Welcome to our small Farm, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Madison County, Virginia. Located just minutes from Shenandoah National Park, we offer intimate nature-inspired cottages and camping on our 120-acre working farm. Enjoy an evening under the stars with fireflies and a campfire after a long day hike, fly fishing on one of our beautiful trout steams or touring the local vineyards and breweries.
We currently offer one cottage, glamping and a few campsites for our guests. Our campsites are all private, located acres apart with tables, chairs, firepits, some elevated sleeping areas, some hammock spots and a few with a roof. Three of our spots require walking away from your vehicle, short distances. We have four drive-in sites that will accommodate two or three vehicles. We do not allow RVs or trailers on our main farm due to our narrow mountain driveway. Wisteria Camp has a private driveway, it can accommodate small RV/Trailers. Camper vans are welcome at the main farm!
Our farm store includes our Animal Welfare Approved products such as Eggs, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Lamb and Dairy, as well as produce, jams, coffee and other items from our local community. We offer camping essentials, local art, bike rentals, farm experiences and tours.
The property has miles of trails along mountain spring-fed streams, a small pond and access to three private acres on the Robinson River, a stocked Trout stream, just 2 miles down the road. Our property is centrally located to White Oak Canyon (20 minutes) and Old Rag Mountain (10 minutes) trailheads in the Shenandoah National Park as well as many vineyards and breweries.

Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space.
Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life.
All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky.
We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays. We also don't offer longterm rentals as we focus on short term camping.

The Farm was originally named 2nd 4o by my parents. They planned to live the 2nd forty years of their lives together on the farm. My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas trees. This did not last long :) but the saplings my dad planted by hand are still here & maybe 70' tall!
Then my husband & I bought The Farm in 2017 for the 2nd forty years of our life & my parents built their little house right here. My husband and I immediately knew that our dream was to grow a different kind of "tree", so in 2019 we were among the first group to receive our license to grow hemp. We are passionate about both the hemp and cannabis plants!
In 2020 when it finally became legal to grow cannabis, we immediately added that to our garden as well and 2nd 40 to 420 was born, or shall I say planted. We currently rent out our 2 RV's 3 Yurts & primitive sites , we also offer group bookings & Canna-friendly B&B options. We plan to add septic & electric hook-ups for RV's in the near future.

We offer a glamping cottage with a kitchenette, electricity, and air conditioning. An 11-gallon camping sink and 5 gallons of drinking water are provided. A porta-potty is available and is serviced weekly.
The tent sites and the cottage both have access to our new, natural spring outdoor shower. The spring water is from our own spring located on our property. We house it in a solar rain barrel to assist with warming it for showers. Spring water showers have excellent benefits for skin and hair.
The cottage features a full-size bed, a queen sleeper sofa, and a twin bed in the loft. Guests also have access to a private fire pit, picnic table, and charcoal grill. Two tent sites are available and include a fire pit, charcoal grill (charcoal provided) and picnic table. No electrical hookups. But potable spring water can be provided.
Pets are welcome, and Wi-Fi is available. Just bring your hiking boots, bikes, groceries, and toiletries!

An agrarian dream - a literal field of possibility. With 18 acres to choose from you may find yourself sleeping along the lazy Fifteenmile Creek, atop a hill under Virginia stars, or even set up with pastoral views of hens and Great Pyrenees dogs.
The roadfront side of our property offers level terrain for pull-behind trailers, while vehicles (preferably 4WD) and tent campers can travel all the way back to the creek. Feeling froggy? Ford the stream and camp in the large field on the other side. Be sure to mind the animals and fields, as this is a working farm.
One mile down the road from the farm is the Virginia Creeper Trail, renowned for biking, but as a multi-use trail, you can also enjoy walking, running, horseback riding, fishing, cross country skiing, and geocaching.
South Holston Lake is only minutes away by vehicle, with two public access boating ramps 10 to 20 minutes away.
Access to the Appalachian Trail is only 20 minutes away in Damascus.

