GeerCrest Farm was settled by the Geer family in 1848, and is still owned and stewarded by the family. The house Ralph and Mary Geer built in 1851 stands and is one of the oldest in Oregon to remain in the same family. The farm features creeks, forests, pastures, orchards and gardens as well as the historic buildings. Currently we have four friendly sheep and a small flock of Mallard ducks to keep us company. The Pioneer Memorial Orchard features over 50 vairieties of pre 1850 apple trees. The Heritage Grove has ten fruit and nut trees that were recognizeds as a memorial the the early pioneers of the nursery trade by Oregon Heritage Tree program. The 20 acre property, offers three tent camp sites Including the Tree House site, as well as two forest cabins and a small forest bunkhouse (sleeps 6). Our peaceful, small farm offers a reflective immersion in nature and history among the occasional quacking of ducks and baaas of sheep. The scenery from all corners of the farm is incredible - a favorite is the westward view of the valley pasture at sunset -- called "Homer's View" after famous political cartoonist and Geer descendant, Homer Davenport. No matter which camping site you choose, the sounds of the creek, pond frogs, or conversing owls are sure to lull you to sleep. Feel free to roam the farm, but always leave gates as you find them, open or closed. Please say hello to our sheep and barn cats (they may say hello first). Explore the Heritage Grove of historic trees, the Memorial apple orchard and pear glade with varieties circa 1840s, indulge your senses in our medicinal herb garden, and chat with our farm family while they water the veggie gardens, if you so wish! Your experience will certainly be unique to the season. Your host Jim Toler represents the fifth generation of the farm and will happily share stories of the farm and it's history. You will feel as if you are in a forest on Mount Hood, and yet, just minutes away, is all the best the area has to offer. Follow the path and bridge through the trees to your own little treetop oasis. This standalone space rests 30 feet above the forest floor and is perfect for reconnecting with nature and getting away from real-life. The space Outside: Through French Doors guests will find a stunning back deck perched 30 feet in the air, offering a birds-eye view. Relax with a glass of wine at the scenic bar-top overlooking the canyon while taking in the clean air, sounds of the river below and enjoying the star filled skies. A tiny pellet stove keeps you cozy and warm on the deck. (Note - the pellet stove can not be used during burn bans). Limited Power is provided by rechargeable batteries. You will have about 7-8 hours of power per day. If you run several things at once, including the lights, the batteries will run down faster so use it sparingly. If you run out of batteries a lantern is provided as back up along with a couple headlights to help you navigate to the outhouse. NOTE: The only cook source is the bbq outside on the deck. We very much enjoyed staying on Barry's land. Was peaceful and secluded. We had a wonderful run in with assistant Peter, who told us about Steve, but Steve was elusive during our stay. The walk to the bathroom was a trek on uneven land yet I found it a fun challenge. Maybe in the future we will try out one of the other accommodations on his property. Thanks for the stay.

Incredible. Memorable. Picturesque. Camping & exploring, for all ages!!! Five stars, triple AAA, two thumbs up for any family wanting a safe, educational, fun camping experience. Our family of six includes a set of curious (mischief finding) 6yr old twins, a 10yr old girl who just loves to run and play and learned she also loves feeding sheep, and our 14yr old who couldn’t resist the charm and excitement of sleeping in the treehouse. Jim is a gracious communicator, making sure all of our pre-arrival questions were answered. He greeted us on arrival making sure we knew he was available and then gave us all the space and quiet we could want. Our kids had an absolute blast between the friendly sheep, the swing, and orchards — they only stopped playing to eat and sleep! We felt completely at ease letting them roam free. No doubt, we stumbled across an absolute GEM of Oregon’s; rich with history, with tons to explore, see and taste!

We loved this campsite! It had beautiful grounds, a treehouse house for the kids to play in, and a covered structure in case you need some shelter from the elements. The composting bathroom was clean and easy to use. And we loved the visits from the sheep! We highly recommend staying here.

Jim was an excellent host and was on the property to help with anything we needed, even purchasing firewood on-site. It was a beautiful area. It has room enough for parking by the treehouse, a couple of tents, and sleeping in the treehouse. The latrine was clever to put wood shavings to not emit an odor. Beautiful area.

What a fun/adventurous stay. This place was more than a treehouse. It had everything you needed for a quick rest during traveling or an over night with kids. It’s a magical foresty oasis. The kids loved the zip line, netted hammock and a little tv to wind down. The outdoor giant bathtub looked super fun but time didn’t allow for it. Comfortable, spacious, full bathroom, toaster oven, microwave and everything you need for a restful and enjoyable stay. It’s a must to stay here just to walk down the ramps in a jungle setting that lead up to this hidden gem.
