This is a newer campground to Rock County near Luverne, MN. This property is known as the "boy scouts" by the locals. When we were kids we spent time on this property riding bike, horses, and exploring. We have turned this 13 acre property into 22 site campground that we are excited to share with you. Nestled in a bed of trees just 2 miles from I-90 and 1/4 mile South of the Luverne City Park. This campground has 12 sites with rural water and 20,30&50 amp electric at every site. Dump Station. 8 Full Hook Up Sites (Sewer, Water, Electric) Two small ponds and shade trees. Wifi. Shower House/Bathrooms. Campers can enjoy the quiet place to relax and enjoy nature and wildlife, a perfect place for bird watching. Camp along the Kettle River at this small four-site campground, where you can spend your days swimming, tubing, relaxing by the fire, or exploring the surrounding trails. With direct river access, an on-site sauna, and plenty to do nearby, it's an easy place to settle in for a relaxing outdoor getaway. Each of our four campsites includes a fire ring, picnic table, hammock, and clothesline. An outhouse is conveniently located near the campsites, and a walking trail loops around the campground and follows the river. One of the highlights of the property is our sauna, surrounded by a privacy fence and stocked with wood and water for guests. There's also an outdoor gravity shower. Camping stoves are available if needed, and 16 oz propane tanks can be purchased on-site. When you're ready to cool off, head to the Kettle River for a swim or grab one of our tubes. A favorite way to enjoy the property is to enter the river near the bridge and float downstream to the edge of the property, climb out, and do it all over again. We're also close to the Soo Line Trail, with plenty more to explore throughout the area. Barnum and Moose Lake are less than 15 minutes away, and both Banning State Park and Jay Cooke State Park are nearby. For a trip into town, check out live music at KR Bar and Grill on Fridays, grab coffee at the Chickadee in Barnum or Joe Jitters in Moose Lake, or visit the Saturday summer farmers markets in Moose Lake and Cloquet. Cuyuna Crossing offers both private riverside domes and walk-in rustic campsites on 21 wooded acres with over a half mile of Mississippi River frontage, just minutes from the Cuyuna Recreation Area. Our professionally designed 18-hole disc golf course winds through the woods and along the river. Overnight guests can play any time during their stay, and the course is also open to the public on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mirror Hypedomes (Glamping) Our insulated domes are designed for quiet, comfortable stays and are ideal for couples. Each includes a king bed, wood stove (firewood provided), electric heat, AC in the summer season, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, outdoor seating, fire ring, and private river access. Included wood-fired, coil thermosiphon hot tubs are the ultimate camping luxury during the summer season. Private Bathroom & Shower: Each dome comes with its own private bathroom and shower, just for your party. It's in the main building, a short walk from the domes. Pets: Leashed pets are welcome everywhere outside on the property, but they can't stay inside the domes. Winter Season (Oct 19 – May 1) The domes stay open all year! The trail can be muddy or uneven after rain, so plan on two trips if you're bringing a lot. Water: The campsites don't have water or electrical hookups. You can fill up with drinking water at the main building by the parking lot, so bring a jug or refillable bottles to carry back to your site. If you're looking for a manicured, golf-course lawn, this isn't the spot for you! But if you love lush spaces, biodiversity, abundant wildlife, and true peace, you'll feel right at home. When you stay here, you'll enjoy plenty of privacy from the road and the company of my resident flock of free-roaming chickens. Because the landscape is left in its natural state, it is a haven for local birds and pollinators. Spend your days relaxing under the mature tree canopy, watching the chickens explore, or simply soaking in the quiet. Choose Your Basecamp: I offer two distinct ways to stay, ensuring every kind of camper can find their perfect pocket of privacy. The RV Spot: A dedicated, easy-access space to park your rig. You'll enjoy the benefits of a private setting without the crowded feel of a traditional commercial RV park. The site is next to the garage, so it's not completely "out in nature," but it's easy to back into using my driveway. There are also fewer bugs since it's not out in the "back 40." :) The Camping Spot: For the purists who want to pitch a tent right on the ground. Fall asleep to the rustle of the leaves and wake up surrounded by clover and wildflowers. You can choose almost anywhere on my 5 acres! No amenities are available. Things to Know & Ground Rules A Note on Pets: I love animals, but because my elderly dog and chickens rule the roost and roam freely, all guest pets must be kept on a leash at all times for everyone's safety. No exceptions. The Landscape: Because I don't meticulously mow or maintain traditional landscaping, the ground can be uneven and grasses may be tall. Wear appropriate footwear, bring insect protection, and embrace the wild! Pack your boots, leave the city noise behind, and come enjoy a truly natural escape!

First time camping solo and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Kettle River Base Camp is peaceful and quaint. With only 4 camp sites, it allows you to really appreciate the property. The river, just a short walk from the site, provided the slice of Northern Minnesota serenity I was looking for. Amanda made the experience seemless. Her support and responsiveness removed any uncertainties I had Camping alone for the first time. It's clear that she genuinely cares about the experiences of her guests. If you're looking for a camping get away, I cannot recommend a better place than Kettle River Base Camp. I will be back!

The Happy Camper was the perfect place for us to rest after long days exploring Duluth and Two Harbors. We appreciated being warmly welcomed with a freshly baked loaf of apple bread and given detailed instructions about the camper. The owners were very open to being contacted anytime with questions and/or concerns. A highlight for us was being greeted by pups Hank and Stella each morning and upon returning from our outings. Molly was so kind to give us a farm tour which we thoroughly enjoyed! She provided us with apples to feed the sheep and horse and took time to tell us about the animals. We would definitely recommend the Happy Camper as it has everything you need in a beautiful setting with very kind and responsive hosts!

We had such a wonderful stay! The drive to the cabin was absolutely beautiful, and from the moment we arrived, the host was very welcoming and friendly. His dog, Piper, was so sweet and definitely added to the experience. The cabin truly felt like a home away from home. The views were gorgeous, and we loved how quiet, peaceful, and relaxing everything was. It was the perfect place to slow down, enjoy the scenery, and just get away from it all. We would absolutely love to come back and stay again! ❤️🌲🏡

We came up to camp for a night on Saturday, and from the moment we arrived, we had a great experience! We met Amanda, and she was awesome. She walked us back to our site and let us get settled in. They also have firewood available for purchase, which was super convenient! We bought a few bundles, and Amanda and her husband brought it right to our site. We really appreciated that! 😊 Our site was private, well wooded, and super spacious. We were able to drive right up to our site, which made things really easy. The trees also provided great protection, so we didn’t have to worry about the wind at all. One of our favorite bonuses was that the sites are just a quick walk away from the Kettle River, which runs right along the property. 🌲🏕️ We brought our two dogs with us, and they LOVED it! There are trails throughout the property that we enjoyed walking with them. Dogs had plenty of things to sniff and explore, so they were definitely happy campers! 🐾 The whole place was private and peaceful — exactly what we were looking for. There is also a sauna and shower available, although unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to enjoy them during our stay. We absolutely enjoyed our camping trip and will definitely be back! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a peaceful, private place to get away and enjoy nature. 💜
