Everfree Shire Ranch is an 11 Acre Estate and a magical oasis for travelers, wanderers, and the displaced who are seeking an economic alternative to regular campgrounds and parks. There are 5 acres of available housing options and campgrounds with a fantasy theme! The 6 acres in the back are grazing fields for horses. Perfect for star gazers / practicing camping! Groceries a few miles out. The central building has indoor lodging available and the side bathroom with indoor toilet / washer / dryer may be used by campers as well. There is an outdoor shower with heated water but please be mindful that swimwear is required because we have not finished filling in the slots between the wood fence panels.
The RV Dump station is also ready for use as well as the new outhouse! If you forgot to dump on the way out or need to before arriving, please use the free dump stations on I-35 near Natalia on either side of the highway.
As of 2026 my day job hours have changed. I no longer get out of work at 3, now it is 6 PM. If you are arriving same-day you should probably message me first to make certain your site is ready otherwise you might be rolling the dice a bit.

Gimli the Dwarf is your site's mascot. He guards the gate and keeps the horses and the guests safe from any roving Orcs.

This site is scheduled for an upgrade to commercial grade power outlets. Until then, you may bring solar or a generator. Generators must be placed on top of paver stones. They are not allowed on the open ground or grass.
There is a water spigot on your site. There is a bathroom / laundry combo that is shared with house residents which you may use. If you bring your own shower or outhouse tent / solution, that's fine. 15 Amp only please! High amp adapters can trip the breaker so they're not allowed.
Firepit / grill availability may vary.

They must be on paver stones. * All campers must provide their own ABC rated fire extinguishers * No branch debris allowed on site that is not actively being used for firewood * I must reiterate, do NOT cut down branches from trees! Only use fallen wood. * No debris within 10 feet of the fencelines * All propane tanks, empty or full, must be secured or inside * Do not leave gas cans or aerosol cans lying around anywhere * Holiday lights that are not solar powered can only be up for a maximum of 90 days, even if unplugged. * No items may be placed BESIDE or BEHIND the dumpster. This site is 3 spaces past the torch post on the house-side of the "Shire" field in the South-East. The water spout facing towards your site is your water hookup.
There is a bathroom / laundry combo that is shared with house residents which you may use. If you bring your own shower or outhouse tent / solution, that's fine. But please, only use the water spout in the field pointing toward your site.

Tall / long RV's MUST enter going North to South (coming from Hondo's direction) and hang a LEFT 45 degrees cutting ACROSS the driveway directly into your site. The max length is 50 FT on the pad. Manufacturers frequently use the interior or "box" length for model numbers, which does not include the hitch, bumper, or other accessories. If you have a fifth wheel you must be aware of the REAL length of the outside which could be as much as 6 feet longer, not even including your truck.
Firepit / grill availability may vary.
The new shower stall is working and has 6 gallons of hot water, but complete privacy is not there yet so please use swimwear attire at a minimum. The bathroom / laundry area on the side of the house is shared with the house guests, but available for use.

IMPORTANT: Please check the map and all photos. Take note of this site's proximity to the highway. In colder weather especially there is an expectation of noise. Traffic does get quieter at night.
Tall / long RV's MUST enter going North to South (coming from Hondo's direction) and hang a LEFT 45 degrees cutting ACROSS the driveway directly into your site. The max length is 50 FT on the pad. Manufacturers frequently use the interior or "box" length for model numbers, which does not include the hitch, bumper, or other accessories. If you have a fifth wheel you must be aware of the REAL length of the outside which could be as much as 6 feet longer, not even including your truck.
The water spigot is at the center of the paved path at the end. Please do NOT run over it!
Firepit / grill availability may vary.
The new shower stall is working and has 6 gallons of hot water, but complete privacy is not there yet so please use swimwear attire at a minimum. The bathroom / laundry area on the side of the house is shared with the house guests, but available for use.
Pets must be on a leash / penned for safety.
Trash must be bagged in 13 gallon bags or larger. Bags available upon request. If you'd like a bin at your site, just ask.
Interaction with the horses is allowed, but at your own risk. They are usually well behaved, especially if you bring food.
If something happened to your hose or plug you may borrow 1 with advanced notice.
The following rules are as per the Fire Marshall / Emergency Management Coordinator / Deputy EMC's orders
* Campers may only plug into commercial grade outlets. Currently the only sites that qualify are 11, 12, and 14 (30 amp) * If you bring a solar array, that is allowed! * Generators and fire pits cannot operate on the ground. They must be on paver stones. * All campers must provide their own ABC rated fire extinguishers * No branch debris allowed on site that is not actively being used for firewood * I must reiterate, do NOT cut down branches from trees! Only use fallen wood. * No debris within 10 feet of the fencelines * All propane tanks, empty or full, must be secured or inside * Do not leave gas cans or aerosol cans lying around anywhere * Holiday lights that are not solar powered can only be up for a maximum of 90 days, even if unplugged. * No items may be placed BESIDE or BEHIND the dumpster. The public dump is open Saturdays. Please make arrangements to use it if you are overburdened by your debris. Use the loose trash bins as a temporary solution! * All RV sewer or gray water tanks MUST be CLOSED and CAPPED, not left open! * The dump station MUST be capped when you are finished using it

Aragorn, known to some as "Strider" or just "the King" is your site's mascot. Use him to align the center of your site.
IMPORTANT: Please check the map and all photos. If you have a camper that needs to be towed you MUST own a tow capable vehicle. Renting to drop off a trailer not allowed. Site is NOT lit so arriving at night is not recommended.
If you have a long RV, please only reserve this site if you are an experienced RV driver.

