Robin’s Nest is a real treehouse—built atop 7 oaks with no tape measure, no level, and no blueprints—just imagination, old wood, and 150-year-old treasures tucked into every corner. This isn’t polished, modern luxury. It’s barefoot luxury. A dreamy, playful escape with simple comforts: a swinging queen daybed, open-air master bath in the tree with you, fire pit, cowboy hot tub, and a rope cargo net for lounging in the forest. There are trails to wander, frogs to sing you to sleep, and stars above.
Push open the double doors. Slide the futon against the handrail under the roof cover. Turn off the lights and leave only the fairy lights glowing. Across the pond, a spotlight shines on a little feeder, and if you’ve been quiet, you’ll see deer, raccoons, and other critters play in the dark—like a living storybook, better than TV. This land is a working wildlife sanctuary, cared for with 50 years of hands-on learning. Please don’t bring poisons—they hurt the good critters too. The yellow-and-black mud daubers? Harmless to humans, deadly to harmful spiders. The big harmless, banana spiders keep flies and mosquitos away. It's nature in balance.
If the pond’s low, bring a float or take our kayaks ten minutes away to a secret bend in the San Marcos River. We’ll share the pin.
Your close to town but, fully immersed in nature, so it's not ideal for small kids to wander alone. Ladders, beds, and trails aren’t built to code. Adults should be fit and wear sturdy shoes if going far from camp.

Or perhaps you prefer to fish the shady tree-lined banks. Either way, you'll see a variety of birds while you relax on or beside the cool waters of the Colorado River.
We're kid and dog friendly (leashes mandatory) and we love musicians. Bring an instrument and join us for an impromptu jam session in our special events room or around the campfire. Cook dinner on our BBQ pit. Firewood is available onsite
A few rules...
1. Check in is before sunset. We ask that all Hipcampers wait at gate for staff to guide you to your location for safety reasons. Contact us if you arrive ahead of schedule.
2. No wondering by the upper level cabins (these are private property). Showers are behind these cabins. Please respect staff spaces.
3. If you have an extra vehicle, please park it with your other vehicle.
4. If you have a 3rd extra vehicle, let us know and we will direct you where to park it.
5. Please be courteous of other campers space and road access.
6. All kids are free. If your kids are 17 and under do not add them or it will charge.
7. If you have an impairment please let us know before booking so that we can ensure a space is ready and suitable for you.
8. All dogs must be on leash. Please clean up your dogs Poop.

this place was super cute! Very very close to the river. It was super windy and I’m not a very good fisher so we had no luck with that. Also the porta potty was pretty nasty but luckily I had a pop up toilet.

VIP one was an excellent site with close proximity to the water. I spent most of my time fishing. The river has lots of weed so plan for that if that’s what you’ll be interested in. It would be nice to have some sort of quiet hours enforced. There was a family reunion going on at one of the other sites and they and we’re playing music until 2 AM. I suggest bringing a portable toilet as the Port A John’s were not useable. Staff was always very friendly and even offered free firewood, but we had enough. There was plenty of shade throughout this site. It fit an Overland vehicle tent and a six person dome tent comfortably with plenty of room for more. The dogs had plenty of room to walk around, sniff, and relax and shade.

We loved tent camping on Chris’ land! The amenities were excellent (electric, water, shade) and they had recently installed a nearby toilet and shower with hot water. Water access and hiking access made for great afternoon activities. Our dogs had a great time too. Thank you Hill Country Escape!

Our stay at The Robin’s Nest was the perfect weekend getaway from the city. This unique home will truly have you sleeping in the trees. Everything you need is there, from coffee to firewood to a canoe for the pond! Shellie was friendly and helpful and quick to answer any questions I had. This is a special place. Surrounded by hill country nature. On a lovely lil creek . Listen to the Grape Creek critters where the coyotes sing you to sleep ! This is a perfect for a kicked back getaway. It's a working ranch so you'll hear Bossy cow and the gang casually chatting. As they're chewing the cud. Equipped with a comfortable seating area . An outdoor shower , water and electric. Catch and release fishing. Tons of birds and a gaggle of turkeys across the way. A friendly host with a welcoming smile . A grill , fire ring , tons of shade and couple of turtles for neighbors. We were at site 1 . I would advise a canoe or kayak for fishing as the water lillies are thick . Our stay was completely enjoyable and we look forward to the next visit !

My wife and I and our 2 dogs enjoyed the treehouse very much. Secluded, but also close to stores and restaurants. Dogs loved swimming in the pond. The outdoor shower at night is cool.
Host is responsive and makes good suggestions!

Geronimo was a great host, campsite was clean and had bathrooms. Right up against the river and he let our dogs come out and they had a blast another plus is he gave us firewood to start out and the best dollar general I’ve been in is about an 8 min drive from the campsite. We will be back in a few months. Campsite #1 is closest to the river access point where #10 is the furthest but being the farthest from most people.

The place was so beautiful, it looked like something had knocked the fire pit in recently but we built it back up and had the best time! We spoke to the younger gentleman who was outside working most of the time and he was so polite ! Everyone on the ranch was very friendly and hospitable. All they wanted was for us to have a fun time ! The best place I’ve been camping in a while we will be back with our dogs!

My partner and I scheduled this stay on short-notice to get away before I started my new job. The weekend felt so relaxing, private, romantic, and adventurous. We stayed in August, so while it was a bit hot in the middle of the day, the AC in the cabin, outdoor shower, and bathtub provided lots of ways to cool down. The host was very responsive and helpful during our stay.

This property and the owner are absolutely beautiful. Very responsive and everything you could ask for in a quick weekend trip. This is off the beaten path so be careful! We did encounter a Copperhead as well as some other friends of the forest. Nature was beautiful, extremely relaxing- HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
