The Whiskey Run mountain bike trails are a short drive away and are truly world-class trails. The Sunset Bay State Park has a huge trail network that spans the cliff line all the way from Sunset Bay to Cape Arago.
Chuck’s Seafood in Charleston is a great spot to pick up local seafood.
BBQ some oysters on the grill or pick up some fresh fish and enjoy the bounty of the coast.
Charleston, just 3.5 miles away, also has some great restaurants and local shops to truly make your stay memorable.

Recently featured in Southern Oregon Magazine and KCBY 11 TV's ~In Focus~ 'Goin' Green' and Oregon's Solar Home Tour, this is a unique 'green' home. This home was built with environmentally friendly materials. Building with little impact on the surroundings was very important to us during construction. The myrtle hardwood floor in the kitchen and living room was milled on site which came from trees that stood where the house is now. Same story for the beautiful maple flooring in the ½ bath. All of the large beams and fir flooring came from two 4' thick 104 year old douglas fir trees which also stood and were milled where the house is now. The fir trees sprouted after the last forest fire that came through the canyon. One of our neighbors fell a sixty five year old redwood that was over six feet thick! We used some of it as a wonderful wainscot paneling throughout the house. All of the finishes used are no or low VOC. Surrounding the house is native vegetation, huge trees and a few herbs and spices for cooking.
You'll enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with labradorite granite counters. The kitchen island has a new five burner gas stove with a convection oven and warming oven. The island has plenty of granite and wood counter space. Hanging from the exhaust hood are stainless, non-stick, and cast iron cookware. We also provide shade grown fair trade coffee and a grinder, espresso machine, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, utensils, chef knives, glasses and frosty cocktail glasses in the freezer. The dining room table has a river view and can seat six comfortably. There is also seating for three at the island bar. From the kitchen you can visit with the folks in the living room thanks to the open floor plan. Beside the wood stove are two chairs and the futon couch with reading lamp. A CD changer, TV with a DVD player and VHS machine are in the downstairs bedroom. Bring your favorite videos or browse our selection of movies.
The property has 150 feet of creek frontage with great views of Glenn creek, the forest and distant cliffs. Enjoy wildlife viewing with River Dippers, Chipmunks, Kingfishers, Great Blue Herons, Screech Owls, Pileated Wood Peckers, Elk, an occasional Bald Eagle or River Otter and other wildlife from the house and back deck. Build a fire and have lunch on the nearby picnic table and benches.

Octopus Garden is a seaside cottage set up on sand dunes along the central Oregon coast. This is a classic retro 1950s cottage with spectacular front-row views of the Pacific Ocean, shoreline, and beach.
Since it is just two doors down from beach access, beach exploration here is endless, with golden-brown fine sand, no insects, and no litter. As this is one of the more remote stretches of the western seaboard, there are no high-rise hotels or condos—just cabins spaced apart, offering a unique feeling of being almost alone with the vast ocean and shoreline.
Wildlife is abundant, including birds and sea creatures. I have personally seen seals, and guests have reported seeing whales passing by while staying at the cottage.

The beautiful Heceta Head Lighthouse and Keeper’s Quarters are perched on a cliff near the cottage and are stunning in both location and architecture. Volunteers are often available to provide information and short tours.
The Sea Lion Caves offer a unique opportunity to observe sea lions safely in their natural habitat. Visitors can view them through glass and learn about their behavior. There is also a gift shop offering a variety of items for all ages.
Yachats has a fun, welcoming vibe with charming shops and great places to eat. One favorite is “Just Local,” which sells handmade crafts and kitchen goods with local style and flair. Another favorite is Luna Sea Fish House, known for fresh daily-caught seafood in a lively atmosphere. I once had lunch there while being entertained by a musician playing cello and other string instruments.
Florence, Oregon also offers numerous shops and restaurants, primarily in the historic Old Town area along the Siuslaw River. My favorite restaurant in Florence is the Waterfront Depot. The food and drinks are excellent, and the service is outstanding.

The best place I’ve ever traveled to. We were mesmerized with all the beauty surrounding the area. You need to see it with your own eyes, because we knew it was going to be a fun place to stay, but we were not believing we were going to a piece of paradise. Craig is a great host, and Jade, his dog, is a cutie! The bed is super comfortable and showering with a perfect ocean view was a 10/10 experience. 1 night at The Cloud
We were on a month long road trip exploring the Pacific Northwest, we had decided to wing it (sleep where it aligned) as we drove south on the Oregon coast. We came across Sam's place on HipCamp, I loved everything I read on The Cloud's profile and decided to stay a night in the trailer. We arrived pretty late and left the next day at noon and honestly I wish I had stayed longer. I instantly felt grounded when we arrived - the trailer had immaculate lighting, great intention and attention to detail, and overall pretty clean. The land we slept on was the cherry on top! I loved learning a little about how The Cloud became The Cloud and exploring the land as it evolves, we also found a trail that leads to the ocean! It was super fun to experience an out door communal kitchen and shower, and simply co-exist in a space that felt so intentional and magical. I felt inspired. I left inspired. I even told my husband "I want to learn from these individuals" because I believe this way of being brings us closer to nature and teaches us to grow as individuals as we learn the ways of nature. Weekend Trip to The Cloud
Amazing property, super cool old school trailer, just our style. We like the resourceful and unique properties! Electricity, heater, futon and nice big bed. Didn't need much else for our short stay so it worked great. Outdoor bathroom was set up great and close by. Host was super nice, really excited to see what else they do with this property over time.

Weekend Trip to The Cloud
When I stumbled upon Cloud on Seven on Hipcamp, there was no question I HAD to stay there as my rest stop on the way to a gig. I highly respect and seek experiential stays and not only is the property extremely beautiful but the heart and wanting of transformation of space is beating at every return. I had an exquisite time in my super hot outdoor shower and Sam was eliminating me on plans for the upcoming tubs to be a quaint talking space for couples and the like. I have been telling everyone I know about this magic spot in. Stayed in the Lunar Lodge. ZERO regrets.
