check James River height at Scottsville or other reputable data source.  2. You must take the south channel (some call it "River Right") as you approach the Seven Islands chain to access  Campsite 1.
