Hike, Bike, Birding Trails to Explore. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 45 Primitive Self-Contained Campsites for Vans, RVs, Campers, Tents: *Maximum 6 people per campsite *Must be 25 years of age to Reserve *Bring Quiet Gas Generators or Solar Generators for Power *Bring All Water, Food, Drinks and Chairs; 2 water faucets available on ranch for refilling jugs (not drinkable unless boiled) *Bring Portable Toilets; Or Tell Us You Want to Rent a Compost Toilet - $25 each *No Campfires or Fireworks (Fire Hazard) *Propane Grills/Griddles Allowed (Use Caution) *No Illegal Drugs on Property, No Underage Drinking! *Take Trash to Dumpster When Departing (near Nature Center/Office) *Each Campsite Allowed 2 non-barking, non-aggressive dogs, must always be on leash. Indian Blanket Ranch - Utopia Texas
Leann's land is in a remote, beautiful part of Hill Country --we were the only people camping on the property so it was extra quiet and peaceful. My 9 year old roamed the property with his trusty map and felt like a true explorer. The campground is close to Garner State Park and about a half hour from Lost Maples.

Indian Blanket Ranch - Utopia Texas
This ranch is in an absolutely beautiful location. We visited over the Halloween weekend with the native fall grasses in full beauty. At night we sat, had some wine, looked at the stars, counted satellites as they passed over and listened to the coyotes off in the distance. This is a great location to slow down and just get away.

Hideaway Cabin
The hideaway cabin is as absolutely stunning! We had a wonderful weekend enjoying the nature trials, floating the river and the kids loved the tadpoles in the spillway right there in the driveway! LeAnn was great giving us all the information we needed and much more!

Hideaway Cabin
We enjoyed our stay at Hideaway Cabin. It was a quiet and charming location. The fenced in yard was a bonus that our pups got to enjoy. We will definitely be booking this location again.

Hideaway Cabin
We enjoyed the peacefulness of this quaint cabin with its unique features. The fenced yard was wonderful for our dog. The private hot tub was fantastic! Be sure to bring paper towels, toilet paper, coffee, condiments, bug spray, dish soup and other essentials. We explored the trails a bit, but the tall grass caused concern for our dog and potential snakes. It’s a great location away from the craziness of the river. Enjoyed Lost Maples Cafe in Utopia, Gypsies in Leakey. Hippie Chics in Concan was our favorite! Garner State Park is beautiful and popular so get a reservation way ahead of time. Looking forward to coming back to this gem in the future. Thank you to the owners.

Hideaway Cabin
This is an amazing find and a great weekend getaway! It was my favorite HipCamp find so far. The cabin is very secluded and quiet. The nature trails are beautiful and very well maintained. Leann was very responsive to messages and a great host. There is a gate around the cabin to keep your fur babies close. We had clear skies and enjoyed star gazing in the hot tub. I can’t wait to return!

Perfect Cozy Cabin!
Hideaway Cabin
This was such a wonderful cabin with lots of room! It was quiet and dark for star gazing. Close to Garner and Lost Maples if you have a day pass. Utopia is only 10 minutes away if you need groceries or necessities. The General Store has a deli for sandwiches and fresh cut steaks if you want to use the grill at the cabin. The cabin kitchen had almost everything needed to cook any meal. The trails on the property were really nice and easy to hike. We were able to see more wild life there than the two state parks we went to and was great for bird watching. Highly recommend this cabin for couples get away or small family vacations! We will definitely be coming back for our yearly trip to Garner.

Indian Blanket Ranch - Utopia Texas
Indian Blanket was a great location for the April 2024 Eclipse! Leann and team we very friendly and easy to work with. Directions were very straightforward and the site was well cleared with establish "roads" and campsites. The location is very spread out with lots of options for campsites without nearby neighbors. For this larger, special event, Leann went above and beyond to make sure we had a fun, memorable trip. The "gathering place" was so much fun for storytelling, live music, and of course great views for the eclipse. They even provided portapotties and a temporary water supply to be extra accommodating, but I'm not sure that's going to be standard going forward. There's a couple short established hiking trails to the north, and possibly a future jeeping road, but they mentioned they're working hard to extend the trail options and make exploration a big draw to this area. Primitive camping as advertised, so bring lots of water, and plan to pack out your trash. Thank you Leann and team! We had a blast (even if we had cloudy weather ;-D)!

