The sunsets are stunning and there was plenty of space for our dog run. It's private, away from the residences on the property. Aislynn was very accommodating and helpful! Fun to walk around the farm, and the common use building (screened kitchen, dining, living room) was very nice!

John is a great host! Communicative. The listing is very accurate. The pull-in and set up was a breeze. The place is beautiful! Quiet for being amongst neighbors. The canal dock was where we spent most of our time. Caught red fish, drum, and a few crabs with a crab trap. Would love to come back again!

The camping site is great and quite private (if you like your privacy). Bob, the owner, was quite respectful, knowledgeable, humble, quick to respond, and he even gave us a 15 gallon water when we ran out of water. He checked on us occasionally to make sure we were ok and that we had a good time. Great place to stay and go away from the city, reset, watch the starry skies, and be with nature.
At night my wife and I heard some coyotes and wild boars but none camp near our campsite but it does give you some thrill. We saw rabbits, turkeys, possums, squirrels, etc. Thankfully, we never saw any snakes even though we hiked around the property everyday and the creek. The river was nice and peaceful as well, great for fishing.

John’s place was a wonderful getaway. We had a fantastic stay on the canal. The property is gated and our dog really enjoyed the space to run around. Fishing from the deck was a highlight, and the kayaks provided a great way to explore the water. The space was clean and comfortable, with beautiful views. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and can't wait to return!

We had an excellent camping experience at Wooded Ways. Bob is very kind host, who is obviously knowledgeable and passionate about spending time outdoors.
The old, one-eyed horse was equally amenable. He stopped by for a bit after breakfast for some apples and good pats. My friend said that was the height of the weekend for him.
The property is still a work in progress (according to Bob), but the developed areas, where we stayed and the survival camp area, were very well laid out and taken care of. Excellent for “easy mode” primitive tent camping.
There some slight highway noise in the distance that’s barely noticeable in the quiet of the night, but light pollution is relatively low. All in all, the property makes for a great escape from civilization for a relatively short drive (from SA/Austin area).
We will definitely be returning in the future and even look forward to trying out a more rustic spot on the property.

Overall this was a great place to camp out. The sunrise and sunsets are beautiful. Having full hook ups for our popup camper was nice too.
It was very peaceful, plus you’re super close to the water. The only thing that this spot is missing is a dedicated fishing pier. Fish is not bad from the pad. We managed one catch, but a fishing pier would be an absolute game changer! Overall I would definitely recommend this spot! Thank you letting me and my family enjoy your property sir!

We had a great time at Titus’ waterfront lot! The setting is great (right on Copano Bay) and the utilities are all in place for a super simple and relaxing time. The check in instructions were very clear and Titus was a great communicator. I would recommend booking this private waterfront lot and we would certainly consider coming back.

This was an amazing place - secluded, peaceful, and beautiful. I fed the turtles and fish in the creek a few yards away. Skull Tree was magical. I had to leave early for a personal emergency, but I'll definitely return. Hope you get to enjoy it!

We had a great time! Lots of space at Coyote Corner for a large group and Skull Tree is a pretty cool more intimate spot with a lot of shade. There was a nice peaceful spot to sit overlooking the creek. Outhouse was solid and had a solid toilet to sit on, very clean. It was nice seeing the cows up close and our dogs had a blast out there. Alana was a five star host and went above and beyond to take care of our needs. We look forward to booking there again soon.

We were pleased with our weekend stay. The neighbors are close but not a bother to us, in fact we only had seen them out on one occasion. We loved the convenience of having everything close by to us. The owner was available to answer some quick questions we had and that’s always a plus in our book! All hookups work well. We will stay here again in the future. I give this little spot a 4 out of 5 stars!

Was a great experience at the skull tree. Loved how many butterflies were around and the creek was nearby. Such a secluded site which id exactly what I wanted. The outhouse was also very convenient. Only issue I had was some noisy neighbors at the coyote corner that were playing loud music until 2ish in the morning.

About
Enjoy the singular experience of camping on historic grounds at Goliad State Park, the site of Mission Espíritu Santo, a Spanish mission, and Presidio La Bahia, a fort used to protect the mission that played a role in the Texas Revolution. Park rangers lead historic talks and guided hikes at Goliad, which also offers spacious, pet-friendly camping. Hipcampers will enjoy fishing, a hiking and biking trail, and launching kayaks and canoes to paddle the six miles of Goliad Paddling Trail on the San Antonio River. Nearby is the birthplace of General Ignacio Zaragoza, the Mexican general who led the charge against French troops on what is now celebrated as Cinco de Mayo. Goliad State Park is located two hours southeast of San Antonio and within an hour’s drive of the Texas Gulf Coast.
Notable campgrounds
- Best overall camp experience: The water-only Longhorn Tent Camping Area is near restroom facilities and offers plenty of shade near the river.
- Best for hikers: The water-only sites of the Vaquero Tent Camping Area are nicely shaded and close to the San Antonio River Trail.
- Best for RVers: The Karankawa Camping Area offers RV camping with full electrical hookups, as well as five screened shelters near the playground.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- Campsite reservations can be made up to five months in advance on the Texas State Parks reservation website.
- Jacales offers the most spaces, and those sites tend to be more frequently available, but if you’re looking for a shaded campsite, you may wish to hold out for a more scenic spot along the river in Longhorn or Vaquero.
When to go
The park’s busiest season is December through March. The summer months in south Texas can be very hot and humid. Consider visiting during shoulder seasons of October and November or April and May.
Know before you go
- Rising levels of the San Antonio River occasionally mean closures of that portion of the campground. Check for notices before you arrive.
- Visitors enjoy fishing for sunfish, bass, and catfish on the San Antonio River. No fishing license is required. You may borrow gear from the camp headquarters.
- Canoes and kayaks cannot be rented here, so bring your own.
- During rainy months, mosquitoes can be pesky along the river, so bring insect repellent.
- Pets are allowed at this campground

I recently spent a weekend at Goliad State Park, tent camping in the Longhorn section. The stars are magnificent and worth the trip on their own. I spotted a bat, an owl, a hawk, and lots of other birds. The bathrooms were clean, and there are showers in the park. Park staff patrol regularly, and I enjoyed my encounters with the hosts. Site 8 is large, but there isn’t a lot of flat ground. Shared water supply is available between sites 9 & 10. A trail entrance falls between sites 8 & 9, so be prepared for light foot traffic. You should also be prepared for constant highway noise, as state highway 183 is nearby. Worth the trip, especially if you enjoy TX history, due to historic sites in the park. Minutes from town for supply runs.

There's not a whole lot to do in the park it can be walked through in a day but the town has a brewery that was really neat and kids are welcome! Also you will have to check their website they do paddling trips on the San Antonio river that runs through the park I believe twice a year.

At Jacales loop, all sights are pull through and have full hookups with sewer. The other loop is way back in the woods at a sort of parking lot without sewer hookups and backup sites. The museum and especially the interpretive trail past the museum are awesome
