Weekend Trip to Winimusett Farm

We took our fireworks sensitive dog with us to this site over the holiday weekend and it was the perfect getaway. Quiet, private, but cozy and comfortable, we had a lovely getaway.

3 nights at Moon In The Pond Farm

Our stay at Dom's Moon in the Pond farm was ideal. The cabin was cozy and comfortable while the screens successfully kept the bugs out. The property is bucolic with adorable cows, lambs, chickens, etc. We pre ordered the spicy sausage with fennel along with other farm fresh foods - which were delicious. It was the perfect home after a long day of swimming and hiking. Would definitely come again!

Foolhardy is fabulous! The honors were very friendly and responsive. We usually camp at state parks but this time decided to rent a cabin. The cabin was very clean. And the mattresses were comfortable. We are very lucky to have the entire place to ourselves. The kitchen area is top notch and fully equipped with everything from pots to dishes to cleaning supplies.

Weekend Trip to Sunflower Retreat

What an amazing and serene place! Just Be was perfect for my sister and I as we were passing through before Green River Festival the next day. Stacey was incredibly accommodating/kind and we enjoyed our stroll through the gardens and watching sunset on our long walk in the evening. Can't wait to come back.

I had magical experience at this little cabin. It was my first solo trip and it was refreshing. I loved learning about the history of the farm and the cabin. The landscape was breathtaking, the cabin was cozy, and I had everything I needed. I particularly liked the couch in the cabin. I saw so many stars at night, saw lightning bugs and bats, and heard an owl. I could go on and on. Long story short, I highly recommend this cabin.

This was my second stay at this wonderful property. However this time we stayed in the new cabin which was super nice and tastefully set up. The cabin is very close to the showers which are also very nice and modern. The bed here is very comfortable. But I'd say the sofa, which flattens out, is not very comfortable for an adult. small kids probably won't care! All in all a very pretty property and close to a quaint town of Hillsdale for your needs.

This was one of the best places I have camped! Mary was very clear with her instructions and very informative regarding stores & other such things in the area we may need. We absolutely LOVED staying in the teepee. It was very serene walking around the property & hearing nothing but the birds, bees, & trees. Listening to the frogs in the koi pond at night was a very peaceful way to fall asleep. I HIGHLY recommend this spot for nature lovers and even first time campers as you'll have all the amenities you need. I can't wait to go back in the Fall! 💓

We absolutely love this place! It is our second time here and even though we had rain both times, we don't love it any less. The cabin has a lot of charm and little bit of everything you could need. Salamander Hollow is a magical place. I could write an essay about it but to put it succinctly: What you see online is very cute but doesn't even start to do it justice. If you're on the fence, just book it. Also, this is my first Hipcamp experience but I've done many AirBnbs, and I can confidently say that Mary was the best host ever. Above and beyond helpful. 10 stars!!!

I loved Tully island and paddling around the pond. It was mostly quiet and waking up to the birds was very relaxing. The beaver scared us with his slapping around dusk but the island was an amazing experience.

The accommodations were perfect for us to enjoy a delicious wood-fired pizza making experience, s'mores in the tipi one evening and sleeping in the bee cabin. Despite the rainy weather we had a wonderful time walking the beautiful property, and staying cozy for meals and evenings. Mary is a wonderful host and has lots of helpful recommendations for the area. We will definitely be back!

This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you! We currently have a one-room, wood stove warmed, cozy sleeping loft for one or two - with two benches below on either side of room - for two sleeping bags; plus, a separate 22 foot Sioux tipi with two cots. There are two chairs in the tipi, which if removed at night, make floor room for four other sleeping bags. 'Forest Bathing' for miles! If you're a larger group booking Salamander Hollow main camp with its Sleeping Library, Tipi & Slovenian Beehive House, you might consider renting this additional Tiny Cabin want to entertain all in glamping style, utilizing its amenities; as well, providing another bathroom/shower and guest bedroom for those who prefer being indoors while in the great outdoors. Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

Moon In The Pond Farm

Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven. There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.
