Learn more about this land: Fall asleep to hooting owls and the gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank your campsite. Wake up with a dip in the river or a morning hike in the woods. Feel the hug of the mountains throughout your stay, while also having access to Blacksburg nearby should you need it.  DIRECTIONS: Upon entry the gravel road is shared with my neighbor and it is about 1.5 miles from the entry gate to the site. You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. Additionally, explore Falls Ridge Nature preserve, Cascades waterfall, and Carvin’s Cove for hiking, kayaking and mountain biking.  Or just stay on the campground and enjoy the hiking and swimming we offer here.  Nearby in Blacksburg take advantage of the local breweries or Virginia Tech football home games. You can also find Christmas tree cutting in Floyd county, 45mins away.  This property deserves to be shared with others. It is peaceful and beautiful. As your Host, I am passionate about conservation and also teaching people about the medicinal uses of our local herbs. I can lead medicinal herb walks upon request for $25 a person. I typically try to meet the campers if I can upon arrival, I am available for questions and can be hands on or off as the needs of campers suggest. I have had campers ask if I wanted to share a beverage and sit around the fire and have done so. I want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I love the peacefulness the property offers, and that you’re in the middle of the wilderness but also have quick access to things in town. The river campsites are my favorite part of the property. At the main cabin I have goats and chickens which hipcampers are more than welcome to greet.  About the listing Pitch your tents at the campsite nestled along the side of the mountain on the banks of the North Fork of the Roanoke River. As you fall asleep, listen to the occasional hoot of an owl, howl of a coyote, and gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank the campsite. This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. We are located within two miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian trail via a gated, public, forest road. Hikers should park at their campsite and walk up. The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room. The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s. We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants. What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. Beautiful land very private and quiet. Place was roomy and comfy and loved the bear theme. Could see all the stars at night. We saw deer in the morning frolicking in the fall colors. They had a nice set up prepared for a small bonfire and water jugs to extinguish before bed which was a nice touch. There was a propane heater and plenty of blankets. We took a walk to the pond and located some frogs. We never made it to the shower but the area has plenty to do. We went to a cidery, drive over an 1800# covered bridge, lost caves and bridge day. Will come back some day.

The spot was even more beautiful than the pictures. Dave was helpful and great to talk to - he gave us the scoop on some plants on the property. We spent an evening cooking on the fire pit, snuggling the dog visitors, listening to the river trickle, and playing music. We were the only folks at the campground making it super private and peaceful. The bell tent was easy, spacious, and super comfy without being too fancy. As we went to sleep we heard a romantic train in the distance. Gratitude for sharing the space.

This was an introduction to camping for our six year old, and he loved it! The yurt and campsite came with everything we needed to enjoy the outdoors while having creature comforts, and the communal trailer was nice to have to check-in with family. We didn’t need anything, but the camp store was also stocked with bare essentials in the event you leave something behind. The site was very private, and Beau, Leah, and the other guests were friendly. We hope to make it back to Beaverfalls again!

The entire property looks well run, the waterfall is pretty & you can hear it from the text, It was very moist out, as expected this time of year. We paid extra for bedding & it was totally worth it to arrive with the bed made. The bedding was perfect, very comfortable. The only negative at all is the text does have mold & just needs a routine power wash, not a big deal. Would definitely recommend! The leaves have started to change at that elevation and it was gorgeous!

The bear camper had everything guests would need for a getaway in the woods such as air conditioner, space heater, extra blankets, camping area/seating and TV. With no cell reception and wifi, it was a true unplugged experience. The farm also had many types of animals - donkey, peacocks, pigs, hens, cats and goats. Guests being able to pet and feed them was really fascinating and fun! Farm fresh breakfast in their marketplace was great as well. It was a bit of a hike to the camper and was challenging to carry luggage from the designated parking. Specific parking should be provided near this camper (on the hill). Overall, a great experience away from home. We would love to come back and visit.

It was a perfect spot. You literally are sleeping on top of a waterfall. You can hear it at night with and without the windows open. perfect spot for a campfire and grilling food which has a grate. They even have a community space that has an oven and things too if you prefer to cook that way, I hung twinkle lights all over the place to give it a cute feel and also the community space they offer free coffee and they also have snacks and other items to purchase. The cave was neat to explore on the property! You can even sit at the bottom of the waterfall and have a picnic or just hang out, you can even swim in it too! At the cabin they even made a trail directly to it for those that stay in this cabin. The space was perfect at the cabin for my dog. I had him on a 20 foot lead and worked out perfect.

Your safety and comfort are important to us, so please take care when choosing your sleeping arrangements. There is one bathroom with a shower downstairs, located off the kitchen. A small washer dryer is also available. Please note, these can accommodate only small loads of laundry. You'll find bath towels and smaller towels specifically for drying off after a relaxing soak in the hot tub. We've stocked quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as well as some basic toiletries in case a guest forgets to bring an item. In the living room, the 55" TV streams Netflix, Hulu or any app on the Roku TV (you will need your own log in). The internet is provided by Starlink and is high speed! The queen bedroom also has a Roku TV, and a selection of board games, cards, and some children's activities are available below the TV. Outdoor Amenities: Take a relaxing soak in the hot tub while watching the local wildlife in the meadow. Enjoy our spacious fire pit area, complete with Adirondack chairs with a grill grate—perfect for evening s'mores or grilling under the stars. Cabin features great room with fireplace and wood stove, dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom, and two bedrooms. Downstairs you will find a bathroom, bedroom with a queen bed. Upstairs you’ll find one bedroom with a full bed and loft area with a twin bunk. It will sleep six comfortably, and linens are provided. Large back deck with gas grill and rocking chairs which overlook the meadow and it’s frequent furry and feathered visitors and mirrored pond. Bring marshmallows for the fire pit near the cabin. The cabin is at 2600 ft. elevation but still can be warmer in summer months. It cools down to the mid 60’s to low 70’s most summer nights so we don’t have AC there. We do have WiFi.