I had a great time at Indian Blanket Ranch. Nice facility with a good set up. Able to easily find a quiet camping spot even during a busy time with the eclipse. Staff was OUTSTANDINGLY friendly and helpful. Did the hike up to Lookout Point. Beautiful views and was worth the effort. Nature was out and about during my stay. The presentation for the eclipse was incredibly informative and helped prepare me for a couple of amazing shots of the eclipse even with the clouds that tried to interrupt. Availability of wi-fi at the office was GREATLY appreciated since cell service for me (Verizon) was not available. Actually was nice to disconnect from the phone for a while!

My wife and I had the great pleasure of staying on Leanne‘s property Indian Blanket Ranch for the eclipse. The ranch was gorgeous and had lots of great sites for RVs and tents. We had a tent site on the far side of the ranch that had magnificent views and a great big oak tree for shade. Most of the sites had bird boxes for nesting bluebirds. Leanne had the weekend well organized with nature walks and birding with Lee Haile, who also told stories and played music in the evenings. He was very knowledgeable, a lot of fun and a wonderful entertainer. There was a very informative lecture on solar eclipses by Eclipse Michael and the eclipse itself was spectacular. Leanne was a great host and took care of everyone’s needs. We had a wonderful stay and hope to come back again.

I went to Indian Blanket Ranch for the April 2024 solar eclipse and was very pleased with the property. The views were spectacular, the property was well maintained, there was plenty of space between campsites, and the Nature center was nice also. The skies were dark at night so the stars were very prominent. The flowers, birds and wildlife were wonderful. Highly recommended if you are looking for a laidback destination away from the crowds but only 5 miles from the Frio River.

What a beautiful ranch. The host could not have been any nicer, two very amazing people!!! Lots of bird watching. The solar eclipse was spectacular, something I will never forget. The area around Indian Blanket is charming. The town of Leaky was great! I stopped in the mercantile to pick up some supplies, absolutely had a blast. If you are looking for an out of the way place, give this property a try, you won't be disappointed. Just don't camp next to the windmill, it's a little squeaky when the wind blows.

Leanne is very responsive, the land is incredible, the Nature Conservation building has so much information, we were camping there for the Solar Eclipse and indeed experienced Totality- on April , 2024- just wish we could have had more time to experience this texas hill country. It was a great place for a family camping gathering and the stars at night are incredible. Leanne and her fellow partners are safeguarding this land so that it will remain a nature conservancy. Be aware that your travel gear must be self contained, bring plenty of water, but if you forget something the town of Utopia is only 10 min. away

Our group stayed here 3 nights. This is a lovely well kept property. The owners are welcoming and friendly. There were so many different kinds of birds, it truly is bird watchers paradise. Lots of places to roam and trails to hike. camping area felt very private, it was quiet and peaceful. We stayed here to experience the Eclipse. Once we got our rigs leveled and camp set up we didn't have spare vehicles to explore the area so can't say much about area outside the ranch, other than it was a lovely drive in, lots of wildflowers all along the road. I would stay here again if I ever came back to this part of Texas.

The property provides many private and semi private sites under large oaks and open areas accessed by a winding looped road. The eclipse activities were a bonus leading up to the big show. I’m glad we chose to view the eclipse with others in the gathering area and share the experience. The nature trails were great and kept us active. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending the ranch to others!

We visited for the 2024 Total Eclipse. There were many campers, but we we able to camp away from others and enjoy as much camaraderie and privacy as we wanted. Many birds sang for us from the beautiful Live Oak trees surrounding our spot, which was simply an undeveloped pullout on the edge of the pasture.

Beautiful spot with flat camping areas and nice shade oaks. Little noise from road. Nice local walks, very friendly staff. Easy drive to Utopia and swimming spots on the river. The eclipse was the highlight for us, but the BAT CAVE experience was worth the trip from Colorado!!

Wonderful place to camp! There are a couple of hoses and some nice compostable toilets at the nature center. We came for the eclipse and so enjoyed our time on this quiet piece of land.

Loved that we had access to the Guest Nature Center, loaded with natural history books, artifacts and found objects. Leann and Anthony were amazing and enthusiastic. The place is sparkling clean and the birdlife is exquisite. Close drive to the village, charming.
