William Cornelius Vineyard is a 50-acre private working vineyard and farm that includes 6 acres of Vineyard, 15 acres of corn/soybean fields, and 15 acres of forest. Two vintage tobacco barns add rustic charm to the site. A lovely stream flows down cascading rock shelves along one side of the property, and a small pond is located on the other side. You will have the farm to yourself.
There is only one RV site on the property and no other residents, except for the deer and occasional turkey, racoon, squirrels, and birds. From your RV and site you will have an unobstructed view over the vineyard of the sunset and western range of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The Vineyard includes Viognier, Merlot, and Chambourcin grapes. Stony Knoll Winery nearby manages the vineyard and uses the grapes in production of their award-winning varietals. The Viognier won the 2023 Best of Show and Double Gold for the NC Fine Wines Show. Stony Knoll’s Rose, made from our Chambourcin, won the 2022 NC Best Rose.
There are three wineries within a couple of miles, and 20 more wineries within a 30-minute drive. There are 3 must-see / hike state parks within a 40 minute drive: Pilot Mountain, Hanging Rock, and Stone Mountain. The charming town of Mt. Airy (Mayberry RFD from the Andy Griffith Show) and Elkin are within a 20 minute drive. The Yadkin River is only a few miles to the south at the quaint village of Rockford, and is popular for kayaking/tubing, fishing, and swimming. Shady Rest Campground is a quite peaceful property located within 2 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Firewood is plentiful in the campground and you just help yourself. The bathhouse is a little primitive but it has hot water, toilets and showers. We also have a covered shelter which offers an indoor fireplace you are welcome to use. The town of Sparta is 12 miles away and offers several restaurants and local shops.
Brush Creek is only a mile from the campsite and trout fishing is popular there. Stone Mountain with its trails and water falls is a great day trip with only a 20 minute drive and the New River is a great place canoeing and kayaking.

The yurt is 15 mins from Mt Airy NC which is a destination for outdoors activities, wineries, breweries, and has a gorgeous downtown area. Fancy Gap is famous for the BRPW, hiking, mountain biking, and all types of outdoor activities. This yurt is great for a couple or a couple with a small child, I provide a blowup mattress, twin size with linens.. The yurt faces the creek, and a rock wall on the other side making this property very private except for our cabin on the same property. Shady Rest Campground is a quite peaceful property located within 2 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Firewood is plentiful in the campground and you just help yourself. The bathhouse is a little primitive but it has hot water, toilets and showers. We also have a covered shelter which offers an indoor fireplace you are welcome to use. The town of Sparta is 12 miles away and offers several restaurants and local shops.
Brush Creek is only a mile from the campsite and trout fishing is popular there. Stone Mountain with its trails and water falls is a great day trip with only a 20 minute drive and the New River is a great place canoeing and kayaking.

This site/location did not disappoint - what more could you ask for, a perfect site that’s walking distance to a tasting room with beautiful views.
Access to the site was easy to find and navigate. The site was pushed back into the woods with a cleared space that was flat and perfect for a tent. There was a picnic table and a gravel firepit area. The cooking grate was perfectly positioned to enjoy both a fire and cooking at the same time. There was wood provided which was a nice touch. I also appreciated the trash bin located at the entrance to the site.
We took full advantage of the grounds, the tasting room, and the fenced dog area. Being able to enjoy a glass of wine on the back patio while the sun set was the perfect way to end the day. My dog thoroughly enjoyed the fenced in area - Saturday night I sat at a table in the dog area, enjoyed a glass of wine, listened to the band, all while my dog got the zoomies and played ball.
We took a day trip and hiked 5 miles to explore around Carter Falls and then walked around Mt Airy. Both are highly recommended. This was a perfect weekend for my dog, Journey, and I.
If you are looking for a site that has privacy but provides the opportunity to be social and active - this is the place for you. If you’re looking for complete seclusion, to get away from it all, you might want to find somewhere else - there was road noise, chickens, barking dogs, and screaming kids from adjacent properties. But not enough to bother us. We will be back!

We accidentally went past the campground (it’s well marked and the location pin was perfect) but were treated with seeing deer cross the creek so that was a bonus. It’s close to the road but at night there’s little to no traffic and we didn’t really hear much going by. Very peaceful and it sounds like it’s going to have some nice additions in the future.
