Get away from it all when you stay among nature in this secluded off-grid tiny cabin in the forest. Complete with outdoor grill, fire pit, picnic table, well maintained outhouse, miles of trails and a large swimming or fishing pond (catch and release).
This is a secluded off grid location without power, wifi, or cell service, so be prepared to UNPLUG and unwind.
Firewood for your first campfire is provided along with one tank of propane to run the indoor camp stove. Five gallons of drinking water are included with coffee and a French press. There is a cooler provided. Remember to bring ice for your groceries and sleeping bags!
Please include an extra rental fee of $20 for pets (up to 3). Multiple firewood bundles can be waiting for you at $8 each (a decent fire's worth per bundle). Extra guests (more than 2) are approved on a case by case basis for $10 each per day.

First site is a cabin for two nestled in the private woods on a ridge on the back of the property. Second site is a tent/rv site that sits on the edge of a 3 acre pasture on the bank of Marshall Creek. Other nearby interests include kayaking, tubing, and fishing the Dan River, Zip-lining, Pilot Mt. State Park, Also the town of Mt. Airy (Mayberry) from the Andy Griffith show. This land was once owned by Noah Hays himself. He was the main farmer on this land along with other farming land on this road. Hints the name "Noah Hays Road". We stopped farming this land long ago but some of his relatives are still farming on the land he use to farm on. You will see one of his old plots still being farmed across the street from our property. There is still the old cabin he use to live in along with an old curing barn they use to hang the tobacco in after harvest. What a wonderful stay at Christine’s treehouse! She has truly thought of everything to make this the perfectly cozy and relaxing stay. It has everything you need. The place is beautifully decorated and I felt like I was in a cozy artist’s studio. Even though the nights during our stay were cold, we were very warm and comfortable inside the treehouse with the heaters doing a great job. The views of the river from the treehouse is gorgeous and being able to open both garage doors to let the fresh air in really merged the outside freshness with the indoor relaxation. Christine’s property is also super cool! She has miles of hiking trails available and has stand up paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes available to use! There were even doggie life jackets! The treehouse is also only 45 minutes from Winston-Salem and the perfect weekend getaway. This is a stay we’d absolutely love to do again! (Also, make sure to follow the directions and NOT plug the treehouse address into Google Maps because that may lead you somewhere quite different).

Myself, boyfriend and two pups had the pleasure of staying at the Wind Song yurt this past weekend and it was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t have asked for anything better! Super cute cabin! Had everything we needed for the weekend even a s’mores kit!! Host were extremely helpful when we got confused with the lock box. The view was great watching the sunrise with the fog over the trees, plenty of paths to walk if you don’t wanna go to the Stone Mountain trail. We wanted a quiet place to elope with some of our closest friends we got that and so much more. Check out was super easy would definitely recommend for a quiet romantic getaway or even a small family vacation! Pet friendly accommodations for the bestest of pets. I don’t know how much more I can recommend, if you’re on the fence take the leap you won’t regret it in the slightest. We looked a so many other options but ultimately kept coming back to this one every time and glad we did! Thank you so much to the amazing hosts for having us and allowing us to have this moment here it will never be forgotten

Where to go
Claytor Lake State Park
Sweat on the trails, and then cool off with a swim in Claytor Lake. Reservations are required for tent camping, yurt, waterview cabin, and bunkhouse rentals by the lake, and they’re worth it—electric hookups and picnic areas are available at most on-site campgrounds. Check out private boat rentals at the marina for outings on the water. Anglers can also enjoy the fishing pier, while campers seeking scenery can hike Lakeview Trail for an easy walk by the lake.
Fairy Stone State Park
Known for the rare, tiny “fairy stones'' that fill the red sand, Fairy Stone State Park offers a beautiful destination for hiking, horseback riding, paddleboating, and swimming in the 168-acre lake. Tent camping, equestrian camping, and climate-controlled cabin or yurt rentals allow campers to stay overnight in the park, but cabins don’t include linens. Most campsites include fire rings and electric and water hookups. For a unique souvenir, walk to the Fairy Stone Pit Stop and hunt for fairy stones—each visitor is allowed to collect a few to take home.
Stone Mountain State Park
Just over the North Carolina border lies Stone Mountain State Park, home to the 600-foot national landmark that gives the area its name. Wander along hiking trails for waterfall views, fish for trout in streams, or go horseback riding on one of Stone Mountain’s many bridle trails. Electric and water hookups and a dump station make this park RV-friendly. Group and individual tent camping sites also offer showers and firewood.

Fall is the most popular time to camp near Fancy Gap, when bright colors decorate the forests and campers can relax in cool weather. In summer, temperatures average around 80°F. Campers can beat the humidity with a campground near the water for swimming, boating, and fishing. Most Virginia state parks are open year-round, so winter camping near Fancy Gap is also an option for campers seeking a quiet escape. Winter temperatures in the area average between 40–45°F.
