4 nights at Upper Shire Campsites Hudson Valley

This was our second time camping here, and it was again wonderful. Jo was incredibly accomodating as we navigated getting out of the city, and the a-frame is so cozy! We also loved the (brand new) outdoor showers. On the rainy day we checked out nearby restaurants and Berkshire towns - especially recommend Great Barrington. We'll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Thornback Wood

Such a great spot! We arrived very late at night and Zach stayed up to welcome us and show us to the spot. The set up was beautiful, the tent was perfect with blankets down and a mattress that was so cozy to sleep on. He also had a fire pit, stove top with a table, fresh water, a hammock and garbage can. The fact that he allowed the dogs to be off leash is always such a bonus! We had such a great time at this spot. If you do bring dogs with you - please be aware of the wildlife! My girl had a run in with a porcupine that did end up removing quills from her little face! We will definately be back again! ❤️

Weekend Trip to Salamander Hollow Healing Habitat

We had the absolute best time at Salamander Hollow! It was downpouring the weekend we stayed, but the covered space by the pizza oven and the tipi kept us dry and cozy. Our dog absolutely loved having free rein of the land, the sleeping quarters were spotless, and the sauna was a lovely touch. We all left feeling happy and rejuvenated! Mary is an incredibly responsive and kind host as well, so we felt totally prepared for our stay. I would venture to say there are few camping opportunities like this in the area, and would recommend people stay here without reservation!

Joanna’s sites are beautifully and thoughtfully laid out. The airstream was comfortable and fun to sleep in. Joanna was communicative and helpful. We saw turtles in the pond, a barred owl, lotsa birds and deer walked by too.

We loved this unique spot. The sleeping library was cozy, the tipi was relaxing and the pizza oven was a ton of fun to use. I'll definitely keep this on my list of places to go back to when I want some quiet restorative time.

Truly magical location. The space itself is simple and clean, the bed is comfortable (we brought our own sleeping bags.) Already thinking about when I might come back in the summer.

We loved our stay at the cabin! It was very secluded and private while having access to the lovely grounds and hikes. The electric battery and propane stove made cooking very easy and we had cozy nights by the wood stove. The farm grounds are beautiful and we loved exploring the ponds and brook.

This was my second trip to Uppershire. It’s a wonderful piece of property with amazing hosts Barb and Joanna. Each site is curated carefully and the amenities keep being added. Last year a hot outdoor shower and this year a new log cabin for a glamping experience. Although I am a squaredrop camper (think queen bed on wheels) I really appreciate the serene land coupled with the amazing hosts, and cute town ta boot.

My partner, dog, and I stayed at the Kula Bata Tiny Kabin. It’s one of the first cabins on the property, separate from the rest of the rentals. However, we ended up having the entire property to ourselves. It was fun to check out the other rentals and hike around the acreage. The pictures don’t do the cabin justice! This place is really lovely. You can tell it’s been set up with a lot of care for all who visit. The sauna was fun and we enjoyed the fire pit as well. You must take the hike to the farm store. There were so many farm goods for purchase. We got steaks and grilled them back at camp. They were DELICIOUS! Be sure to bring some foil and cooking oil with you since we couldn’t find either in the kitchen- plenty of spices and everything else you may need to cook though! All in all, it was a treat to stay here. Super unique spot that will leave you feeling rested and restored.

My and my dog had a great stay at the Berry Patch campsite. The platform was perfect and the awning frame was great considering the weather during my stay. There was a rain forecast and the awning was perfect for my camping tarp. The surrounding area was great as well including the open field and various trails close by. My booking was out of season but David was very accommodating. I highly recommend this campsite. Thanks David!

Very nice property, each site is very private. Be ready to walk your things to the site. Dom has wheelbarrows to help move things which is great. Great experience, the firewood is a nice big bundle. This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Moon In The Pond Farm

Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a little bit of heaven. There are six separate sites to choose from. All are in separate, different locations around the farm, so you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be sharing a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. There's the BellTent--a bit of "glamping". And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are located in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, three others are under the trees on the edges of different farm fields, one is a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. Wanna hike? We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy preserved land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, off-road, gavel-road and country-road biking, snowshoeing, cc skiing and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!