This site is one of two 30 Amp spots available. It is very spacious and ideal for long term stays. It is farther from the road than site 12, but you may still hear noise from the Air Intake next to the house. This site also borders 3 other RV sites all with water spouts so use extreme caution when parking in the site.

This was a really cool little spot out in the middle of Texas ranch country. I wish I had more time to explore the property but I was just passing through. Definitely worth checking out and the price was fantastic as well. Will certainly stay again next time I’m in the area.

Let me preface this with I booked this same day so I was aware based on the listing that I’d be taking a chance with the site not being ready.
For the review: Michael was very nice, helpful and greeted me when I arrived.
First issue -He indicated that the person who mows wasn’t able to get there and there were some issues with this person. Micheal made sure the electrical plug was accessible.
The lawn was overgrown everywhere, the outside amenities weren’t really accessible because of the long grass. I travel with my dog and it was concerning walking him in the tall grass due to concerns with ticks, snakes, and little burs/nettles (whatever they are called).
Second- the inside bathroom/laundry room wasn’t very clean, but I was grateful it was available.
Third- the flies were really bad, I couldn’t sit outside. Maybe it’s because of the long grass and the animals near by but it was definitely a hindrance.
The long term camping residents seemed nice and friendly and there were multiple sites occupied by them.
Overall this place has potential, I’m not sure if things have just gotten busy for Michael but the property was pretty run down and was in need of some maintenance. It was fine for the quick overnight stop that I needed with a function 30amp plug.

I just love this place. Water, electric, an awesome outdoor shower. Great countryside setting but close to shopping and dining. The birds are amazing. There’s some highway noise but that’s what your earbuds are for. Michael is the best. Whatever you need just ask and he’ll do his best for you.

A Good Place for a Good Price
I enjoyed my week stay here. Michael, the host and the other guests are very nice. This place has washer and dryer, private outdoor shower with hot water, bathroom and porta potty. Some of the spots have water and electricity and some spots are dry camping. Overall this is an good place to stay and it is affordable.

Site 15: Merry's Meadow Camping Site water wifi bathroom
This campground is so well set up, it's really easy to find your spot, especially with each one having a LOTR character assigned to it, a lit number sign, and lights separating the campsites.
You have ample space in the spot itself, with your own water spigot. Thoughtful to have multiple bathroom options and even the porta-potty was intentional with an automatic light and hands free sink. It's right off a main road but also in the country at the same time, very minimal traffic noises and I was near the entrance. Definitely would stay here again!
This is the best spot in Texas

Waking up to horses every morning was the best. Michael is a very cool and helpful host. The free amenities and the stars...what else do you need? Stay with Michael, you'll be glad you did.

Micheal is incredibly cool and his property is just perfect. Waking up to horses and not being bothered the entire week was priceless. Michael is incredibly responsive and accommodating and I will absolutely come back. I camped primitively but accomodations such as shower, toilet and free laundry are available 24/7. Firewood and essentials are available, just ask. Everfree Shire is in my opinion perfect. Give it a try!! You can't find better at Mike's rates

Enjoyed camping was quiet and laundry and bathroom are nice and outdoor shower with bamboo plants is nice .
We enjoyed the RV hookups and using the laundry, at a great price!
This is a large area, with 22 spots (mix of camping & hookups) however it is just off the highway, so deeper on the property is better.

The host is very nice and helpful, the place was not what I expected, the grass had lots of thorns, and lots of biting flies around. The sites is just the front yard of home, divided by lights, no picnic tables on sites.

Site 22: Smaug's Escape Tent or Low Vehicles Campsite water wifi
I loved camping on Michael's land, and would return! When we got here, our site was flooded so he allowed us to use another site temporarily while he had mulch and a drain put in so the site could be used even wet. Then, we quickly realized we had no shade and this site wouldn't work, so he let us switch to yet another site that wasn't booked to make our stay much better!! Mike is very accomodating and all around fantastic host! We moved to site 22, Smaugs site right next to the horses, which was definitely a highlight! Mike also provided DE for the ants in the site, and always asking everyone if they needed anything from town. Everyone there is so warm, friendly and welcoming. Truly great people here! The road noise is obnoxious but the host has no control over it, and most nights it's very quiet. The stargazing is OUT of this world, and the nearby small towns are full of kind people. We truly enjoyed our stay of 6 weeks at the shire, even got a chance to watch all extended edition LOTR movies and made memories with my kids. 10/10 would highly recommend this hidden gem!

Site 22: Smaug's Escape Tent or Low Vehicles Campsite water wifi
Pros: I stayed with Smaug for 2 weeks and it was perfect. I loved being next to the horses. I got to see the total lunar eclipse because of all the OPEN skies here. The location is perfect if you want to spend time in San Antonio and the surrounding area. There is so much history here. Mike is a great host and all I had to do was ask if I needed something. You can’t beat the price for all the amenities you get. Cons: I wish there had been more grass but it’s hard to grow in a drought. A picnic table would have been nice. Some sites have them.
