Standout cabin in the woods. Mattresses & pillows provided (we put our stuff overtop theirs). Luxury hotel-style fire pit set up -the best I’ve seen. Inside camp stove (for heat) is excellent & so easy to use. Fully built out and large outhouse. Gas stove (inside) & gas grill outside. Any comments you see about strangers driving by is because there are other cabins! Nothing to worry about. Nicely located for reasonable driving access to The Ledges & Rock River. Will stay again!

This was the perfect, little getaway for us. The location is good, very scenic, lots of trails, swimming and close to downtown Wilmington. The campsite was very clean, inviting and beautiful. Super dog friendly. Stephany was a very sweet and accommodating host. We would love to visit again.

Truly one of the best experiences I’ve had, words can’t describe the beauty of this area! The cabin was perfect for me and had even more accommodations than I expected! There was plenty of cooking grates, 2 fire pits, a tent spot, and a shower stall to hang the solar bag to shower in private. The walk to the falls was definitely steep so be warned it is not for the faint of heart, but absolutely worth it every time!!! If you’re open to a real genuine camping experience and want to see nature in a pure and beautiful way I HIGHLY recommend sacred falls, you can’t go wrong 🥰

There’s campsites around the property but we were the only ones out there during our stay so it was very quiet and close to a swimming hole. Stephanie was very helpful with anything we needed. This was an extremely last minute booking and the host handled it perfectly. Literally booked at 7:30pm for that night and everything was perfect. A great quiet location along a nice stream was a excellent way to wake up. We will definitely be back someday hopefully with more time to explore the area!

Stephanie met us when we arrived and offered advice about the Somerset Reservoir to walk. Peaceful, plush green, quiet spot. The sunshine cabin was perfect for myself, my husband and our two dogs! We cooked dinner on the charcoal grill while watching the sunset.. The fireflies in the field at night were magical as we sat next to the campfire! We are already talking about returning later this summer!

The tiny cabin is in a beautiful spot, surrounded by trees and next to a river. It has everything you need for a really enjoyable stay. It’s also less than a mile from Poultney with pubs, restaurants and shops. Safe (because I know some folks worry about that, especially solo travelers like myself) and serene. Ty to Robbin who created a lovely space.

Weekend Trip to Waterfall Sanctuary & Quiet Retreat

We LOVED this trip! The camp was exactly as described and the host was very detailed in the directions which helped a lot. There were really nice added touches like a water bowl for our dog, fire grates for cooking over the fire, an area to hang the bag for showing, and the pillows/blankets already there. We hiked down to the waterfall the first morning we were there and it was incredible. We were the only ones there which made it so special. We went with our 2 year old daughter and although the water was a bit chilly for her she loved exploring and throwing the rocks for our dog. We had her in a hiking backpack because although it was a short hike, the host wasn’t kidding about it being steep.. but the ropes tied along the hill definitely helped a lot. We became frequent visitors of Barbers farm stand down the street and picked up a few fresh veggies to grill. Make sure you ask them about their vodka. We also hiked Vroman’s nose which is down the road and it was a nice easy, well groomed trail. We hope to be back soon to visit and explore the area some more!

Waterfall Sanctuary & Quiet Retreat

NOTE: Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty and power. It is considered a sacred site that has been central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka, also known as the Mohawks, Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, Kahonrakén:ra Waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into a hidden pool, running into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. The effect is transporting. Truly, it is one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that makes you feel like you are in another world. It's a 10 minute hike down the gorge to the waterfall from the campsites. Each campsite has a private path down to the waterfall, where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire at your fire pit and fall asleep under the stars listening to the waterfall and the river below. Be aware that the hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Please be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and to keep noise down after 10pm to chillax and enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside that makes Schoharie so special. In the big red barn at the entrance to the campsites there is a community room with a charging station, cold water sink, mini fridge, coffee maker, grills, and a port-a-potty for your use. There are also 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. :) This is a leave no trace site. Please take all your trash with you when you leave. And please bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms with fresh produce and organic meat within 5 miles of the house. There are several farm stands and a general store a few miles away, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, and the Sap Bush Country Store and Café just up the hill in West Fulton. Mustang Valley, a wild mustang sanctuary and rescue center, is just down the road. Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, among many others.

This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you! We also have luxury cabin rentals if you need comfortable lodging but want to be closer to nature than you would be in a hotel. We have seasonal RV sites available for those who like to escape for the weekend and relax or just like to be close to the action for the summer season. We have several tent sites as well as cabins and rv sites! 3 Night minimum for Holiday weekends including July 4th and Labor Day. 2 night minimum on weekends, but sometimes we can make an exception if it's short notice and there are sites available.

Squish your toes into the earth and breathe in the wild thyme-filled grassy trails. Go for a walk in the woods. Take a deep breath. Relax and recharge! The pebble beach at the pond allows for a gradual entry and goes to 16 feet deep in the middle. Feel free to swim on out to the floating dock. We love jumping in. There are many fish in the pond, most of them are large mouth bass. You may use our canoe, but please wear a life jacket if you are not a confident swimmer. (*Swimming is at your own risk!) The ‘Fossil Creek Trail’ leads down through the woods from the pond area to the slate bed creek. (*Please watch your footing on the trail- some is quite uneven.) There are many amazing fossils to find if you look in the creek bed during the dryer season. The woods are cooler and bug free, perfect for sitting and relaxing with a book or picnic. There are several mowed trails that wind around the pond and then back up to the Tent.

Just minutes from I-87 and the Lake George Region, our A Frame site offers a 120 square foot authentic A-Frame cabin with an open Adirondack Lean-to approach. This 1-4 person A frame comes with 2 to 4 sleeping cots, 2 hammocks (available) with hanging space inside or out and plenty of space to pitch a tent all around, tent included. Down by the runoff stream (sometimes there is no runoff!) you'll find a fire ring with a cooking grill and outdoor seating. Inside the A frame you're provided a lantern, gas cook stove, kitchen ware, food storage cooler and small table and chairs. 14 gallons of potable water is provided. There is a small corner loo inside the A frame with a flushing RV type toilet for the ladies and also a comfortable Adirondack outhouse with an ecological waste removing system. Although the A frame is UNHEATED, there is a small propane space heater available to take off the chill of a cool Adirondack evening. A 1 lb Propane bottle is provided. Lake George, Merck Forest, Schroon Lake, Lake St. Catherine, Bomoseen are all nearby as well as the Battenkill River and the Mettowee for fishing. If you are a winter visitor, plenty of ski resorts are a little over an hour away like Stratton, Bromely, Okemo, or Killington to name a few.
