There is kayak rental available in both Smithville and Bastrop, where you can kayak down the Colorado River. Smithville has some unique, local restaurants or you can grill at your campsite on the gas grill provided.

The property has grasslands on a slight hill just enough to give an amazing view of the surrounding landscape. We are currently building our property up living off of the grid in our 5th wheel. We will be building a 5 acre fruit and vegetable farm with plenty of activities to do. If you like bees, or would like to learn a little about them, we have our own hives here where we are currently raising about 40,000 of them. Questions about growing, we can see if we can answer them. The property is easy access right off the hwy and only a few miles to town where activities range from hiking, swimming, golfing, history exploring, kayaking and many more activities. Our primitive camping sites are set among our majestic oak trees. We provide a primitive dirt camp pad and fire ring. There is one picnic table that seats 8. We have no restroom facilities, no electricity, no running water. We hope to add more amenities as time goes on. We have big plans to in large the pond as we are able. When you stay with us at Hill Country Refuge, we hope you are blessed by the property, and confirm that the name holds true.
