As far as we know, this land has been occupied since shortly after the civil war.  It is actually two farms, combined into one around 1900. The main farmhouse was built out of the logs they cleared in 1879, and there are old foundations of the other original farm houses/barns as well.  All over the property (now woods) there are piles of stones that the original inhabitants pulled from the fields. The second farm house was built in 1901. Most of the total 240 acres were cleared pasture land at that time.  During the twenties and thirties the property was owned by an industrious couple from the City that lovingly turned it into more of a "rustic retreat"; damming a pond, planting ornamentals and upgrading the buildings.  There have been many owners over the years, but we are proud to say it has been with us the longest.  Our family bought it in 1961 and we have been trying to be good stewards ever since.  Come and visit our little patch of wilderness!

This tiny, magical, rustic, cabin is situated overlooking a large pond on a private property of 200+ acres. Though the cabin is very small (about 8x10 ft with an upstairs sleeping loft) it is quaint and lovingly made with hand split cedar shingles and locally harvested wood. Outhouse and no running water - drinking water provided. The main house is situated behind the cabin, but out of sight, so there is plenty of privacy. The space This cabin looks like a fairy tale - nestled beneath tall Scotch pines and though small - well equipped. It has a single cot on the main floor and there are two large camping pads in the upstairs loft. Make no mistake - this is camping - but in a delightful setting. Guest access It has a wood stove, an antique (but functional) propane cookstove and a boutique outhouse (as outhouses go - pure luxury). Included is the (shared with inhabitants) use of the beach picnic area with a fire pit, benches, chairs, hammock and screened tent. Interaction with guests Guests are asked to respect the privacy of the owners and tenants that live on the property. The cabin is not within sight of the main houses but is within earshot - we expect guests to be quiet and respectful. If guest needs assistance we can be reached by text or phone. Other things to note 1.It is a few hundred yards from parking area to cabin. Be prepared to carry your gear that distance.2. You will need sleeping/camping gear! There is a lantern provided but guests must have their own necessities (lights, cookware/flatware etc.) There is a cast iron fry pan and some various cups and utensils.3. Fire is allowed in wood stove and the fire pit at the beach only. If you need assistance please ask before attempting to make a fire. Please be very careful and use restraint. There is some firewood available for both locations.4. Drinking water will be provided in the form of a 5 gallon igloo water cooler - it is excellent quality springwater from the property. We will provide as much as needed. Swimming in the pond is allowed (at guest's own risk). Please be respectful of the picnic area and various furniture and items stored there.5. Pets must be kept under control and attended. Contact host

Somewhere between “Glamping” and... “Camping”. It’s this new thing - where you leave the machinations of the urban world behind and retreat to the calming surrounds of nature. To some extent. This isn't exactly primitive. 1/4 mile trek. A footbridge over a winding stream, a fire-pit, a hammock, Adirondack chairs, and a grassy clearing under the tall hemlocks will be your immediate surroundings. Other than that - you are alone, surrounded by hundreds of acres of private, wild forest.

The site is beautiful. Trek to it is tough so UTV rental is recommended. Owners are responsive, accommodating, and kind. We had a great time aside from the bad weather.

A really nice retreat. Really cool to use the indoor fire stove for heat. Lots to do at the site too with the kayaks, outdoor kitchen, tented seating area. Gonna come back next year during the summer!

We had a great stay here at the end of September with our dog. The property is beautiful. The place is really peaceful - just the sound of owls at night, no traffic noise at all. There's virtually no light pollution, so we had a really nice view of the stars at night. The beach area was well equipped with a fire pit, propane grill, basic utensils, tiki torches and even a screen room so you can eat without being bothered by bugs (though that wasn't really a problem when we were there). The cabin was cozy too. Overall, a very nice experience. We would love to come back again.

What a wonderful experience. Sven was our main contact and was so kind. Definitely recommend paying for a ride to transport gear to the camp site. The campsite itself was exceptional. Comfy bed, a tank of propane for cooking, and lots of firewood. Everything you could ask for. Thank you so much for sharing this land with us, we will be back!

Beautiful secluded spot. Loved the short hike in. Everything was provided on site from lanterns and cooking utensils to firewood and tiki torch fuel. The host even set up a five gallon jug of potable water. Just bring bedding and food and you’re good to go! Wonderful weekend in the Adirondacks with easy access to North Creek.

Adirondack Tiny Camp
This tiny cabin was so cute! My family and I were on a Fall Foliage road trip and we had the best time here. It was quiet, you have the pond all to yourself, all the leaves were changing colors, there’s a wood stove. Just exactly what you expect for a road trip like ours. There were 6 of us and we slept comfortable. It looks EXACTLY like the pictures so you will not be disappointed. Hurry and book!

