Weekend Trip to Boulderdash Cabin & Camping

Our stay at Tent Site #2 at Boulderdash Cabin & RV Park was absolutely wonderful! Carol-anne and Lyn were amazing hosts—friendly, responsive, and super thoughtful. They provided helpful tips before our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed for a great experience. The site was peaceful and well-kept, surrounded by nature and just steps from the Medina River. Even though it was a short hike to the bathrooms, we were well-prepared thanks to their clear heads-up and suggestion to bring a tent potty—especially useful since we were camping with our child. We appreciated the attention to detail, from the check-in process to on-site items like firewood and ice. The no-visitor and quiet policies helped make the space feel safe and relaxing for families. We made some great memories here and would definitely come back again. Highly recommend for anyone looking to disconnect, relax, and enjoy the outdoors!

We absolutely loved our stay! We spent the weekend kid free celebrating our 13 year anniversary & couldn’t help but talk about how much the kids would have loved it! We loved camping out at Boulderdash! The campsites were clean and well maintained. There are amenities like freshwater, WiFi, and electricity available if you’d like, but it doesn’t feel like glamping. If you forget anything, Carol-Anne and Lyn have it handy. The riverside sites are a short walk to wading in the Medina river. The kids and dogs had a blast. Campers who come here should abide by the camp’s simple rule; don’t be a jerk. We’re looking forward to coming back as soon as possible!

Beautiful property! The host was wonderful and very responsive to messages. The campsite was nice and secluded. We had privacy for most of the time we were in camp. The 4 wheel drive trails were exactly what we were looking for. Perfect for someone new to off-roading. Just technical enough, but nothing extreme. We would definitely go back! Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Lost Woods

We stayed at Site 1 for two nights. Mr. James was very kind and helped us rearrange our reservation when we realized that Site 13 was too far from the parking area—it would have been difficult to carry our XL tent. Site 1 felt private and gave us a great connection with nature. While there was some noise from Loop 1604, it wasn’t enough to be bothersome. It hardly felt like we were in the San Antonio metropolitan area. We definitely recommend this place and plan to come back someday to stay at Site 3.

I would definitely consider myself an avid outdoorsman/camper, and let me tell you that I am glad that I found this spot. This location has everything you need, restrooms, community sink, and amazing access to the river. The campgrounds are very clean, and the RV sites are perfect. Carol Ann and Lyn put their passion for camping and traveling into their property. And it shows. These people made us feel like we were family, and honestly just want you to have a great experience while you’re at Boulderdash. If I could give this place 10 stars I gladly would. Thank you all very much me and my family, Hope to see you all soon again!

Pretty nice place close to stores so if its your first time camping this would be a great place. Goats were interesting to see and overall trails were nice. Campsite 3 was perfect to drive into without any issues.

Great spot for our camping needs! Able to back right in to the spot and view the campfire from my truck bed tent. A little pricey for basically no amenities but overall a great site for or needs. You can hear the traffic nonstop but what do you expect from a campsite so close to the city. We will definitely return in the future.

WOW! These vibes are incredible. Blew me out of the water especially for the price of a tent site with yoga studio/game room, 4 private bathrooms, 2 small pools and a sauna, not to mention the full kitchen with free oatmeal and pancakes (cook your own). Also loved the hammock grove that we camped near with plenty of shade from the sun on the left side of the road. She was very friendly and had amazing attention to detail. I’m impressed and will definitely be back to try the A-line cabins. The view was also outstanding.

We live on 2.5 acres, and the area you will be placed is very private with full hook-ups. We take bookings for up to 13 days. From June to September we also offer month to month. We are retired from Hospice services and teaching alternative health, aquatic therapies. We presently make custom shoes, boots, and moccasins . Fernweh means "a longing for distant places, a yearning for travel." My place in the Hill Country welcomes and satisfies that yearning for getting away and losing oneself in nature. The sunrises are spectacular and watching the deer, birds, rabbits, and other fauna is fun. It's a beautiful place for relaxing and star gazing at night. There are no bathrooms. You must bring camping toilets and take out your trash. If there isn't a burn ban, you may use the fire pits we provide. The grounds are perfect for tent camping. Our property is right off Hwy 16 eight miles to downtown Kerrville and the Guadalupe River, 34 miles to Fredericksburg, 15 miles to Medina, and 29 miles to Bandera, TX. During May 26 to June 12, you are one tenth of a mile from the Kerrville Folklife Festival. Consider this a stopping and resting point between your adventures in the Hill Country! Only tents are allowed. No pets and only adults, please. Mostly flat terrain. Dry ground January-March and pretty lush during April-June.