We are a Nature Retreat bordering Nature Conservancy land along a tributary and up and down the Rappahannock River. You can hike along the stream down to the river and up and down the river. You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed.
You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well.
We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest.
Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. There are some great extra's here as well including an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor infrared sauna and massage chair. These spa features are another great way to get your zen on here. I offer Forest Bathing and individual retreat support sessions, an quarterly sweat lodge and also vision quest support if people would like to experience a solo nature immersion feast.

I am grateful to have a little piece of the Rock Tavern History back in the family. Great host, great converted shed, very comfortable. Faces south overlooking a pasture, i didnt spend much time outside until evenings when the fireflies were popping. Trail behind cabin you can hike, meant to be trails, I just have a bum leg so cant report on that. Beautiful location.

The sweet, little cabin was just right for two. The decor (little touches), kitchen, grilling supplies, comfortable bed and pillows, reliable internet, and a/c were enhanced by the peaceful outdoors, star gazing and the Clean, *Nice smelling potty house. We did not have time to walk the trails, but the thought was inviting. Susannah was prompt in responses, willing to help if needed, and friendly. For our in route trip, this was an ideal place to stay.

Genuinely beautiful stay between nice views and a well appointed and clean tent. All facilities were easy to find (even with our after-dark arrival) and access and were quite clean. The only downside was a slightly intrusive barn cat that kept following me around and begging at tent door.
That said, we would definitely come back to stay again and for longer! Thank you to the hosts.

I reserved this wellness retreat for my husband for our wedding anniversary/Father’s Day/baby minimoon. It was very relaxing to be out in nature with some peace and quiet away from our busy schedules. Trevor, the host was extremely kind and checked in on us vie email throughout our stay. We really enjoyed the ambience and visual vibes from the wellness cabin 1. The first floor of the unit was very comfortable with AC. Due to a very high heat index, on the first night, sleeping on the top bunk was very hot. We did have a small fan, but it did not provide a lot of relief; on the second night we ended up sleeping downstairs on an air mattress that we brought from home. It made our sleeping situation very comfortable. Also, it allowed me to not have to go up and down an unstable narrow ladder to get to the top of the loft while pregnant, which was a bit scary. All in all, we enjoyed the pizza oven as well as a wonderful cold plunge to cool down from the heat. Since it already felt like a sauna outside, we decided to skip the sauna. I would highly recommend this wellness retreat in cabin 1. Looking forward to exploring the other cabins on Trevor‘s property!

Very cute yurts-ours had AC and a pedestal fan, as well as a spigot outside. The site is all hill, with stairs and uneven terrain, so you do need to have steady gait here. The bathhouse is close, with toilets, sinks, showers, lights and a strong sulfur smell - but remember that sulfur is great for your skin and hair!
Easily slept 4 of us-could've fit more if kids are tiny.

Enjoyed our stay. We were looking for somewhere close to Natural Bridge and Devils Marble Yard. Can’t really beat the exact middle. Facilities were clean as expected. Cabin was as described. Recommended to our friends already.

Weekend Trip to Indian Camp Lane
The tiny cottage by the wood line on the back of this huge property is private, quiet and delivered an enjoyable rustic feel for us. Billy (the dog) literally guided our car all the way back to the rental. The host was amazing and responds promptly to any questions or concerns. The large fire pit was a great place for roasting hotdogs and s'mores. 10/10 would enjoy a return visit for a quiet, secluded rest.

I loved this place. It was super clean and her decor is so cute. My boyfriend and I were making our way back to NC from WV and needed a place to get out of the rain for the night and it was such a treat to get to stay here. Sneaky Cabin was exactly what we were after for a quick birthday meetup between two families with kids from Elementary school to High School. We floated the nearby James both days, did some trail running on the Outer Space trail on the property, mountain biking. I will say we also really enjoyed the creek, Gaga ball, snd tether ball. Staff and other guest were friendly. 100% of us returning…!

Terrific little spot, these ease of the bell tent on the platform for one night quick trips was perfect. Small amenities like battery powered fans and a charging dock were a nice touch and the bed was super comfortable .The water was nice and cold, not too deep, enough to lay in to cool off. I caught 3 species of fish which was a nice surprise. The shade and night sounds were just what we needed. Would highly recommend