The cabin is so beautiful and cozy! The property is so peaceful and so much land to explore. Our dogs loved running around and swimming in the lake. Such a beautiful space will definitely come back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Tiny Camp, which is actually quite a large space. The cabin was adorable, clean and functional, with a great wood stove. (It is the Adirondacks so that Fall chill was in the air for a couple of nights). The pond was amazing as were the local trails. The outdoor kitchen was excellent - well supplied. It is so wonderful to see a tract of land that is preserving the Adirondacks in reality & spirit. We highly recommend & look forward to visiting again.

Peace, quiet, and solitude

My goal was to have a relaxing long weekend getaway. And this spot was perfect. I took lots of long walks on the trails through the property. I had the trails to myself. I enjoyed sitting by the pond and my dogs went for a swim. I did lots of reading The hammock was perfect for that. I also sat outside and practiced my guitar. The site had everything I needed. Of course I was lucky and had absolutely perfect weather for the 4 days/3 nights. I was there. Margarete and Sven were perfect hosts. The creek in front of the tent was a haven for small frogs. I also saw many toads, as well as an assortment of interesting plants, fungi, and insects. I heard coyotes howling in the distance one morning. I spied a young hawk on n the ground eating something during one of my walks. It was an extremely quiet and peaceful stay and I highly recommend hemlock camp.

Great stay!!! My kids and I had a blast. We will definitely be coming back. Amenities were outstanding. Birdwatching was topnotch. Having the kayaks, canoe and paddleboard on hand was great. Suggest bringing sleeping bags, lanterns, eating utensils and a small stove. Getting supplies at Chestertown was convenient. Chestertown shops were an added bonus.

Home away from home.
Adirondack Tiny Camp
The Tiny Cabin is situated perfectly for complete privacy. Margarete and Sven were wonderful hosts and started the wood burning stove prior to our (me + dog) so the cabin would be toasty after our long drive. While very rustic, the hosts have filled the cabin with cozy charm - little firefly lights, lanterns, a cot on the main floor and two comfy sleeping pads in the loft. It's the perfect place for a getaway and to simply relax in nature. While there are tons of hikes nearby, the land provided boasts its own trail system. It's really heaven on earth. oh and the outhouse...the cutest I've ever seen!

Seclusion and tranquility
Hemlock Camp
We had a great time at Margarete's Hemlock Camp. The tent is huge and water tight. We had an additional twin air mattress for our son and there was still plenty of room. When arriving at the GPS location you need to go past where it says "private land" that confused me a little bit. But Margarete was quick to answer text (once we found service, lol). She was also very quick to respond when we asked for more fire wood. Great host! Her partner Sven was very friendly too! There was a Huge thunderstorm the second night and we were snug as a bug in a rug. Just some small water leaks under the tent side/bottom. We didn't use the wood stove the 1st night, but did the second. It was much less damp that way. Would definitely recommend. The outhouse is clean (a bit far away in the dead of night for any scaredy cats like me). The walk in to the camp site is about a 1/4 of a mile. Definitely get the UTV ride in if you have any more gear than what you're carrying on your backs. The trail can be a bit muddy at some points (mud boots are a great idea). Grill was a great addition. Our son (15) loved the hammock. Bring BUG SPRAY. The area is quite wet so the skeeters are out in full force. Tiki torches helped with that. The deck the tent is built on is gorgeous as are the stairs leading up to the tent. They did an excellent job with this site. If you're looking for seclusion and tranquility this place is for you! Babbling Brook can be heard at night. The experience was lovely. Thank you!!!

Time alone in the wilderness

The Tiny Cabin was great. The person who built it did a great job. The scenery is terrific with the Pond and Wilderness. I heard the Coyotes every night. If you like to spend time in the woods away from everyone, Tiny Cabin is the place to be!

A mushroom spotter’s dream

We stayed at Hemlock camp for a couple nights over July 4th. It was a lovely experience. The tent itself is huge and constructed wonderfully. The outhouse was probably the nicest one I have ever used. The site was pretty muddy due to the amount of rain the area had gotten recently. Our dogs had a great time running around checking everything out. We loved walking around the site and trails looking at all the different mushrooms growing. The only issue we had was the cart was very low on air in the tires which made the trek in a bit difficult especially since it was raining. Next time I would arrange for a ride for the load in.

It was so peaceful and quiet. We loved exploring the woods around the pond. The campsite is only a few miles from the town of North Creek where we were able to hike along the Hudson River, which was awesome. This was the perfect time of year to be in the adirondacks, the colors were amazing everywhere we went. The cabin was so cute. We absolutely loved our trip.
