The Cabin was built as their home in 1948 by the Stewart family. Betty Kelle would eventually be the mayor of Gates Oregon. We've gone to great lengths to preserve the history of canyon life when Betty and her husband lived the Canyon life fueled by the timber industry.
It's been fully renovated in 2022 reclaiming wood from local sawmills and keeping much of the original timber logged by Mr. Bob Kelle in the 40's.
The cabin features a queen sized Seely mattress and a single sized pull-out sofa suitable for children only. 45Gal hot water heater, shower, kitchenette, space heaters and portable AC. Fast fiber internet and TV with BYO streaming capabilities.
Within walking distance, you'll find stores, the post office, a boat launch, Kimmel Park, and more!
This cabin is perfect for kayakers, fishermen, and skiers seeking proximity to the river, hot springs, hiking, Silver Falls, and more. Weekend Trip to The Vintages Trailer Resort
Such an easy drive from the Portland area, and a romantic atmosphere with the way it’s lit up, and the fire pits. The bikes at each site are a nice touch, and the pass they give you to get discounts at nearby vineyards. Some tips if it’s your first time - consider bringing mainly microwaveable food as that was the only means of cooking inside our RV. The grill outside wasn’t covered and we would have gotten wet if it were raining. It was very private inside the RV but the site outside isn’t very private. It’s pleasant and has comfy chairs, though, and people give a friendly wave as they walk by. Also it’s very close to town so maybe treat yourself to a meal out while you’re there. :-) I would recommend this as a low-key, easy weekend getaway.

This treehouse was so fun for our weekend family trip! It’s a bit of a walk to get there, but such a cute setup. So nice to have a toilet, sink and shower with warm water!
The host and co-host were so helpful and even helped get my favorite hat back after I left it on checkout day 🤦♀️

The cabin was super cute! We enjoyed our stay very much. It was cool that for a very short walk you could get dinner. The owner also left some instructions to get to a public swimming area on the river, if we had more time we would have went and checked it out!

Weekend Trip to Cabin 317 by the Santiam
The only thing that went wrong at this stay was that I didn’t stay longer, because I loved it so much. Our host, and even the people in the neighborhood, were kind and welcoming and full of information about the area. The place itself was the perfect home away from home. It was charming and comfortable, with a joyful ambience of music and nice smells and obvious love and care put into the cabin. It was clean, cozy, and just downright delightful. In my minds eye, the cabin lived in a more remote area, but instead it’s tucked away in a sweet little close knit neighborhood, which worked really well for our purposes. I highly recommend staying with this family. 5 stars!!

What a fun/adventurous stay. This place was more than a treehouse. It had everything you needed for a quick rest during traveling or an over night with kids. It’s a magical foresty oasis. The kids loved the zip line, netted hammock and a little tv to wind down. The outdoor giant bathtub looked super fun but time didn’t allow for it. Comfortable, spacious, full bathroom, toaster oven, microwave and everything you need for a restful and enjoyable stay. It’s a must to stay here just to walk down the ramps in a jungle setting that lead up to this hidden gem.

Perfect winter treehouse! We were so impressed with this place - super charming and well thought out and nice and warm. The hammock in the loft was cozy and we slept great in the queen bed. The zip line was fun too. It was very clean and tidy as well and quiet for being in the middle of a neighborhood (it’s quite tucked back - you feel like you’re far from everything).
When they say the trail in is slippery when wet, believe them and take it slow. I’d recommend a headlamp if you arrive after dark like we did - There’s plenty of motion lights on the trail but that made me feel a little more sure footed going in carrying stuff.
Highly recommend this stay!
